Cleaning up after failed task

Hi, Yesterday I had an AddDisk operation fail. The task is no longer running on the SPM but it's stuck in the engine DB and the failed disk is now locked. I've tried to clean it out using taskcleaner.sh, but either I'm using it incorrectly or it doesn't handle my specific scenario. There were no running tasks (-T returned empty set). There were two commands (-o) which I then removed (-r) but the Engine UI is still reporting the tasks. hosted-engine restore bug?

Hello everyone, im running on ovirt 4.3.5 For some strange reason the httpd service couldn't start on my hosted engine so i could not access the Web interface.After various unsuccessful attempts to fix it, I decided to restore the hosted engine. Following the steps: 1.engine-cleanup 2.db had to delete it manually using rm -rf /var/lib/pgsql/data 3.engine-backup --mode=restore --file=backup_file --log=log_file_name --provision-db --no-restore-permissions 4.engine-setup On step 3 it keeps coming with error messages "FATAL: Can't connect to database 'ovirt_engine_history'. Please see '/usr/bin/engine-backup --help'. i need to get this hosted-engine up and running so please advice

I had issues with installation too, but I end up separating the interfaces. Dear oVirt Would you be so kind to help out clarifying if and how is IPv6 supported with -ansible / ovirt_vm / cloud-init boot protocol. I have created a VM template which by default uses cloud-init with following: [cid:image001.png@01D5251F.E55FEAA0] When I boot the VM from UI, each VM gets IPv4 DHCP and IPv6 DHCP6 address, default cloud-init setup and we have infrastructure for both IPv4 and IPv6. However, when calling same template via Ansible ovirt_vm, using following: cloud_init_nics: |~ - nic_name: eth0 |~ nic_boot_protocol: dhcp |~ nic_on_boot: true each VM receives only IPv4 DHCP and only IPv6 RA, but not DHCP IPv6. Looking at booted VM, following options are not set: * /etc/sysconfig/network => NETWORKING_IPV6=yes * Or /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 => DHCPV6C=yes and IPV6INIT=yes We need IPv6 DHCP6 address , especially for registering it host with DNS AAAA record. Hello, I wrote a playbook for workflow that automates a vm creation from a template/cloud-init and then add it to our supervision engine and finally to our backup system. All currently works fine with awx. You can also deploy a spacewalk-based system for central repository management. I am using uyuni project for local VM repo, but it should be able to sync the oVirt repos without any issues. Of course, spacewalk requires some basic knowledge but it's not a rocket science. Windows Server 2019: Driver Signature Enforcement

Hello, I’m running oVirt 4.3.0 and installing Windows Server 2019 with UEFI Secure Boot is impossible with the bundled VirtIO drivers. Windows complains about invalid signatures on vioscsi.sys. The only way to boot the system is halting the process with F8 and them selecting: Disable Driver Signature Enforcement. So, what’s the recommended way to solve this? There’s no signed drivers? Does anyone have a positive experience with physical host to oVirt conversion?

Hello, Just would like to check if it really possible to convert old Centos6 based physical box into oVirt 4.3 VM? I haven't been able to find any success stories on this and process seems a bit complicated. As I understand it I need a virt-v2v conversion proxy + image with virt-p2v running on physical host which needs to be converted. I'm a bit lost how I can get the converted VM into oVirt cluster than? -- Regards, Artem

ovirt-engine/api/imagetransfers - Indefinitely locked snapshot image if transfer does not start within 2 minutes

I've noticed an issue but I've not found any bugs related to this so it's not clear if it's a bug and just not been reported or if I'm missing something. It seems if using the ovirt-engine/api/imagetransfers call with a POST request such as say <image_transfer><snapshot id="b16290c4-6eef-469f-962d-31e9b76638e9"/><direction>download</direction></image_transfer> is done and more then two minutes pass (where the the ovirt-imageio-proxy/ovirt-imageio-daemon deletes the ticket), you can no longer download the snapshot image. I think this part is normal, HOWEVER the snapshot image remains locked indefinitely in this case. If the image starts transferring/downloading within the 2 minutes where the ovirt-imageio-proxy/ovirt-imageio-daemon ticket is valid, all is well and at the end of the transfer the snapshot image is automatically unlocked. oVirt 4.2.8.7-0.1.el7ev Anyone seen this before? What am I missing? - Justin

SSL Error adding new host

Hello, I have i running cluster ad I have to add a new host. Current cluster has AMD type cpu, new host has intel CPU su I added a new cluster in same datacenter (datacenter default compatibility 4.2). New Host is running node 4.3.4, engine is 4.3.4.3-1.el7 The new host is attached to ths new cluster, but engine can't connect. HE Fails to install on oVirt 4.3.4

Hi Guys, I have tried installing oVirt 4.3.4 using ovirt-node-ng-installer-4.3.4-2019061016.el7.iso and ovirt-engine-appliance-4.3-20190610.1.el7.x86_64.rpm Gluster install works fine, but HE deployment fails every time at last "waiting for host to be up". I have tried the deployment on multiple different hardware types, also tried single Vs 3 node deployments and all fail at the same point. I suspect that the IP in the HE is not being correctly configured as i see qemu running, but ansible times out and cleans up the fail install. Any ideas on why this is happening? i will try add the logs I am going to try using a older HE appliance rpm to see if that fixes the issue.

USB Passtrough device problem

Hi, I've tried to use 2 different audio IO interfaces connected to a VM via USB passthrough and none worked. I've tried with win 10 and win server 2016 vms with different errors but none worked. I've connected the devices to a host, then attached the host device to a VM and in the VM properties I've enabled the USB support in the console properties. The devices are installed and don't show any error in the device manager within the VM, but they don't work. Should I do something else? Regards

Snapshots and quotas

Hi! We are using oVirt 4.1.9 with quotas enabled. The usual quota is 40GB per user, usually used for a webserver. It is created from a template with a 40GB disk. When such users try to create a snapshot of their VM, oVirt blocks the operation with "Cannot create Snapshot. Quota has insufficient storage resources." I could increase the quota to 2x size. But then users would create additional disks, snapshot creation would fail due to insufficient storage resources and we're back to square one. I could increase "Storage Grace" to 200%. It would take users longer to figure out that they can create additional disk even if the quota showed 100% full. But sooner or later we would be back to square one. Is it possible to exclude snapshots from the quota system? Kind regards, Mitja P.S. "Storage Threshold" is currently set to 80% and "Storage Grace" to 120%. Where can we change the default settings to something else? E.g. new quotas would have "Storage Threshold" set to 90% and "Storage Grace" to 160%.

Hi to all! I can't use the after_xxxx hooks in the guest agent (version: 1.0.16-1.el7) installed in a centos 7 machine in a ovirt 4.3 cluster, but the before_xxxxx hooks are executed without problem The same machine in an old ovirt cluster was ok with the same hooks.
