Really short version ( I can't find the link to the ovirt doc at the moment) Put hosted engine in to global maintenance and power off the vm (hosted-engine command). Hi after successfully deployed fresh 4.2_rc with ovirt node, I'm facing with a blocking problem. hosted-engine won't boot. Reaching the console via vnc hook, I can see that it is at initial boot screen, but for any OS release available, I receive: [image: Immagine incorporata 1] then [image: Immagine incorporata 2] googling around, I'm not able to find suggestions. Best Practice Question: How many engines, one or more than one, for multiple physical locations

Hello all, I read with Gluster using hyper-convergence that the engine must reside on the same LAN as the nodes. I guess this makes sense by definition - ie: using Gluster storage and replicating Gluster bricks across the web sounds awful. This got me wondering about best practices for the engine setup. We have multiple physical locations (co-location data centers). In my initial plan I had expected to have my oVirt engine hosted separately from each physical location so that in the event of trouble at a remote facility the engine would still be usable. In this case, our prod sites would not have a "hyper-converged" setup if we decide to run GlusterFS for storage at any particular physical site, but I believe it would still be possible to use Gluster. In this case oVirt would have a 3 node cluster, using GlusterFS storage, but not hyper-converged since the engine would be in a separate facility. Is there any downside in this setup to having the engine off-site? Rather than having an off-site engine, should I consider one engine per physical co-location space? I am using oVirt and RHV, both instalations on version 4.1.7. Hosts have dedicated nics for rhevm network - 1gbps, data storage itself is on FC. GlusterFS cluster lives separate on 4 dedicated hosts. It has slow disks but I can achieve about 200-400mbit throughput in other applications (we are using it for "cold" data, backups mostly). I am using this glusterfs cluster as backend for export storage. When I am exporting vm I can see only about 60-80mbit throughput. What could be the bottleneck here? Hi, I have strange error of oVrt node install "ovirt-node-ng-installer-ovirt-4.1-2017120607” on HP ProLiant ML350 G6 with hardware RAID5 3.6TB just after startup and language selection: anaconda 21.48.22.121-1 traceback … …./parted/disk.py, line 246 in add partition …. partition exception: unable to satisfy all constraints on the partition I started this server with OpenSuSE Leap 42.3 DVD, RAID 5 volume is being seen correctly by partitioner as unformatted. Installing CentOS 7 results in same error when automatic partitioning selected. May be for whatever reason installer can’t load “hpsa” module ? How to solve this problem ? Thanks in advance Andrei

Hi all, I'm about to lose one very important vm. I shut down this vm for maintenance and then I moved the four disks to a new created lun. This vm has 2 snapshots. how to setup image-io-proxy after initially disabling it

Hello, I'm on oVirt 4.1.7, the latest in 4.1 right now. Initially in engine-setup when prompted I set Image I/O Proxy to false. Configure Image I/O Proxy : False Now instead I would like to enable it, but if I run engine-setup I can't find a way to do it. I can only confirm the settings in a whole or exit the setup... How can I do? Logical network setup with neutron

Hi Team, I am looking at integrating openstack neutron with oVirt. Reading the docs so far, and through my setup experiments, I can see that oVirt and neutron do seem to understand each other. But I need some helpful pointers to help me understand a few items during configuration. 1) During External Provider registration, a) although openstack keystone is currently supporting v3 api endpoints, only configuring v2 works. I see an exception otherwise.I have a feeling only v2 auth is supported with oVirt. b) Interface mappings. This I believe is a way for logical networks to switch/route traffic back to physical networks. This is of the form label:interface. Where label is placed on each Hosts network setting to point to the right physical interface. I did map label "red" when I setup Host networks to a physical Nic. And used "red:br-red, green:br-green" here, wherein my intention is to create a bridge br-red on each Host for this logical network and switch/route packets over the "red" label mapped physical nic on each host. And every vm attached to "red" logical network shall have a vnic placed on "br-red" Is my understanding correct? 2) Now I finally create a logical network using external provider "openstack neutron". Herein "Physical Network" parameter that I totally do not understand. If the registration were to have many interface mappings, is this a way of pinning to the right interface? I cannot choose, red, red:br-red... I can only leave it empty, So what is the IP address of the physical address argument part of logical network creation? "Optionally select the Create on external provider check box. Select the External Provider from the drop-down list and provide the IP address of the Physical Network". What this field means? Failed deply of ovirt-engine using ovirt-node-ng-installer-ovirt-4.2-pre-2017120512.iso

