Offline installation - is is possible?

I have been looking at oVirt for a while. My current virtualization is an older version of RHV. With RHV, I could have my hypervisors completely isolated from the internet and all updates come through Red Hat's Satellite. Is is possible to add the installation repos as a product in Satellite? It is very important that the hypervisors not have access to the Internet, but all the documentation and installation info that I can find wants the hypervisors to use the COPR plugin and have direct access to centos stream. Thank you

Unable to install oVirt on RHEL7.5

I go to ui and edit vm and change to one of the default size templates, usually large, it boots with no nic and I can add a nic once it's booted and restart it, then it gets an IP and is fine unless you shut it down. In that case, you have to go through setting size and adding nic after vm boot. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance/

Unable to upload or download iso via admin portal

Hi, I'm having a trouble on fresh 4.4.10.7 installation (on oracle linux), I'm not able to upload or download any file using storage domain upload image function. I've imported CA certificate and have tried on several browsers (firefow, chrome,edge), on different computers (and browsers are green - claiming that I'm securely connected), but I'm always getting error regarding CA certificate when I test connection, or when I try to upload ISO image. I've tried to upload ISO image via cli commands (upload_disk.py), and that scenario was successful, however this method It is not very convenient for my co-workers. I have 5 physical hosts, one is dedicated to run ovirt-engine, and other 4 are kvm hypervisors. Installing oVirt on RHEL vs CentOS Stream, Alma or Rocky Linux

I'm still struggling to get oVirt installed. It absolutely will not install on RHEL 8, the documentation here is flat out wrong: https://www.ovirt.org/documentation/installing_ovirt_as_a_standalone_manage… javapackages-tools is not a module that exists in RHEL 8. Apparently it's a CentOS PowerTools module. Since original CentOS no longer really exists either, does anyone have any opinions or experience with installing oVirt on any of: - CentOS Stream 8 - Alma Linux 8.5 - Rocky Linux Alma in particular looks like a straight replacement for old CentOS. GlusterFS & NFS Storage Performance in OLVM/Ovirt – Tuning Advice Needed

Hi all, I’m benchmarking storage performance on OLVM using fio across several scenarios (local brick, GlusterFS, NFS, both on host and as storage domains in VMs). I’m seeing significant differences in throughput and latency, especially with GlusterFS and OLVM guest disks. Summary of Results: Location IOPS Bandwidth Total IO Avg Latency Block Size Jobs CPU (sys) Notes Local Brick 1816 1816 MiB/s 109 GiB 587 µs 1M 4 45% Fastest, direct disk OLVM Guest Disk using GlusterFS Storage Domain 117 118 MiB/s 8196 MiB 12.3 ms 1M 4 3.80% Virtualization overhead GlusterFS Mounted on Host 211 211 MiB/s 12.4 GiB 18.8 ms 1M 4 3.50% Improved, but still slower NFS Mount on Host 4241 4242 MiB/s 249 GiB 613 µs 1M 4 80% Fastest network storage OLVM Guest Disk using NFS Storage domain 532 532 MiB/s 32.8 GiB 5.4 ms 1M 4 17.40% NFS on OLVM guest Observation: Both GlusterFS and NFS are on the same network VLAN, but NFS consistently outperforms GlusterFS (both on host and as a storage domain in OLVM). This suggests the network isn’t the bottleneck. The issue may be with GlusterFS configuration, protocol overhead, or OLVM’s handling of storage domains. Questions: Has anyone tuned GlusterFS or OLVM for better performance in similar scenarios? Are there recommended settings or architectural changes to improve GlusterFS throughput/latency? Any best practices for OLVM storage domain configuration (GlusterFS vs NFS)? Is this performance gap expected, or should I look deeper into my setup? Bugs with Ovirt

Dear Sirs, While using virtualization system Ovirt our company meets a bug in the Snapshoot removal service. When trying to delete Snapshoot in the VM with 2 disks the removal service got hung up and generated unavailability error. Just VM switch-off via request poweroff terminates a frozen process. Please let us know if you know about this bug and if you have any solutions to fix the bug. Is oVirt a dead project ???

Based on the lack of list activity and updates, I am starting to think oVirt is a dead project. I sure hope not. It is a great product. My two cents: Whomever at Red Hat decided to abandon RHEV is an idiot. j/s Does anyone know if Oracle plans to fund the oVirt project? I think it would be a great move on their part. I believe virtualization still has a future for years to come. If oVirt is a dead project, what is the next best choice enterprise virtualization? ProxMox? Microsoft Hypervisor? Something else? Feedback is appreciated because I manage/recommend virtualization solutions for several small- and medium-sized companies.
