[Users] Supported browser for oVirt-manager UI

Hi, I used google chrome 17, Mozilla firefox and Knoquerer browser to access the ovirt-manager, but all of them say that browser is not supported. [Users] Change virtual disk interface

I have serveral "old" KVM virtual images, all off them using virtio for networking and disks. Trying to import these into my EXPORT datastore ends up with an error: virt-v2v -i libvirt -o rhev -os 10.0.0.3:/nfs/export -n br0 PXE5-test PXE5.img: 100% [=====================================================] virt-v2v: WARNING: Unable to convert this guest operating system. Its storage will be transfered and a domain created for it, but it may not operate correctly without manual reconfiguration. The domain will present all storage devices as ide, all network interfaces as rtl8139 and the host as x86_64. virt-v2v: PXE5-test configured without virtio drivers. How can I avoid these errors? How can I fix this error. After restoring the image, I am able to change the network interface from rtl8139 to Virtio. However; I cannot change the disk. In the admin console going to Virtual Machines --> <virtual machine> --> Virtual Disks --> <disk> --> Edit gives a menu, but the only option I can change is "is bootable". Options like "Interface" are grey and cannot be modified.

[Users] Trying to understand oVirt terminology.

While reading oVirt Wiki and other related docs, I came across multiple terms that meant the same thing (at least to me). Please take a look and let me know where I am wrong. 1) Difference between RHEV and oVirt node - oVirt node has VDSM and libvirt whereas RHEV only has libvirt. 2) 'RHEV-M server' is same as 'oVirt Engine Mgmt Server' is same as 'oVirt Engine'. 3) 'oVirt API' is same as 'REST API' is same as 'RHEV-M API' which is same as 'oVirt Engine API'. 4) 'Host Agent' is same as VDSM 5) 'oVirt Node API' is same as VDSM API. Question ) Guest Agent is running on VM. How does it get installed there? Regards, Sharad Mishra

1. For ovirt, and future rhev, what's the recommended way going forward: ovirt node vs vsdm? 2. For ovirt, and future rhev, libvirt would be supported i think, what's the recommended way in terms of API going forward? libvirt API or REST API? I am not sure what's the difference between these 2. My understanding is libvirt might only be good for one physical host, and REST API would be good for the whole cluster, is this the case?

[Users] Remove and Add host does not work

Hi, I had a host managed via OE, completely working fine. Was even able to create and run VMs off it. I tried removing the host from the OE (put host into maint. mode and then remove) and when i re-discover the same host, OE just keeps seeing it as Non-responsive. I am able to ssh into the host and see that none of the vdsm processes have been started. I tried doing "Confirm host has been rebooted" on the OE, did not help. I tried putting host into maint. mode and re-activating the host, just doesn't help I waited for ~45 mins thinking OE might connect to the host, start vdsm and get me the Up status but it failed. Do i need to manually start vdsm in such a scenario on the host ? Are there ways or methods to have OE forcibly start vdsm on the host ? thanx, deepak

One can solve it to move /etc/overt-engine to /usr/local/etc/ovirt-engine en create a symbolic link in /etc/ I would like to report a bug, where can do this?

[Users] How to migrate the Ovirt management server/frontend to another machine ? (what files are needed, etc)

Hi. As we are using Fedora16 as the OS on the frontend I would like to know what files/DB's, etc are needed to migrate the management server/frontend to another machine? I ask as the support life of Fedora is not too long, so for example when FC17 is released I would like to migrate the machine to that - by migrate I mean backup and re-install. Is there any info anywhere showing what files I would need to migrate/backup to a new frontend server? - I assume its going to be a DB and several files - I would just like to know for sure. Ovirt looks really nice btw - thank you to all who made this possible. As a 2nd question - is there an ETA from when RHEL packages are going to be ready? Many regards
