ovirt 3.6 hostedengine.metadata, missing OVF_STORE

I have been upgrading our ovirt hosts to el7 to be able to run version 3.6. When deploying a new host have problems with the shared OVF storage config part. 1. I get an error during deploy: [ INFO ] Stage: Setup validation [ ERROR ] Failed to execute stage 'Setup validation': failed to read metadata: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/rhev/data-center/mnt/[NFS3_SHARE]/88b69eba-ef4f-4dbe-ba53-20dadd424d0e/ha_agent/hosted-engine.metadata' [ INFO ] Stage: Clean up It seems the symlink of hosted-engine.metadata is missing. So I added manually the /var/run/vdsm/storage folder with subfolder 88b69eba-ef4f-4dbe-ba53-20dadd424d0e and symlinks. Then I reran the hosted-engine deploy and this time all went well. 2. Now when the host is installed I notice the following in the logs .... I removed complete ovirt36 release and installed ovirt35 for the hosted engine deploy. This time all went without any problem directly. >From there I retried upgrade and same problems again. I run ovirt hosted-engine on nfs3. I did found https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1159314 I added no_subtree_check and tried deploy again, but again without luck. I believe the hosted engine configs are not being migrated to the shared storage. And my problem has todo with http://www.ovirt.org/Features/Hosted_Engine_configuration_on_shared_storage And found /etc/ovirt-hosted-engine/hosted-engine.conf, conf_volume_UUID, conf_image_UUID Hosts run el7 Hosted engine runs el6 Hosted engine storage is through NFS3 Can I import the hosted engine storage in to engine ( in web interface )? Or how can I create or trigger manually the OVF store the logs complain about? Hi, I have a problem wiht admin portal under Hosts > Networks Interfaces. When I click on "Setup Host Networks" The portal give mi this error: Uncaught exception occurred. vm refuses to migrate because of NUMA

Getting qcow images into oVirt

Hi there, We would like to consume pre-created QCOW images in oVirt/RHEV. So far it seems that the only way to do that would be to store the images in a Glance server which will require us to maintain such server. Trying to put the image in an ISO domain made in show up as a useless "unkonwn" file type in engine. 3.5 or 3.6 For Production System?

Hi Folks, I'm setting up a small virtualization system that will start with one or two hosts and then probably grow to 4-5 hosts. We will eventually be using a shared iSCSI datastore, but right now I'll probably just use NFS4. I'm wondering if I should stick with my plan of using oVirt 3.6.2, or should I start of with 3.5 and upgrade at a later date. Is 3.6 generally stable enough for production use? We're not doing anything very complicated, just running a few Linux webserver VMs. No high availability or auto-deployment type stuff.

Hi, so it seems, that for some strange reason, user 'engine' cannot create schema in 'engine' database although it should be an owner of this db. I double checked that on all our testing databases this works fine and also if you created engine db according to doc (either automatically by engine-setup or manually in case of remote db) this should work. So you can try to execute following command which adds proper permissions to 'engine' db user (please adapt according to you setup): su - postgres -c "psql --command=\"GRANT ALL ON DATABASE @ENGINE_DB_DATABASE@ TO @ENGINE_DB_USER@;\"" The correct output should be: GRANT If it's successful, please execute engine-setup again to verify that above step fixed the issue. packet loss ingress to engine VM

I cannot figure this out for the life of me but its been an issue. it eventually resolves itself once everything has "settled" after I bring the hosted-engine VM up but it takes anywhere between 15 minutes and 1 hour to completely settle http://imgur.com/a/o4S5m The picture is the best way I can describe it. From the node the engine is running on I ping the engine VM and packet loss is great. Clone / New VM from Template changing network interfaces

oVirt Engine Version: 3.5.0.1-1.el6 When cloning or creating a new vm, the network interfaces in /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules is getting changed - rendering the new new VM un-networkable. The original file looks like this: [image: Inline image 1] However, once the VM is either cloned or a new VM created from a template of this source VM, the file looks like this: [image: Inline image 2] The 'correct' interfaces are still there, but out of sequence and there are two additional interfaces that do not belong there. Problem about connecting iscsi server

