adding a nic with its network with ansible module

Hello, I'm used to easily add multiple network to vm with the following ovirt-shell command: add nic --parent-vm-name acier --network-name brv106 --name admin I try to do the same with ovirt_nics module (with ansible-console or with regular yml file) ovirt_nics vm=acier name=admin network=brv106 profile=brv106 state=present interface is successfully created but network is empty, as if network field were skipped. 4.1 appliance yum install fails

Note: screenshot attached. I installed an oVirt node 4.1, then attempted to install oVirt engine on that using ovirt-hosted-engine-setup The installer downloads the appliance RPM, but installation fails due to missing GPG key. Installation fails whether I answer yes or no to "Use this key?" question. There is what appears to be an oVirt key in /etc/pki/rpm-gpg. Have I missed something? Thanks, Mike

unable to install ovirt-node-ng 3.6

Hello, I am trying to upgrade a cluster from 3.5 -> 3.6 -> 4.0. The engine is currently on the 3.6 release but I seem unable to upgrade the ovirt-nodes (thin hypervisors) to 3.6. When trying a fresh install (clean bare metal server) using the ovirt-node-ng-installer-ovirt-3.6-201606052403.iso the install fails at the end with the following error: > > error: sum of all thin volume sizes (495.16 GB) exceeds the side of thin > pool onn/pool00 and the size of the whole volume group (465.24GB) This is when having the installer choose the partition schema. However when I try to install using a manual partition schema based on the schema recommendation it still fails. The 4.x installer works fine, but I don't think I can use this since I will have to upgrade to the cluster to 3.6 with el7 hosts firsts? Any workarounds that I can try to get 3.6 installed? Thanks

I ran yum update on my three host and the engine VM so I believe an up to date on all the packages. How can I check if I am on version 4.1.2? I restarted the httpd and ovirt-engine service after the updates, but still don't the seal option. Permissions to Import VMs

Hi, I have a group of local users with permissions to create VMs, templates, and VMs from templates. They are allowed to work only in one of the clusters in the datacenter. Now I want one of the local users to be able to import VMs and convert them into templates and I just can't find the recipe for that. The group has these permissions: LocalUsersGroup -> [PowerUserRole] -> DEV1 (Cluster) LocalUsersGroup -> [PowerUserRole] -> SAN (Storage) LocalUsersGroup -> [TemplateCreator] -> OFFICE (Datacenter) LocalUserA is part of LocalUsersGroup and should be able to: - Import a VM - Convert the VM to a template for everyone to use - Delete the VM I tried this: LocalUserA -> [VmImporterExporter] -> System LocalUserA can now import VMs and convert them to templates but it can't delete the imported VMs. For some reason [UserVmManager] role is not assigned to LocalUserA on the VMs that were imported. Before I start messing around I'd appreciate somebody's else opinion on how this should be done. Thank you for your time, -- Peter

As long as any repository is configured where 'yum check-update ovirt-node-ng-image-update' is true, upgrades from engine will work. In general, otopi's miniyum is a bit smarter than base yum, so 'check-update ...' is not always a reliable mechanism to verify this, but yes, a local repo in a non-routed network which presents the update will show an update from engine.

oVirt Power Management with Cisco UCS C220 M4S

Hi All, For anyone that might stumble on a Cisco UCS C220 M4S and wondering how to configure power management. below are the steps to configure it, as it took me some hours to figure it out... 1. enable IPMI on server. (Cisco has this documented) 2. at ovirt GUI, edit host -> power management, then select "ipmilan" and add *lanplus=1* as an option. (the bold one was the tricky part) To test from command line: ipmitool -I lanplus -H <your IP> -U admin -P somepass -v chassis power status It will give the response: "Chassis Power is on" Alex

