JUST CANT UNDERSTAND WHY OVIRT DOESNT HAVE A WEB-GUI FOR EDITING ,REMOVING UNWANTED STORAGE DOMAINS I configured openfiler as my iscsi storage and while i am able to connect to it ....i wanted to change the IP address of the connecting IP to one of the logical networks which i disignated as a STORAGE role. This is a nightmare changing this and i have to set hosts in maintenence mode and delete the datacenter , is there any other way ?

Memory ballooning not working on RHEV 4.1?

Hello all, I have a RHEV 4.1 host running Windows 10 VMs. I have installed the balloon driver on the VMs (RHEV guest tools), and enabled memory ballooning on the cluster using RHEV-M. On the VMs, I have set the system memory to Memory Size: 4GB, Maximum Memory: 16GB. While I can manually hot plug memory, I am not seeing additional memory being automatically allocated to the VMs during a SQL workload. The documentation for RHEV 4.1 is not clear on whether or not this automatic ballooning is functional (earlier documentation suggests that it is functional only by use of an API). I am new to RHEV and would appreciate some help troubleshooting this. Please let me know if there's any additional information I should provide. Hi guys I'm trying to run virsh list (or any other virsh commands) virsh list Please enter your authentication name: admin Please enter your password: error: failed to connect to the hypervisor error: authentication failed: authentication failed But I have no clue about login:password ovirt uses. I tried admin password, also tried to create new account with saslpasswd2 Which didn't work to. Any solutions?

After adding ISCSI storage on ovirt 4.0 (both engine and node) , storage doesnt come up

For some reason when i add iscsi storage on my ovirtNode it works like a charm , but when i reboot the ovirtengine and node , the storage doesnt come up and on the storage tab , i have noticed that the USE HOST dropdown is empty NB:iscsi and iscsid are running on the node and the LUN is active

cleanup old recovery backup

Good morning, Just a question. When I do an upgrade of a hosted-engine by the "hosted-engine --upgarde-appliance" command the procedure will automatically make a backup for recovery. Hosted engine setup shooting dirty pool

Or at least, refusing to mount a dirty pool. I have 4.1 set up, configured and functional, currently wired up with two VM hosts and three Gluster hosts. It is configured with a (temporary) NFS data storage domain, with the end-goal being two data domains on Gluster; one for the hosted engine, one for other VMs. The issue is that `hosted-engine` sees any gluster volumes offered as dirty. (I have been creating them via the command line right before attempting the hosted-engine migration; there is nothing in them at that stage.) I *think* what is happening is that ovirt-engine notices a newly created volume and has its way with the volume (visible in the GUI; the volume appears in the list), and the hosted-engine installer becomes upset about that. What I don’t know is what to do about it. Relevant log lines below. The installer almost sounds like it is asking me to remove the UUID-directory and whatnot, but I’m pretty sure that’s just going to leave me with two problems instead of fixing the first one. I’ve considered attempting to wire this together in the DB, which also seems like a great way to break things. I’ve even thought of using a Gluster installation that Ovirt knows nothing about, mainly as an experiment to see if it would even work, but decided it doesn’t matter, because I can’t deploy in that state anyway and it doesn’t actually get me any closer to getting this working. I noticed several bugs in the tracker seemingly related, but the bulk of those were for past versions and I saw nothing that seemed actionable from my end in the others. I’m having trouble deleting a test gluster volume

And bingo! I totally spaced on the fact that the MAC pool would be the same on the two clusters. I changed the pool range (Configure->MAC Address Pools for anyone interested) on the 4.1 cluster and things are looking good again. Thank you, this was driving me nuts! Hosted engine setup shooting dirty pool

Or at least, refusing to mount a dirty pool. I’m having trouble getting the hosted engine installed. I have 4.1 set up, configured and functional, currently wired up with two VM hosts and three Gluster hosts. It is configured with a (temporary) NFS data storage domain, with the end-goal being two data domains on Gluster; one for the hosted engine, one for other VMs. The issue is that `hosted-engine` sees any gluster volumes offered as dirty. (I have been creating them via the command line right before attempting the hosted-engine migration; there is nothing in them at that stage.) I *think* what is happening is that ovirt-engine notices a newly created volume and has its way with the volume (visible in the GUI; the volume appears in the list), and the hosted-engine installer becomes upset about that. What I don’t know is what to do about that. Relevant log lines below. The installer almost sounds like it is asking me to remove the UUID-directory and whatnot, but I’m pretty sure that’s just going to leave me with two problems instead of fixing the first one. I’ve considered attempting to wire this together in the DB, which also seems like a great way to break things. I’ve even thought of using a Gluster cluster that Ovirt knows nothing about, mainly as an experiment to see if it would even work, but decided it doesn’t especially matter, as architecturally that would not work for production in our environment and I just need to get this up. Resize iSCSI lun f storage domain