I'm trying to setup oVirtManager on Centos 7. Here is the configurations: oVirtEngine Machine: Centos 7 minimal + GNOME multipath, firewall, iptables services are stopped and disabled. Host Machine: Centos 7 minmal VDSM is installed and working iscsi is installed and working multipath, firewall, iptables services are stopped and disabled. Situtation: oVirtEngine installed. DataCenter is set. Cluster is set. Host is set and active. I can see iqn of iscsi from oVirtEngine Machine via terminal. Like this: # iscsiadm -m discovery -t st -p 192.168.1.44:3260 192.168.1.44:3260,1 iqn.2016-01.vdsm.localhost:SCSI1 But I cannot connect same machine form oVirtManager. I get this error: No new devices were found. This may be due to either: incorrect multipath configuration on the Host or wrong address of the iscsi target or a failure to authenticate on the target device. Hi List, I update my OVirt 3.6.1 installation to 3.6.2 this morning. After the reboot of the server the interface numbering wasn't the same so I had to change some cable to have them connected to the right configuration. Everything looks OK but I receive a null pointer exception while clicking on "Setup Host Networks" of my engine/host server. Any help is more then welcome!! All snapshots read only

Hi all I've just noticed that all VM snapshots on one of our prod RHEV setups have gone read-only (i.e. delete is greyed out). Has anyone else seen this? Is there an easy fix for this? We have a bunch of VVMs being snapshotted nightly with snapshots being deleted after 7 days. Thanks CC

I know, from reading the release notes of 7.2, that there were some changes to the bonding bits in the kernel so i'm guessing maybe some defaults have changed. API: detailed quota information, where's it at?

I've been able to run the simple commands to enumerate quotas in a datacenter, and to select a quota by name. What I can not figure out how to do is how to receive detailed information about a quota from the API. Here's how I queried the basic information (using the python ovirtsdk module): import ovirtsdk.api > api = ovirtsdk.api.API(url=url, username=name, password=password, ...) > datacenter = api.datacenters.get(name="my-data-center") > team_quota = datacenter.quotas.get(name="my-teams-quota") Which works well enough, but doesn't really provide any actual *valuable* information (just the name, id, description, that kind of stuff). So where is the useful stuff hidden? The stuff of real value? I have not found any useful resources while scouring the Internet for this answer. I want to be able to hit this API and ask for detailed information about the usage of a quota: How much capacity is my team allotted on a given storage domain? How much capacity are we presently consuming? Likewise with CPU/Memory allocation type quotas. Is this possible, or a pipe dream? Though our new oVirt setup is better in most ways, cross-CPU-type migration is one of the features I miss from Proxmox. KVM supports mixed-CPU migration for a while now, even between AMD and Intel. http://www.linux-kvm.org/page/Migration I'm using a bunch of re-purposed servers with a mix of AMD and Intel. As the instructions say, I was able to build the project with Maven (however, the org.ovirt.vdsm-jsonrpc-java dependency version had to be changed to 1.1.5 instead of 1.1.2-SNAPSHOT in pom.xml as this latter is no longer provided at the repository). I could indeed verify it's listening on the VDSM port: [root@host ovirt-vdsmfake]# netstat -atpn | grep 54321 tcp6 0 0 :::54321 :::* LISTEN 44870/java So the next step is to add a fake host via REST. I used scripts provided here <http://www.ovirt.org/REST_API_Using_BASH_Automation> and I successfully added the host, however, it starts installing all the VDSM packages as it were a normal host and therefore it tries to start vdsmd as well, which throws an error as the Jetty Server is already listening on the 54321 port. I shut down the Jetty Server and allowed oVirt Manager to install all the packages properly, then stopped vdsmd and started the Jetty Server, but expectedly oVirt Engine fails with message "Host xxx is non responsive", so what I actually got is a real VDSM host and not a fake one. FWIW, the fake VDSM runs on a different host, ports are reacheable from the oVirt engine, proper /etc/hosts has been added to the engine to reach the host, and no further customization of web.xml has been done. I feel like I'm missing something here. Could someone shed some light on what's wrong? Thanks.
