1. I install the ovirt node 4.2 in KVM on centos 7. when i try to install package or yum update it shows the message" Cannot retrieve metalink for repository: ovirt-4.2-epel/x86_64. Please verify its path and try again Uploading Enabled Repositories Report Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, product-id Cannot upload enabled repos report, is this client registered?" this system have full internet access please give me the solution for this issue 2. We need to test ovirt node and ovirt engine for load balance in vm so please help me or have any unregister ovirt node 3. In Web GUI of Ovirt node console the "Domain Join option is disable" is possible to enable

After adding a disk via GUI the VM does not start anymore

Hi, when I add a disk to a debian 9 VM the VM cannot boot anymore. The VM is stating that /dev/sda1 cannot be found anymore. When I remove the added disk everything works as before. Could someone please give me a hint what went wrong ? The hypervisor host is a Centos 7.5 system. Matze

The temporary password when I try to connect to VM via open-source spice

Hi,In ovirt 3.5 Stages: 1.Download and install the spice client for windows 2.Input IP+Port to connect vm 3.Tips me need to enter the password. And I found the password is about to ovirt,I also successfully login VM after I entered the password via some way.The password is also temporary. So i wanto know whether I can delete the temporary password.

ovirt-host-upgrade failed on centos 7.5 host with new ansible 2.7.1+ and its default yum: dnf backend

Hi, i found an permanent updates avail on centos 7.5 host with ovirt 4.2.7.5-1-el7 and ansible 2.7.1+. Background: ansible 2.7.1+ "auto use" the yum: backend. The new avail backend and auto selected backend "yum 4" uses "dnf" and didn't recognize the attribute "update_cache: yes" in yum: ansible task. #### Solution: * switch backend to old yum style. # diff /usr/share/ovirt-engine/playbooks/roles/ovirt-host-upgrade/tasks/main.yml.orig /usr/share/ovirt-engine/playbooks/roles/ovirt-host-upgrade/tasks/main.yml 11a12 > use_backend: yum * on ovirt node the file and the problem didn't exists. best regards. About Windows guest agent

Hi, I am new in oVirt and I'd like to get the clarification about the packages which support the function of Window guest agent from 4.2 release and how to build it. I looked through the document from ovirt.org, such as https://www.ovirt.org/documentation/internal/guest-agent/guest-agent-for-wi… It mentioned: "With the release of oVirt 3.5 we have introduced the oVirt WGT (Windows Guest Tools). The oVirt WGT provides an ISO with all the tools and drivers one needs to install on a Windows VM, with an easy to use installer to install it all in one step. So manual compilation and installation of oVirt Guest Agent is no longer necessary. The oVirt WGT ISO is included in ovirt-guest-tools-iso-3.5-7.noarch.rpm package." Now, ovirt-guest-tools-iso is up to 4.2.4. I found the src rpm from https://resources.ovirt.org/pub/ovirt-4.2/rpm/el7/SRPMS/ovirt-guest-tools-i…, but I could not find ovirt-guest-tools-iso from github, only found ovirt-wgt. After clone the ovirt-wgt, I got the SPICE-tools-0.141.iso built. My question is : 1. Is ovirt-wgt used for Windows guest? 2. If so, how can I build ovirt-guest-tools-iso package or ovirt-tools-setup.iso Thanks, Jingjie

Call for translators: Russian and Czech

Hi, one of the beta release criteria is that supported languages have translations at least at 70% of completion. According to zanata[1] we currently have Chinese (Simplified, China) (zh-Hans-CN): 95.1% Czech (cs): 33.97% French (fr) 95.1% German (de) 95.1% Italian (it) 85.84% Japanese (ja): 95.1% Korean (ko) 95.1% Portuguese (Brazil) (pt-BR): 95.1% Russian (ru): 25.17% Spanish (es): 95.1% So, right now Czech and Russian are not meeting release criteria for beta release and are candidate to be disabled in 4.3 unless translators pushes the missing parts. [ovrit-users] Anyone with Fiber Channel oVirt Storage Experience?

I just have a few simple questions, have you migrated a fiber channel storage domain from one ovirt environment to another? And how did it go, did it just work aside from having to import all the vms and configure their settings was it any more difficult than that? We want to migrate our fiber channel storage with VM's intact from an oVirt 4.1 environment to a brand new oVirt 4.2 environment. We are using fiber channel via An HP MSA. I do not for see any issues, but since we have never done it before, and we do not have spare Fiber Channel storage to test with, we are just unsure of what the behavior should be. So just wanted to get some opinions or basic guidance, is there anything we should watch out for and does it "just work". -- Jacob Green Systems Admin 713-300-5690

External VMs automatically deleted when powered down

Hi, I have a pressing problem with oVirt, which is sadly languishing as a bug report (#1610917), so I thought I would also raise it here in case anyone else has experience of this and can suggest a workaround or, better yet, a solution to my problem :o) Simply put, the problem is this. I have oVirt 4.2.7 installed on a Cent-OS 7.5 server. It is also necessary, due to various factors, to run what oVirt terms "external VMs" on this server, i.e. ones not managed by oVirt but managed separately, e.g. via virt-manager or virsh. The problem is that once these VMs are shut down (e.g. within the VM or by a command from virt-manager), they are automatically deleted by oVirt some 15 seconds later. The bug report noted above has more details, but these VMs are not created as temporary VMs, and when running the older oVirt 4.1.x or 3.8.x versions, this didn't happen. Looking through the oVirt and libvirt logs, it is really clear that oVirt is responsible for deleting these VMs, so I can rule out any other nefarious agent! Does anyone know of a way of preventing oVirt from deleting external VMs, like a special config option or something? Or does anyone know how to mark a VM as "protected from deletion"? I know oVirt VMs have an option for "delete protection", but oVirt gives the error "Cannot edit VM. This VM is not managed by the engine." if you try to enable it on an external VM.
