Migrated disk from NFS to iSCSI - Unable to Boot

This is a new one. I migrated from an NFS share to an iSCSI share on a small single node oVirt system (Currently running 4.3.10). After migrating a disk (Virtual Machine -> Disk -> Move), I was unable to boot to it. The console tells me "No bootable device". This is a Centos7 guest. I booted into a CentOS7 ISO and tried a few things... fdisk -l shows me a 40GB disk (/dev/sda). fsck -f tells me "bad magic number in superblock" lvdisplay and pvdisplay show nothing. Even if I can't boot to the drive I would love to recover a couple of documents from here if possible. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am running out of ideas.

oVirt 4.4 Upgrade issue with pki for libvirt-vnc

Greetings, After reverting the ovirt_disk module to the ovirt_disk_28, I'm able to get passed that step, however now I'm running into a new issue. Gluster Domain Storage full

Hello, I'm running oVirt Version 4.3.4.3-1.el7. I have a small GlusterFS Domain storage brick on a dedicated filesystem serving only one VM. The VM filled all the Domain storage. The Linux filesystem has 4.1G available and 100% used, the mounted brick has 0GB available and 100% used I can not do anything with this disk, for example, if I try to move it to another Gluster Domain Storage get the message: Error while executing action: Cannot move Virtual Disk. oVirt 4.4 Upgrade issue?

Greetings, I'm trying to preform an upgrade from 4.3 to 4.4 using the hosted engine option of https://github.com/ovirt/ovirt-ansible-collection. Unfortunately, when it goes to create the hosted engine disk images I get the following: [Cannot move Virtual Disk. The operation is not supported for HOSTED_ENGINE_METADATA disks.] This appears to be related to https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1883817, BUT I've manually applied that patch. Shouldn't it be creating a NEW disk image instead of trying to move the existing one? Any help would be appriciated. Thanks, Lee

Hi team, I have 4 node cluster where in each node I configured 2 dedicated 10 gig NIC with dedicated subnet each ( NIC 1 = 10.10.10.0/24, NIC 2 = 10.10.20.0/24 ) and on the array side I configured 2 targets with 10.10.10.0 /24 & another 2 target with 10.10.20.0/24 subnet. without any errors I could check in all four paths and able to mount iscsi luns in all 4 nodes. However when i try to configure mutipathing at Data center level I could see all the paths but not the logical network, it stays empty although I configured logical network label for both NICs with dedicated names as ISCSI1 & ISCI2. these logical names visible and green at the host network level, no errors, they are just L2 IP config Am I missing something here? what else I should do to enable multiplathing

problems installing standard Linux as nodes in 4.4

Hello, due to missing megaraid_sas kernel module in RH EL 8 and CentOS 8, I'm deploying a new oVirt host using CentOS 8 and elrepo kernel driver and not ovirt node ng. Based on installation guide: - install CentOS 8.2 ("Server" chosen as base environment) - yum install https://resources.ovirt.org/pub/yum-repo/ovirt-release44.rpm - yum install cockpit-ovirt-dashboard - yum update - reboot Try to add host from engine web admin gui, I get: Host ov200 installation failed. Left over hibernation disks that we can't delete

After putting the VMs in our environment into hibernation, one of the VMs that came out of hibernation still has the metadata and memory dumb hanging around as 2 disks with status ok. They are not attached to any VM but we are unable to delete them. The VM in question came out of the hibernation without any issues. If they are no longer required how can we tidy them up? adminstration portal wont complete load, looping

I have an odd situation: When I go to https://ovengine/ovirt-engine/webadmin/?locale=en_US after authentication passes... it shows the top banner of oVirt OPEN VIRTUALIZATION MANAGER and the Loading ... in the center. but never gets past that. Any suggestions on how I could investigate and fix this? background: I recently updated certs to be signed wildcard certs, but this broke consoles somehow. So I restored the original certs, and restarted things... but got stuck with this. Interestingly, the VM portal loads fine. Hello, supposing I'm with an already upgraded 4.4.2 engine and in my environment I still have some 4.3.10 hosts based on CentOS Linux 7.x (or 4.3.10 ng nodes), is it supported to reinstall such host in case of any modification in configuration? Manual VM Migration fails

Hello Everybody, I am having a strange issue. When I try and manually migrate a VM from one host to another, I get an error stating: "Migration failed (VM: VM1, Source: node6.example.com, Destination: node3.example.com)" I have tried with a few different machines, and it pops up with the same error. oVirt test clustered DOA after upgrade to latest 4.4.2 (AFAIK). Network issue?

