Hello, I'm importing a VM into a new oVirt environment that is in 4.3.10: the new host is the same as the previous one (only difference it is in 4.3.10 while the old one in 4.3.9). This VM acted as a single host HCI environment (with 4.3.9). I imported the storage domain containing the VM and its disks and the VM boots ok. Now its Hosted Engine VM (that is so a nested VM) doesn't start. oVirt Network problem.

Hello, I am new to oVirt. I have a problem and I don't know how to deal with it, i added another network besides the management network and after that the node did not respond to the oVIrt manager. I had to change the DNS to the new IP of the new network so that oVIrt manager can manage it. Now i have an error: Out-of-sync: Default route: host true, DC false. I checked on the node and the second network has DEFROUTE=NO and the management network to yes. I don't know why the manager is seeing that. Also the management IP does not respond to ping or anything. Please some advice for a newbie? The setup is: A standalone server with Centos7 and oVIrt manager installed and a node with ovirt node os. Reinstall failed on 4.4.1.1 with custom kernel settings

Hi, after the upgrade from 4.4.1 to 4.4.1.1, it seems that I cannot reinstall adding custom kernel settings. In my case, I'm trying to add "ixgbe.allow_unsupported_sfp=1" to cmdline but reinstall process fails without showing any relevant error in /var/log/vdsm/vdsm.log. I did the same test on version 4.4.1 and it works without problems. On version 4.4.1 I tried to (1) add a parameter with reinstall, (2) add a second parameter and reinstall, (3) remove all params and reinstall and (4) finally add only one custom param with reinstall. All tests are ok on version 4.4.1 and the problem happens only on version 4.4.1.1. Please, have you some idea on how to solve the issue? Is this a bug? Thank you, Marco

OVA import does not upload disks

Hello, I'm running 4.3.5.4-1.el7. I've exported a VM as OVA and now I'm trying to import it in another Data Center (it's like a DR Data Center) Import runs successfully both from GUI and from Ansible, but imported VM disks are empty and the VM fails to boot. (One thing more in my case, the standalone Manager needs to be installed on EL8 and not like documents says on EL7. With EL7 load is gives an error that Engine for EL7 is not avaiable. Hi all, in our environment, CentOS7 and RHEL7 for the most part (Ovirt 4.3 and RHV 4.3), we are able to set a proxy directly in /etc/yum.conf (or on the single repo) to momentarily bypass some network restrictions. The proxy settings looks like this: proxy=http://our-proxy.domain:8080 proxy_username=user proxy_password=password But is also works properly when it is set directly from CLI, and this is the one we use more often: export http_proxy=http://user:password@our-proxy.domain:8080 export https_proxy=https://user:password@our-proxy.domain:8080 We are having difficulties to set the same proxy on CentOS8 / Ovirt 4.4.x. There is no way the proxy settings allows us to run "yum update". Good morning, i have installed a new ovirt 4.3.10 enviroment but sometimes on the events of some hosts i read this error message: VDSM node-1-ra command Get Host Capabilities failed: Message timeout which can be caused by communication issues Due to this issue hosts are in unresponsive state and the only way to resolve this is and activate host in the cluster, is to restart the ovirt engine service. oVirt install questions

I'm reading through all of the documentation at https://ovirt.org/documentation/, and am a bit overwhelmed with all of the different options for installing oVirt. My particular use case is that I'm looking for a way to manage VMs on multiple physical servers from 1 interface, and be able to deploy new VMs (or delete VMs) as necessary. Ideally, it would be great if I could move a VM from 1 host to a different host as well, particularly in the event that 1 host becomes degraded (bad HDD, bad processor, etc...) I'm trying to figure out what the difference is between an oVirt Node and the oVirt Engine, and how the engine differs from the Manager. I get the feeling that `Engine` = `Manager`. Same thing. I further think I understand the Engine to be essentially synonymous with a vCenter VM for ESXi hosts. Is this correct? If so, then what's the difference between the `self-hosted` vs the `stand-alone` engines? oVirt Engine requirements look to be a minimum of 4GB RAM and 2CPUs. oVirt Nodes, on the other hand, require only 2GB RAM. Is this a requirement just for the physical host, or is that how much RAM that each oVirt node process requires? In other words, if I have a physical host with 12GB of physical RAM, will I only be able to allocate 10GB of that to guest VMs? How much of that should I dedicated to the oVirt node processes? Can you install the oVirt Engine as a VM onto an existing oVirt Node? And then connect that same node to the Engine, once the Engine is installed? Reading through the documentation, it also sounds like oVirt Engine and oVirt Node require different versions of RHEL or CentOS. I read that the Engine for oVirt 4.4.0 requires RHEL (or CentOS) 8.2, whereas each Node requires 7.x (although I'll plan to just use the oVirt Node ISO). I'm also wondering about storage. I don't really like the idea of using local storage, but a single NFS server would also be a single point of failure, and Gluster would be too expensive to deploy, so at this point, I'm leaning towards using local storage. Strange SD problem

Hello, today I wanted to test a single host hci install using ovirt-node-ng-installer-4.4.1-2020071311.el8.iso On this same environment 4.4.0 gui wizard worked ok, apart a final problem with cpu flags and final engine boot up, so I wanted to verify if all is ok now, because that problem should have been fixed But I incurred in the same problems recently discussed here: https://lists.ovirt.org/archives/list/users@ovirt.org/message/3AARZD4VBNNHW… The first part failed because of TASK [gluster.infra/roles/backend_setup : Change to Install lvm tools for RHEL systems.] *** fatal: [novirt2st.storage.local]: FAILED! => {"changed": false, "msg": "The Python 2 yum module is needed for this module. Deployment is only to three as JBOD, 1 drive per node per volume (engine, data, vmstore) utilizing VDO. Thus, deploying even a 100G volume to 1.6TB drive fails with "insufficient free space" error. I suspect this might have to do with the Ansible playbook deploying Gluster mishandling the logical volume creation due to the rounding error as described here: https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_enterprise_linux/6/ht… If I can provide any additional information, logs, etc. please ask.
