Moving hosted engine to iscsi storage domain

Hello, We are attempting to move a hosted engine from an NFS to an iSCSI storage domain, following the normal backup / restore procedure. With a little intervention in the new hosted engine VM, everything seems to be working with the new engine and the process gets to the point of trying to create the new iSCSI hosted_storage domain. At this point, it fails with "Storage domain cannot be reached. Please ensure it is accessible from the host(s).” The host itself does see the storage, and everything looks fine using iscsiadm and multipath commands. However, if I look at the new hosted_storage domain in the new engine, it’s stuck “unattached” and the “hosted-engine --deploy --restore-from-file …” command loops at the "Please specify the storage you would like to use” step. Please see below for an excerpt of the output and logs, and let me know what additional information I can provide. ovirt hosts unassigned

Hello, we have found ovirt hosts in unassigned states after renewing certificates for oVirt engine via engine-setup --offline. The first launch ended with an error. We had an immutable attribute on the file /etc/pki/ovirt-engine/keys/engine_id_rsa After which we removed the attribute and launched again engine-setup --offline. In the events for each host we see the following errors: VDSM ov3.example.com command Get Host Capabilities failed: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target Is there any way to return the host to normal without losing data?

I've recognized you are a big player in the Oracle Universe; we are currently migrating from Oracle VM Server to Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager. the target was to include also some other Servers from VMware Hypervisor. Hosted Engine Boot Failure Recovery Guidance

Good Day oVirt Community I've experienced a condition whereby the HE on my three-node cluster will not boot. Connecting to the hosted-engine console reveals that the hosted engine is in the "grub rescue" prompt. I don't really know how to rescue the engine from that level of failure but if anybody can give me a quick set of steps to maybe cover that engine I'd appreciate it and certainly give it my best try. If it's easier to re-deploy the engine and leverage a backup file in the process I have such a backup file created yesterday readily available. I would need a link to a process for decommissioning the dead machine, and re-deploying the replacement HE from the backup file. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello! We have a oVirt 4.5.6-1.el8 cluster. oVirt node Centos Stream 8 based. (5pcs) oVirt Hosted Engine Centos stream 8 based. We installed the hosts from an ISO image and the Hosted Engine we deployed from such a host. Hello, I am currently sitting on oVirt 4.5 and I have 5 Linux hosts. I was hoping I could get some insight as to the correct way to get things updated. I am seeing the dashboard throw errors for each of my 5 hosts with the following error: Failed to check for available updates on host _______ with message 'Task Ensure Python3 is installed for CentOS/RHEL8 hosts failed to execute. Hi Community, I am using KVM in RHEL9, and for the web interface, I am using Cockpit. I just learned about the oVirt, and it looks much better than the cockpit. How can install oVirt in my rhel9 without causing an issue? Do I need to uninstall KVM first? Can someone please guide me so that I don't screw things up since I have many virtual machines in the system? Appreciate your help!

Hello, I am creating VM, and disks on VM, and I am occurring a problem, where the logical names of the disks are probably not created / assigned sequentially. Hi, This looks like a bug. We had a same issue with few VMs After Veeam support was involved they redirected us to Oracle as we use OLVM. There was in logs 2024-08-17 01:06:12.1818 00022 [4184461] WARN | [RhvBackupManager]: Failed to create incremental backup, fallback to full backup: RhevClient.Exceptions.RhevServerException: Cannot backup VM: Disk is locked. Please try again later. THe same error was with Vinchin.

Hi, This looks like a bug as we have a same problem. We involved the Veeam support and they redirected us to Oracle as we use oracle version. oVirt networks

Dear all, Ineed your help to understand how to configure the network of a new oVirt cluster. Mynew system will have a 4.3 engine thatruns in a virtual machine, andsome Dell R7525 AMD EPYC hypervisors, eachholding two 4-port PCI network cards. These servers will have node-ovirt image again in version 4.3. As for the network, there are two HPE Aruba 2540G, non-stackable, with 24 1Gbs ports and 2 10Gbs uplinks to the star center. This is a simplified scheme: My goal is to make the most of the server's 8 ethernet interfaces to have both reliability and maximum possible throughput. This cluster will have two virtual networks, one forovirt management and one for the traffic of individual virtual machines. With that said here's what my idea is. I would like to have two links aggregated by 4Gbs, one for ovrtmgt and the other for vmnet. With the ovirt web interface I can createan active-passive "Mode 1" bond, but this won'tallow me to go beyond 1Gbs. Alternatively I could create a "Mode 4" bond 802.3ad but unfortunately the switches are not stacked and therefore not even this solution applies. This is an example with active passive configuration: Can you tell me if ovirt can generate//nested bonds? Or do you have other solutions ? Thanks a lot ! Hi. I have created a new storage domain (data domain, storage type nfs) to use it to upload iso images. I have so uploaded a new iso and then attach the iso to a new vm. But when I try to boot the vm I obtain this error: booting from dvd/cd... boot failed: could not read from cdrom (code 0005) no bootable device The iso file has been uploaded with success in the data storage domain and so the vm lets my attach the iso to the vm in the boot settings. Can you help me? Thank you
