oVirt 3.5: Issue with FC Storage on EL7 host

Just a heads up I ran into an issue with adding a Fibre Channel storage domain on a CentOS 7 host. vdsm-4.16.7-1.gitdb83943.el7.x86_64 from oVirt 3.5 Release repo This version of vdsm still has the code in /usr/share/vdsm/storage/hba.py that performs issue_lip to rescan fibre channel HBAs. In my setup, the HBA paths are still recovering when 'dmsetup status' is run resulting in paths being offline and the LUNs being made unavailable to oVirt (UI shows exclamation mark). Issue discussed here: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1159839 Quick workaround that worked for me: (1) Comment line 107 in /usr/share/vdsm/storage/multipath.py i.e.: #supervdsm.getProxy().hbaRescan() (2) Restart supervdsmd systemctl restart supervdsmd.service Regards Paul

replace ovirt engine host

Hello List, currently i am testing backup and restore of my ovirt engine host. So far the backup and recovery works. Since i have a nfs ISO_DOMAIN i need to remount the nfs mounts on my vdsm hosts/nodes. This is kinda ugly but okay :) However, my storage information seems to go weird. It looks like the ovirt engine gets confused about the current status. Do i have to restart vdsm after replacing the ovirt engine? When i put connect my original ovirt engine again the cluster status is okay... I test this by unplugging the original ovirt engine host network cable and doing a restore on a connrected 2nd machine. So i guess my question is: How do i replace my ovirt engine smoothly in a production enviorment? Thanks, Mario

Multiple ISO Storage Domains

Hello: How does one create multiple ISO domains ? if I try it just throws a general error "Error while executing action New NFS Storage Domain: Error creating a storage domain". And if the question is asked why would one require multiple ISO domains its when one has clusters in multiple data centers. Thanks, Phil

Is it possible to stop the snapshot merging process?

I got some failed storage during the snapshot merging. The GUI shows the task is in Finalizing status. I would like to stop this task. lather I can restore it from the Export in to another DC. thanks, Arman.

USB redirect

Hello everybody, I have an oVirt 3.4 deployment and I have some Windows 7 Enterprise 32 bits guests. I can't redirect USB from a Windows 7 client. I'm using remote - viewer as console. Also I have observed something wrong in my administration portal. The oVirt documentation says that I have to select Native USB mode in console properties in VM configuration but after select this mode, it doesn't remain. If I check this value in console configuration again I can see disabled, native mode value have been changed. Is there someone have had this problem?, and how I can solve it?, is it necessary to install in Windows clients us clerk software? Many thanks in advanced. Juanjo.

[ANN] oVirt snapshots available for testing on EL7

The oVirt team is pleased to announce that the 3.5 and master nightly snapshot repositories[1] have been update including builds for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 (or similar) for testing. Please note that mirrors may need usually one day before being synchronized. If you want to be sure to use latest rpms and don't want to wait for the mirrors, you can edit /etc/yum.repos.d/ovirt-3.5-snapshot.repo or /etc/yum.repos.d/ovirt-master-snapshot.repo commenting the mirror line and removing the comment on baseurl line. Hi, Release criteria discussion started on 2014-10-22 and should end today as per current release process [1]. Current options are: 1) keeping the same release criteria we had for 3.5 [2] 2) review the proposed changes [3] and prepare new release criteria for 3.6 Release management for 3.6.0 has been created [4] The key milestones for this release must be scheduled: Key Milestones Release criteria discussion start: 2014-10-22 Release criteria ready: 2014-11-12 Feature freeze: 60 Days before release First Test Day: 45 days before release Release Candidate: 30 days before release Release: 6 months after oVirt 3.5.0 release Two different proposals have been made about above scheduling [5]: 1) extend the cycle to 10 months for allowing to include a large feature set 2) reduce the cycle to less than 6 months and split features over 3.6 and 3.7 Feature proposed for 3.6.0 must now be collected in the 3.6 google doc [9] and reviewed by maintainers. A tracker bug for 3.6.0 has been created [6] and currently shows no blockers. There are 399 bugs [7] targeted to 3.6.0. Excluding node and documentation bugs we have 379 bugs [8] targeted to 3.6.0.
