ansible role for setting up ovirt-engine development environment

Hi all, I created an ansible role for setting up ovirt-engine development environment. If you are not familiar with ansible, it's a tool for getting a machine into a specific 'state'. A role is a 'type' of machine, like 'db server' or 'web server' or 'dev rig.' Roles are 'applied' to machines. So you can apply the ovirt-engine-devel role to setup a working development environment instantly. It works over ssh or locally. You can see it in action here: https://imgur.com/a/FwEkmy5? Unable to start VM on host with OVS networking

I have a production ovirt setup that's gone through multiple updates over the years. At some point when 4.0 or 4.1 came out, I switched from legacy networking to OVS, and everything worked perfectly until I upgraded to 4.2. Since I upgraded to 4.2, I've been getting messages that the networks were all out of sync, but everything continued working properly. Today I tracked down the network sync problem, fixed it on one of my three hosts, and then attempted to start a VM on the host. It refused to start with the error message: "Unable to add bridge ovirtmgmt port vnet0: Operation not supported". From what I can tell, the xml being generated is still for the old legacy network. I completely reinstalled the node, using the latest 4.2.3 node ISO image, and it still doesn't work. In the cluster, the switch type is "OVS (Experimental)" (and this option can't be changed, apparently), the compatibility version is 4.2, the firewall type is firewalld and there's no "Default Network Provider". I suspect that my upgrades have somehow left my system in half OVS/half legacy mode, but I'm not sure how to move it all the way to OVS mode and I don't want to mess with the other two hosts until I'm sure I've got it figured out. Issue with console since recently

Hi, We performed no updates on our infrastructure and since today, on some guests (not all), we see the following error in the libvirtd logs 140085012483328:error:140760FC:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_CLIENT_HELLO:unknown protocol:s23_srvr.c:640: (process:375537): Spice-WARNING **: reds-stream.c:469:reds_stream_ssl_accept: SSL_accept failed, error=1 Other guests works fine. We are trying from Mac with remote-viewer and we use OS Version: RHEL - 7 - 4.1708.el7.centos OS Description: CentOS Linux 7 (Core) Kernel Version: 3.10.0 - 693.el7.x86_64 KVM Version: 2.10.0 - 21.el7_5.3.1 LIBVIRT Version: libvirt-3.9.0-14.el7_5.5 VDSM Version: vdsm-4.19.45-1.el7.centos SPICE Version: 0.14.0 - 2.el7_5.3 CEPH Version: librbd1-0.94.5-2.el7 And latest virt-viewer. oVirt web console for VM

Hi Team, I am able to 1) Create a VM 2) Create and Attach DISK and NIC 3) I powered on the VM but I am yet to provide the network configuration for it. So there is no IP assigned, It is in Green color with UP arrow. Now I need to connect to this virtual machine and login using Guest console, I saw a documentation : https://www.ovirt.org/documentation/how-to/guest-console/connect-to-guest-d… But it is not clear. *Use Case needed : * 1) oVirt is running in centOS say running in 172.1.1.1 2) I have a Ubuntu machine say 192.2.2.2, I used the Firefox browser to login to oVirt engine (172.1.1.1) 3) Since my VM is powered ON, I need to use the console to login from my browser. Error starting VM after update Ovirt node

Hi, i upgraded oVirt node to 4.2.3.1 version. After upgrade I can not migrate VM or run VM on the node. After viewing logs file i find several errors. Can't login into ovirt api

Hi, I'm trying to login into the ovirt api under ovirt 4.2 but the admin account user for the administration portal doesn't work. Maybe It created another api account at installation but i don't recall it. I'm unable to find any documentation regarding user management and api access. The equivalence of the DiskAttachment ID and its relevant Disk ID should be intuitively documented.

Hi all, In these days, I was struggling to find the relationship among vm/disk/disk-attachment. I just found that the IDs of DiskAttachment and relevant Disk are the same, in the mapping phrase by [1]. This is a extremely helpful for connecting the disk and the disk-attachment, especially when updating a disk by its relevant disk-attachment instance. Nevertheless it's missing in the API document [2]. Adding a intuitive hint would be highly appreciated. Thanks. Error attaching cd iso image from data domain

Hello, I'm with oVirt 4.2.3 (upgraded from 4.1 and compatibilities set to 4.2) I have a CentOS 7 VM. I correctly uploaded an iSO image to the disks of a data storage domain (iSCSI). Now in web admin portal I select the VM, then the 3 dots in top right, then change cd I'm proposed with the [Eject] line and into the dropdown I see the two iso images I have uploaded up to now. I select an image and then OK I get a window with title "Operation canceled" and content Error while executing action Change CD: Drive image file could not be found Do I have to edit any setting in my VM to be able to connect an ISO image this way? Or other things to check? Ovirt node 4.2.1.1 patch/upgrade?

Hi guys, how do you upgrade ovirt nodes? I can't figure out the best practice from documentation. If I try `Check for upgrades` from oVirt Hosted engine interface, nothing happens. If I run `yum update` on an ovirt node, I get offered the following: ``` Installing: ovirt-node-ng-image-update noarch 4.2.3.1-1.el7 ovirt-4.2 643 M replacing ovirt-node-ng-image-update-placeholder.noarch 4.2.1.1-1.el7.centos ``` I can access all the CentOS packages if I run `yum update --enablerepos=base,updates,extras`. Dear all, I have a pre-allocated virtual machine. When i created a snapshot for that virtual machine, i found that it became thin-provision. And the size of the snapshot is same as the virtual machine. i would like to ask why these two behavior happened. 1. preallocated to thin provision 2. the size of snapshot is same as the disk size of virtual machine. oVirt hosted-engine-setup issues with getting host facts

Hello, We've been trying to setup oVirt environment for few days but we have issue with hosted-engine-setup (ansible script). We managed to fix few small things and have them merged upstream but unfortunately right now the installation process fails on getting host facts. It looks like it cannot proceed because it fails when connecting to ovirt-engine API of the bootstrap VM. Debugging ceph access

Hi, as you might already know I try to use ceph with openstack in an oVirt test environment. I'm able to create and remove volumes. But if I try to run a VM which contains a ceph volume it is in the "Wait for launch" state for a very long time. Then it gets into "down" state again.