Hello all, I just upgraded one of my test oVirt setups to latest. Post reboot, the machine lost network and hosted engine didn't start. When I connected to the machine, I noticed all the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-* files disappeared. No idea why / how. (Possibly I did something wrong and forgot about it.) Long story story short, I copied the two missing files (ifcfg-onb0 ethernet device configuration and the ifcfg-ovirtmgmt bridge configuration) from another ovirt host, changed the ovirtmgmt IP address and UUID to match the UUID reported in logs as missing and restarted NetworkManager and restarted all the oVirt related services (vdsmd, supervdsmd, ovirt-*, etc). Sadly enough, even with both onb0 and ovirtmgmt up, vdsm still complains about the missing network (ovirtmgmt) and refuses to start the hosted engine. Reboot doesn't seem to change anything. sr-iov network config assistance IOMMU group error

I'm' trying to bring up a test ovirt 4.4 cluster with sr-iov virtual infiniband interfaces on Mellanox ConnectX-6 cards in some older Opteron servers while we await delivery of new Epyc servers. I have the hypervisors configured for sr-iov and showing the interfaces, but when I try to bring up a VM with the host device selected it fails to boot. "Failed Launching ..." shows up on the engine UI. [image: sriov-hostdev.JPG] The /var/log/libvirt/qemu log for the VM seems to think something is wrong with the IOMMU group. If I scroll over to the right it says N/A under the IOMMU column. Is there some step I need to 'create IOMMU groups' or any other suggestions? ovirt Storage Domain Cluster Filesystem?

Hi all I come from Oracle VM x86 world and we are planning from moving Oracle VM to oVirt. I am having hard time understanding Storage Domains in oVirt. All our storage are SAN and I wonder how can we manage SAN LUN in oVirt to create a storage domain such that the VM guests can run in any host in the oVirt Cluster? For example in Oracle VM the Storage Repository (it is the Storage Domain in OVM words) are based on SAN LUNs and on top of that a cluster filesystem is created so all hosts in the cluster have concurrent access to the storage repository and the VM guest can be started in any of the hosts in the cluster. How do we accomplish the same in oVirt with SAN Storage? Which Cluster Filesystem is supported in Storage Domain? Or perhaps in oVirt the mechanism is totally different? Thank you

Hi Simon, Usually it is the network, but you need real-world data. I would open screen sessions and run ping continiously . Based on this one I make the following conclusions: 1. Issue is reoccuring 2. You most probably have a network issue Have you checked the following: - are there any ping timeouts between fuse clients and gluster nodes - Have you tried to disable fencing and check the logs after the issue reoccurs - Are you sharing Blackup and Prod networks ? Is it possible some backup/other production load in your environment to "black-out" your oVirt ? - Have you check the gluster cluster's logs for anything meaningful ? New host: no network interfaces visible

What could cause no Network Interfaces visible in installing a new host? I have added a new host to oVirt 4.3.10, the initial SSH installs all the packages (all with failed=0 in host-deploy/*log). The installation is shown as failed without any meaningful message. However the Network Interfaces page is blank, what could cause this? Host in CentOS 7.8 tried with/without biosdevname. -- Richard Chan

oVirt 4.4.3 Sixth Release Candidate is now available for testing The oVirt Project is pleased to announce the availability of oVirt 4.4.3 Sixth Release Candidate for testing, as of October 22th, 2020. This update is the third in a series of stabilization updates to the 4.4 series. How to prevent hosts entering emergency mode after upgrade from oVirt 4.4.1 Note: Upgrading from 4.4.2 GA should not require re-doing these steps, if already performed while upgrading from 4.4.1 to 4.4.2 GA. These are only required to be done once. Due to Bug 1837864 <https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1837864> - Host enter emergency mode after upgrading to latest build If you have your root file system on a multipath device on your hosts you should be aware that after upgrading from 4.4.1 to 4.4.3 you may get your host entering emergency mode. In order to prevent this be sure to upgrade oVirt Engine first, then on your hosts: 1. Remove the current lvm filter while still on 4.4.1, or in emergency mode (if rebooted). 2. Reboot. 3. Upgrade to 4.4.3 (redeploy in case of already being on 4.4.3). 4. Run vdsm-tool config-lvm-filter to confirm there is a new filter in place. 5. Only if not using oVirt Node: - run "dracut --force --add multipath” to rebuild initramfs with the correct filter configuration 6. Reboot. sigh. Finally got back around to this. Solved it by creating a subdirectory under the actual share and mounting that. Thanks for the help, Lee