Hello, my iSCSI storage domain in 4.1.1 is composed by 1 lun of size 1TB and there are two hosts accessing it. I have to extend this LUN to 4Tb. What is supposed to be done after having completed the resize operation at storage array level? I read here the workflow: http://www.ovirt.org/develop/release-management/features/storage/lun-resize/ Does this imply that I have to do nothing at host side? Normally inside a physical server connecting to iSCSI volumes I run the command "iscsiadm .... --rescan" and this one below is all my workflow (on CentOS 5.9, quite similar in CentOS 6.x, except the multipath refresh). Is it oVirt itself that takes in charge the iscsiadm --rescan command? Hey guys, Yesterday I've upgraded my Ovirt Node 4.1.0 to 4.1.1.1 version. Everything looks fine except Network configuration part is missing. If I enter manually in url (/network) like in the older version - I get Not Found error. I've roll backed to previous version - network configuration part is OK, reverted back to new one - no networking configuration. How should I configure networks? In terminal, the old way ? Hi, I'm evaluating some thin client to connect to ovirt VMs, used as desktop workstations. I really don't care about native client support, I distribute via PXE a custom linux OS launching remote viewer. I'd like to have good multimedia performance, at a reasonable price. Googling a little, I focused on a couple of vendor: https://www.igel.com and https://www.10zig.com/. Anyone has already tested those vendor products? which model? which is the (approx.) price? Obviously any hint on other vendors are welcome. The scenario is composed of about 1500 VMs, running on ovirt (RHV to say the truth), distributed over 3 datacenters, currently accessed using old (5-7 years) PC, that I'm planning to renew. Python-SDK4: How to list user permissions?

Hi, I'm trying to get a user's list of permissions, i.e., list all permissions a user have on VMs and VmPools. In SDK4 I cannot reproduce the same logic. u.permissions returns an empty list ([]). More 4.1 Networking Questions

Hi Everyone, Okay, I'm again having problems with getting basic networking setup with oVirt 4.1 Here is my situation. I have two servers I want to use to create an oVirt cluster, with two different networks. My "public" network is a 1G link on device em1 connected to my Internet feed, and my "storage" network is a 10G link connected on device p5p1 to my file server. Since I need to connect to my storage network in order to do the install, I selected p5p1 has the ovirtmgmt interface when installing the hosted engine. That worked fine, I got everything installed, so I used some ssh-proxy magic to connect to the web console and completed the install (setup a Storage domain and create a new network vmNet for VM networking and added em1 to it.) The problem was that when I added a second network device to the HostedEngine VM (so that I can connect to it from my public network) it would intermittently go down. I did some digging and found some IPV6 errors in the dmesg (IPv6: eth1: IPv6 duplicate address 2001:410:e000:902:21a:4aff:fe16:151 detected!) so I disabled IPv6 on both eth0 and eth1 in the HostedEngine and rebooted it. The problem is that when I restarted the VM, the eth1 device was missing. So, my question is: Can I add a second NIC to the HostedEngine VM and make it stick, or will it be deleted whenever the engine VM is restarted? Is there a better way to do what I'm trying to do, ie, should I setup ovirtmgmt on the public em1 interface, and then create the "storage" network after the fact for connecting to the datastores and such. Is that even possible, or required? I was thinking that it would be better for migrations and other management functions to happen on the faster 10G network, but if the HostedEngine doesn't need to be able to connect to the storage network maybe it's not worth the effort? Eventually I want to setup LACP on the storage network, but I had to wipe the servers and reinstall from scratch the last time I tried to set that up. I was thinking that it was because I setup the bonding before installing oVirt, so I didn't do that this time. Upgrade hypervisor to 4.1.1.1

Yesterday I executed an upgrade on my hypervisor to version 4.1.1.1 After the upgrade, it is impossible to start a virtual machine on it. The messages I found: Failed to connect socket to '/var/run/libvirt/virtlogd-sock': Connection refused [root@vm-1 log]# hosted-engine --vm-status | grep -i engine Engine status : {"reason": "bad vm status", "health": "bad", "vm": "down", "detail": "down"} state=EngineUnexpectedlyDown The redhead version: CentOS Linux release 7.3.1611 (Core) Is this a known problem? Installation of ovirtNode3.6 on VMware workstation is failing

Good day I am using ovirtEngine 4.0 and ovirtnode 4.0 .... on the same engine i also need to test ovirtNode 3.6 since its supported. Initially i struggled with installing ovirt engine 4.0 until i selected LVM thin provisioning the same trick is not working with ovirtNode3.6 ....any type of partition ,standard partition ,LVM ,LVM thin provisioning is not working is there anyone who experienced the same issue

Error in starting vdsm in host

Hello, I am trying to install and configure vdsm in a newly created centos 7.3.The packages that I have installed is vdsm, vdsm-cli and libvirtd. [Ovirt 4.0 Python SDK] Host fail to move in Maintenance State

Hi, I was trying to deactivate host via python SDK but found that host is not moving in Maintenance State. In this scenario, I found that I have one additional network added in cluster but not setup on Host. Hence it retrying in background for network sync. Because of this I suspect host is fail to move in maintenance state. Can someone help me how to force via python API to deactivate host ? Or Can I stop background sync of host ? Thanks, ~Rohit
