DR different number of Host

Hello, Currently i have a standalone ovirt on a primary site and planning to create a DR but my DR lacks a baremetal that has a same resources on primary site. is it possible on DR to have multiple hyper-visors then automatically assign where the vm should run/attach automatically?

HostedEngine migration fails with VM destroyed during the startup.

Dear oVirt, I have problem migrating HostedEngine, only HA VM server, to other HA nodes. Bit of background story: * We have oVirt SHE 4.3.5 * Three Nodes act as HA pool for SHE * Node 3 is currently Hosting SHE * Actions: * Put Node1 in Maintenance mode, all VMs were successfully migrated, than Upgrade packages, Activate Host – all looks good * Put Node2 in Maintenance mode, all VMs were successfully migrated, than Upgrade packages, Activate Host – all looks good Not the problem: Try to set Node3 in Maintenance mode, all VMs were successfully migrated, except HostedEngine. Error with LDAP

Hello everyone. I have previously configured LDAP connexion though ovirt-engine-extension-aaa-ldap-setup. The only working configuration was IBM Security Directory Server (the IBM Security Directory Server RFC-2307 Schema doesn't work), ladps and anonymous search user. But the LDAP server I’m testing is OpenLDAP and not IBM. Indeed with IBM the search and login are working fine when I test them with ovirt-engine-extensions-tool aaa. But when I try to add a LDAP User in the User Administration Panel I get this Error message : "Error while executing action AddUser : Internal Engine Error". None of the solutions I've found on previous threads seems to works. Does someone have an idea please ? Please find the logs attached. Thank you beforehand. I've been part of this mailing list for a while now and have received a lot of great advice and help on various subjects. I read the list daily and one thing I've noticed is that many users are curious about backup options for oVirt (myself included). I wanted to share with the community a solution I've come up with to easily backup multiple running oVirt VMs to OVA format using some basic Ansible playbooks. Hi Jeremy, I think you must have run the engine-setup before the restore, the restore is designed to restore to a clean install or the previous install with the same credentials. Hi all, Since we upgraded our Ovirt nodes to CentOS 7 a vm (not a specific one but never more then one) will sometimes pause suddenly with the error "VM ... has paused due to unknown storage error". It happens now two times in a month. The Ovirt node uses san storage for the vm's running on it. When a specific vm is pausing with an error the other vm's keeps running without problems. The vm runs without problems after unpausing it. foreman integration

I have ovirt 4.3 and foreman 1.9.3. both with self signed certificates. Foreman is a vm on the ovirt cluster. I added foreman as an external provider in ovirt, but when I try to add ovirt as a compute resource in foreman I get an ssl error. I found several fixes that prevented the error but the data center and quota fields would not populate. The exact error is: Unable to save SSL_connect returned=1 errno=0 state=error: certificate verify failed Has anyone else had this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there, for two weeks we are trying to move our hosted engine to a glusterfs storage resulting in an error "Domain format is different from master storage domain format". The newly created storage domain has version 5 (default since compatibility level 4.3 according to documentation). Hosted engine version is 4.3.8.2-1.el7 All hosts are updated to the latest versions and are rebooted. Cluster and DataCenter compatibility version is 4.3. Master data domain and all other domains are Format V4 and there is no V5 available in dropdown menus. Even if I try to create a new storage domain from manager there is only V4 available. The system and all hosts where installed march 2019 so it was ovirt release 4.3.2 or 4.3.1 which created the existing domains. Is there a way to update the master storage domain to V5? Hi All, I found that there is rarely topics about supporting dpdk in ovirt 4.2 in Internet except https://blogs.ovirt.org/2018/07/upgraded-dpdk-support-in-ovirt/; and I can't get information such as whether or not should I install dpdk or ovn manual? And I will get an error when I execute such cmds: ansible-playbook ovirt.dpdk-setup/tasks/main.yml ansible-playbook oVirt.dpdk-setup I have some experience about ovn and dpdk, but I can't make ovirt supporting dpdk according the instruction in https://blogs.ovirt.org/2018/07/upgraded-dpdk-support-in-ovirt/; Is there anybody helping me? Hi, I have previously configured LDAP though ovirt-engine-extension-aaa-ldap-setup. The only working configuration was IBM Security Directory Server (the IBM Security Directory Server RFC-2307 Schema doesn't work), ladps and anonymous search user. With this one the search and login are working fine when I test them with ovirt-engine-extensions-tool aaa. But when I try to add a LDAP User in the User Administration Panel I get this Error message : "Error while executing action AddUser : Internal Engine Error" None of the solutions I've found on previous threads seems to works. Hi Eric- Glad you got thought that part. I don’t use iscsi backed volumes for my gluster storage, so I don’t much advice for you there. I’ve cc’d the ovirt users list back in, someone there may be able to help you futher. It’s good practice to reply to the list and specific people when conversing here, so you might want to watch to be sure you don’t drop the cc: in the future. Re: the storage master, it’s not related to where the VM disks are stored. Once you mange to get a new storage domain setup, you’ll be able to create disks on whichever domain you want, and that is how you determine what VM disk is hooked up to what. You can even have a VM with disks on multiple storage domains, can be good for high performance needs. The SDM may even move around if a domain become unavailable. You may want to check the list archives for discussion on this, I seem to recall some in the past. I currently have 3 nodes, one is the engine node and 2 Centos 7 hosts, and I plan to add another Centos 7 KVM host once I get all the vm's migrated. I have san storage plus the raid 5 internal disks. All OS are installed on mirrored SAS raid 1. I want to use the raid 5 vd's as exports, ISO and use the 4TB iscsi for the vm's to run on. The iscsi has snapshots hourly and over write weekly. So here is my question: I want to add glusterfs, but after further reading, that should have been done in the initial setup. I am not new to Linux, but new to Ovirt and need to know if I can implement glusterfs now or if it's a start from scratch situation. I really don't want to start over but would like the redundancy. Any advice is appreciated. Eric
