Hello, I have env1 and env2, both in 4.3 and both configured as single host HCI environments. On both I have the predefined hosted_storage, data and vmstore gluster storage domains. On env1 I have hosted_storage and data on a disk, and vmstore on a whole different disk. I also have a "big2" gluster storage domain created in another disk in a second time. BTW: can I import the previous storage domain named "vmstore" giving anothe r name such as vmstore2, not to create conflict with already existing "vmstore" storage domain or the name is hard coded when importing and creating possible conflict? Strange SD problem

HI, I'm having a strange behavior with a SD. When trying to manage the SD I see they "Add" button for the LUN which should already be the one use for that SD. ovirt 4.4.1.1 hci and problems with ansible 2.9.10 and/or missing python2

Hello, today I wanted to test a single host hci install using ovirt-node-ng-installer-4.4.1-2020071311.el8.iso On this same environment 4.4.0 gui wizard worked ok, apart a final problem with cpu flags and final engine boot up, so I wanted to verify if all is ok now, because that problem should have been fixed But I incurred in the same problems recently discussed here: https://lists.ovirt.org/archives/list/users@ovirt.org/message/3AARZD4VBNNHW… The first part failed because of TASK [gluster.infra/roles/backend_setup : Change to Install lvm tools for RHEL systems.] *** fatal: [novirt2st.storage.local]: FAILED! => {"changed": false, "msg": "The Python 2 yum module is needed for this module. Deployment is only to three as JBOD, 1 drive per node per volume (engine, data, vmstore) utilizing VDO. Thus, deploying even a 100G volume to 1.6TB drive fails with "insufficient free space" error. I suspect this might have to do with the Ansible playbook deploying Gluster mishandling the logical volume creation due to the rounding error as described here: https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_enterprise_linux/6/ht… If I can provide any additional information, logs, etc. please ask. Also, if anyone has experience/suggestions with Gluster config for hyperconverged setup on NVMe drives I would greatly appreciate any pearls of wisdom. Thank you so very much for any assistance! Hello, Thanks to previous answers, I was able to make backups. Unfortunately, we had some infrastructure issues and after the host reboots new problems appeared. I am not able to do any backup using the commands that worked yesterday. Engine deployment fails with engine booting to grub rescue

After working through some DNS problems I was able to install oVirt 4.4.1.1 and progress the engine deployment stops within the ansible scripts. The system deploys the gluster domain, creates the engine, starts the engine, however it will never fully boot and complete the deployment. Bringing up the console of the engine sets it into rescue mode. I have attempted to set the appropriate variables in grub rescue set root=(hd0,msdos1) set prefix=(hd0,msdos1)/boot/grub insmod normal And this will not boot the engine. Is there a procedure to mount a CENTOS 8 rescue CD/ISO to troubleshoot this or is there a specific fix published for this problem? The specific error I am seeing in the Engine Console is "attempt to read outside of HD0. I upgraded the ovirt engine appliance package to ovirt-engine-appliance-4.4-20200716090128.1.el8.x86_64 which produces the same result. I have gotten this error deploying on both my Intel and AMD based servers. any help is appreciated. thanks Andy

ovirt-node-ng-image-update 4.4.1 to 4.4.1.1

All, I applied the recent update 4.4.1 -> 4.4.1.1 to a host in a cluster and it failed. After reboot it was hund at the emergency console. I reinstalled 4.4.1 fresh on the host. Prior to adding it back to the cluster I applied the same update with the same result. Is this just a bad update or is the post install script bad. Thanks, David.

mixed hyperconverged?

I'm thinking of doing an SSD based hyperconverged setup (for 4.3), but am wondering about certain design issues. seems like the optimal number is 3 nodes for the glusterfs. but.. I want 5 host nodes, not 3 and I want the main storage for VMs to be separate iSCSI NAS boxes. Is it possible to have 3 nodes be the hyperconverged stuff.. but then add in 2 "regular" nodes, that dont store anything and arent part of the cluster? is it required to be part of the gluster cluster, to also be part of the ovirt cluster, if thats where the hosted-engine lives? or can I just have the hosted engine be switchable between the 3 nodes, and the other 2 be VM-only hosts? Any recommendations here? I dont what 5 way replication going on. Nor do I want to have to pay for large SSDs on all my host nodes. Ovirt 4.4.1 Install failure at OVF_Store check

I am trying to freshly install oVirt 4.4.1 with HCI on CentOS 8.2. I am using the "hosted-engine --deploy" script and the installation fails at "Check the OVF Store" consistently. I did try to apply the fix loaded on Jenkins (https://jenkins.ovirt.org/job/ovirt-hosted-engine-setup_standard-check-patc…) which produced the same result. Any help is appreciated and I ma working to attached the install log. Thanks Andy

What permission do I need to get API access

We use LDAP authentication to login to ovirt cluster, actually, admin and another user account have to access API with no problem. My account does cannot access to API despite that had SuperUser privileges than those accounts that already access API. Every time I tried to access API I get next message: Error during SSO authentication access_denied: Cannot authenticate user 'diagsbuilder(a)ralntdom.rtptgcs.com': No valid profile found in credentials.. The account does exist and permissions to enter to portal vms What do need to do to grant access to API?

Hello, isn't there an official major/minor numbering scheme for virtio disks? Sometimes I see 251 major or 252 or so... what is the udev assignment logic? Reading here: https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/admin-guide/devices.txt 240-254 block LOCAL/EXPERIMENTAL USE Allocated for local/experimental use. For devices not assigned official numbers, these ranges should be used in order to avoid conflicting with future assignments. it seems they are in the range of experimental ones, while for example Xen /dev/xvdx devices have their own static assignment (202 major) Thanks, Gianluca

I find it odd that the ovirt website allows to see older version RELEASE NOTES... but doesnt seem to give links to general documentation for older versions. Hi, I've searched to no avail: is it possible to use video virtio (instead of qxl) in a VM managed by oVirt? I have much better performance with video virtio when testing this with "plain" libvirt. I would have at least expected to find some feature request or something alike when searching. Does anybody know anything about this being on some ToDo list? Or has this really escaped everybody's notice? - Michael

Admin portal will not load after installing updates

After installing updates on our ovirt-engine running CentOS 7.8 the administration portal will no longer load.