I'm having trouble to deploy one three host hyperconverged lab using iso-image named above. My test environment is based on HPE BL680cG7 blade servers. These servers has 6 physical 10GB network interfaces (flexNIC), each one with four profiles (ethernet,FCoE,iSCSI,etc). I choose one of these six phys interfaces (enp5s0f0) and assigned it a static IPv4 address, for each node. After node reboot, interface ONBOOT param is still set to no. Changed via iLO interface to yes and restarted network. Fine. After gluster setup, with gdeploy script under Cockpit interface, avoiding errors coming from : /usr/share/gdepply/scripts/blacklist_all_disks.sh, start hosted-engine deploy. With the new version, I'm having an error never seen before: The Engine VM (10.114.60.117) and this host (10.114.60.134/24) will not be in the same IP subnet. Static routing configuration are not supported on automatic VM configuration. Failed to execute stage 'Environment customization': The Engine VM (10.114.60.117) and this host (10.114.60.134/24) will not be in the same IP subnet. Static routing configuration are not supported on automatic VM configuration. Hosted Engine deployment failed. There's no input field for HE subnet mask. Anyway in our class-c ovirt management network these ARE in the same subnet. How to recover from this ? I cannot add /24 CIDR in HE Static IP address field, it isn't allowed. Moreover, VM FQDN is asked two times during the deploy process. It's correct ? Some additional, general questions: NetworkManager: must be disabled deploying HCI solution ? In my attempt, wasn't disabled. There's some document to follow to perform a correct deploy ? Dear Team, I am using Ovirt 3.x on centos 3 node cluster and in that Ubuntu 14.04 64bit vm's are installed. But the end users, who are using this vm' s are facing some issue daily and issues are mentioned below, 1. Keyboard will not respond in middle automatically and after checking log file in vm, it show pmouse sync issue. 2. If Vm is restarted it is giving black screen, then Vm need to power off and start again. Please provide solution for above issues. oVirt self-Hosted engine- Hosted Engine failover issue

Hello all, i created two hosts in Default cluster. The Hosted Engine was installed in host1. Then i tried to live migrate hosted engine from host1 to host2 and it was OKAY. However, the hosted engine suddenly shut down for a while. Then, when the hosted engine worked again, i found that the hosted engine was located in host1. The problem is that since there is no vms inside these two hosts except hosted engine vm why the hosted engine will suddenly shutdown and auto migrate to host1? Since i am newer for ovirt self hosted engine if you guys want to read some log, would you give me the log path? I very appreciated with your help. Regards, Terry

I was able to re-export it and import it successfully, but the GUI has been showing this VM hanging there for over 3 weeks. I can't find an active task on the SPM using vdsClient, either. Success Cases with Hyperconvergence

Hello, I’m looking for success cases of oVirt (and the downstream part: RHV) specifically on hyperconverged scenarios. I’m trying to convince a customer to ditch its expensive Nutanix quotation in favor of a RHV with Gluster architecture. Looking on redhat page about RHV there’s a lot of cases of RHV on a standard software defined DC but nothing really expressive on hyperconvergence. I’m aware that the product is a bit new and the reference architecture is still on 1.0; but someone have any success case to be a show off? Thanks, V. Sent from my iPhone

Centos Repos vs. oVirt Repos

Hi all, Sorry, I'm implementing oVirt and learning all 'by doing'. I have a Foreman/Katello Instance running and providing the standard repositories from CentOS: OS(Base), Updates, Extras. All Hosts subscribes this Repos and I can update all. Since I installed oVirt on Hosts using the oVirt-Repos(ovirt-4.1-dependencies.repo and ovirt-4.1.repo) I have this conflicts with qemu-tools-*. I already read the files from repos and I saw that the Base Repo from CentOS has qemu-tools packages and the repos from oVirt too and have than conflicts with booth(Check Upgrade doesn't works, (Re)install for Hosts doesn't works too). When I disable the Base Repo from CentOS on Foreman/Katello everything works. Since I'm using all standard repos from CentOS and oVirt, I would like to know how do you do with this conflicts? Should I disable the Base Repos on all oVirt Hosts, should I merge them? Add them to Foreman/Katello? I already sent an E-Mail to List asking about repos conflicts and I would like to know if there is a 'best-practice' for oVirt-Hosts. Thanks in Advance!