Good afternoon ovirt users, I'm new to ovirt. I've created templates in the past using this guide, https://github.com/rharmonson/richtech/wiki/CentOS-7-1511-Minimal-oVirt-Tem… . Hello. I got the error mentioned in the subject when when trying to build ovirt-host-deploy. Rebuilt otopi, running the commands `autoreconf -ivf` and then `./configure --enable-java-sdk --with-maven`. This made `make` download a host of stuff for otopi project from https://repo.maven.apache.org It did this again when I ran `make install`. When I went back to the ovirt-host-deploy directory, I ran `./configure`, both with the --enable-java-sdk and --with-maven options. Got the same error again. 2. I tried running entering the directory src/java and running `mvn install`. I received a build success message and then proceeded to run ./configure --build=x86_64-linux-gnu --host=x86_64-linux-gnu --program-prefix= --prefix=/usr --exec-prefix=/usr --bindir=/usr/bin --sbindir=/usr/sbin --sysconfdir=/etc --datadir=/usr/share --includedir=/usr/include --libdir=/usr/lib64 --libexecdir=/usr/libexec --localstatedir=/var --sharedstatedir=/var/lib --mandir=/usr/share/man --disable-python-syntax-check --enable-java-sdk --with-local-version=otopi-1.7.0.master COMMONS_LOGGING_JAR=/usr/share/java/commons-logging.jar JUNIT_JAR=/usr/share/java/junit.jar I omitted the --disable-dependency-tracking and --docdir=/usr/share/doc/otopi-1.7.0 options because of the following error: configure: WARNING: unrecognized options: --disable-dependency-tracking and the fact that I didn't have the directory /usr/share/doc/otopi-1.7.0 respectively. Upgrade from rhel 6.7 to 6.8 breaks virt-viewer console

Hi, Having trouble launching consoles for VMs on rhel 6.8 (virt-viewer 2.0-14). I get: "At least Remote Viewer version 99.0-1 is required to setup this connection" It works fine in rhel 6.7 (using firefox or chrome). I downgraded the version of virt-viewer to the 6.7 version (2.0-7) in 6.8 but then I get a proxy error (no proxy is set in the browser). Can someone tell me whether it is possible to get virt-viewer to launch a console for a VM with oVirt 4.1 and rhel 6.8? This redhat article (https://access.redhat.com/articles/2800531) says you need to upgrade to rhel 7.0, but that is not an option. I've also read that it was possible with a workaround with 4.0 but not 4.1. Thanks for any help. Cam

Hi, Before trying out, I want to understand how glusterfs will react for below scenario. Please help me. Let consider I have two host hostA and hostB I have setup replica volume on hostA and hostB. (consider as storage domain for DATA in ovirt). I have configure data domain mount command with backup server option (backup-volfile-server) as hostB (I mean main server as hostA and backup as hostB) 1> As I understood, VDSM execute mount command on both hostA and hostB.(for creating data domain) 2> That mean, HostB glusterFS CLIENT will communicate with main server (hostA). (Please correct me if I am wrong here.) 3> Let say HostA got down (say shutdown, power off scenario) 4> Due to backup option I will have data domain available on HostB. (Now glusterFS CLIENT on HostB will start communicating with HostB GlusterFS SERVER). 5> Now let say HostA comes up. 6> Will it sync all data from HostB to HostA glusterFS server ? (as per doc, yes, i not tried yet, want to confirm my understanding) 7> Will glusterFS CLIENT on HostB start communicate with main server (HostA) ? Please let me know, I am new to glusterFS. Hi list, I think i have run into https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1435207. However last comment is from 2017-05-17. Since all vm:s on the host is getting unresponsive the only thing i can do to fix it is to restart vdsmd. That works for an hour or so but then all vm:s getting unresponsive again. Does anybody know if there is a workaround for this bug? Regards Christian

ovirtmgmt network out of sync

Hi, I upgraded to the latest version (users(a)ovirt.org) a few weeks ago and ever since then I cannot open a console unless I am on the local network ( 10.3.1.0/24). I think it is related to the Ovirtmgmt interface being "out-of-sync". If I try to fix it in the gui, I get an error: "Error while executing action HostSetupNetworks: Network is currently being used" This is because the hosted engine in on the ovirtmgmt network. Is there a way I can fix this via cli? This is a single host with a hosted engine. I use it for development only. Thank you.

Hi all, I have a simple 3 node ovirt 4.1 gluster. All works fine but when I create or move a vm to node 2 the connection is lost, if I move the vm back to node 1 all works fine again. Looking to ovirt engine, network seems identical (for now I have only ovirtmng network). If I ping something from node 2, ping works fine (internet in general). Where can I check also? thank you

Smtp configuration for notification

Hi, When we install the vm engine, in the configuration process we are asked to give an smtp server and email addresses for notification but then nothing. When we looked to the event notification configuration we found this file ovirt-engine-notifier.conf and we thought that the first configuration was there but since the notification service was disabled notifications were not working, but No, there was no configuration on that file we had to modify it and now notifications are working. The question is : is the first smtp configuration used ? If yes, when? Can we test it ? And if we want to modify it, where the configuration is stored ? Regards
