oVirt Engine in a container

Hey, if you are using docker or atomic, then you might be interested that you can get a fully configured and running oVirt Engine (based on CentOS and oVirt 3.5) from the docker repositories. I'm not the first one who gave it a go, Moran [also] [did] this. My work is similar to his, I just tried to leverage some enhancements which popped up in the last 6 months - mainly the integration with the `atomic` command and a simpler integration with systemd. The image is based on this [Dockerfile] and [this atomic installation script] to perform the engine setup on deployment. With the `atomic` command the usage is quite easy: atomic install fabiand/ovirt-engine-3.5 # or ADMINPW=foo atomic install fabiand/ovirt-engine-3.5 With `docker` it's a few more lines: export IMAGE=docker.io/fabiand/ovirt-engine-3.5 export NAME=ovirt-engine-3.5 # Use a transient (--rm) container to create the real the container docker run --rm -v /:/host \ -e FQDN=$(hostname) \ -e ADMINPASSWORD=${ADMINPW:-ovirt} \ -e NAME=$NAME \ -e IMAGE=$IMAGE \ $IMAGE container/atomic-install.sh After this run you can access oVirt Engine on port 80 and 443 of that host. Is it a plausible configuration?

Would you please tell me if this configuration is doable or there is something that i am missing? I would like to use only two servers (X and Y) for VDI and Gluster based storage. Hosted engine for oVirt and replicated volumes between X and Y for the gluster storage. Is a third machine Z a must?

ovirt-guest-agent on EL7 not starting up correctly, requires restart

Hello, after deploying a few CentOS7.1 hosts I realized that the ovirt-guest-agent does not start up correctly at system boot, requiring a manual restart. Afterwards it is reporting data to engine. Virtualised ovirt-engine?

Hello I'm trying to find out a few things about ovirt, besides that it's an fantastic product. I can find a draft describing virtualising the ovirt engine on the ovirt nodes, but i can't find it described much in other places, not saying it's not there :), but at least my eyes does not find it :) Does anyone have some insight towards this? Expand the OS disk windows 2003 crash the VM

Hi, I have created one VM with windows 2003 standard R2....with 3GB disk space...after installation i have installed all the drivers and shutdown the VM and expand the disk....after expand the disk VM cannot come up... Reproduce the problem :- 1. Create the windows 2003 VM 2. Disk will be IDE... 3. Install it via cd-rom.. 4. Installed successfully...now install the virtio drivers... 5. shutdown the VM... 6.
