Hello, I'm having troubles removing a virtual machine from my ovirt enviroment. If I want to remove it from within my browser (engine) it gives me an error. I have added some screenshots form the engine and my engine.log. Thank you for your help.

Hello, I followed instructions at http://www.ovirt.org/Features/Cloud-Init_Integration It works fine for Fedora, but it not works properly for Centos 6.5 and 7 (for example network settings changed, hostname only in one of them, system start waiting for password in 6.5 etc.) - which are most common distros for us. It seems to be problematically (by design ?) at future. So - is another alternative of cloud-init (maybe with more coding and configuring) for automatically assign IP settings, hostname and root password? Thanks, Jiri

I have downloaded and installed per the instructions - and then downloaded = the console.vv file and run the command line to start the viewer with the c= onsole.vv - the first time it popped up and then said that spice needed aut= hentication=85 tried my virt-engine password that didn=92t work, hit cancel= and it shut down. Tried it again and now it just says it can=92t determin= e the connection type from uri and I have to quit. Latest seabios in F19

Just a FYI I just upgraded my setup @home to 3.4.4 and part of the upgrade is a seabios-bin upgrade to seabios-bin-1.7.3.1-1.fc19.noarch which seems to contain a problem since I can't start any Windows7 VMs anymore. Downgrading to seabios-bin-1.7.2.2-3.fc19.noarch solves the Win7 boot problem Regards, Joop

qemu-kvm-rhev on EL machines for oVirt 3.4.z ?

Hi guys, We've recently started shipping qemu-kvm-rhev in oVirt 3.5's repos and requiring it by VDSM in order to allow oVirt users on EL server to enjoy the live snapshot capability which isn't available by the default qemu-kvm available for these machines [1]. On a different BZ, Sven raised the request to backport this to the 3.4.z stream as well [2]. In the discussion on the patch [3], Dan raised the concern that 3.4.z is a mature z-stream, and adding this dependency on resources.ovirt.org's repos will effectively blocks all vdsm updates for users which don't have these repos enabled in their production environments. We'd like to get some more input from the community before deciding whether to move forward with this or abandon the idea. Discovering oVirt/RHEV Engine from a VM guest

Hello everyone, I wonder if you can tell me how I can do this. I'm creating a VM image that needs to discover it's hostname, IP address information so I can configure /etc/sysconfig/network, /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-[interface] and other things. If I know the oVirt/RHEV engine to connect to, I can get this information successfully. However, when creating a dummy 'gold' VM image and having oVirt clone it. I have no 'key' to tell me what engine to connect to, other than trying them all and hoping for best. I've written some code with the oVirt SDK that needs to know the URL: from ovirtsdk.api import API import platform import yaml import sys api = API(url="https://HOW_TO_DISCOVER_THIS/api", username="USER@internal", password="PASSWORD", insecure=True) ... Is there a way to know the engine to connect to when VM has booted up? I tried poking around ovirt/rhev-agent and noticed this: in /usr/share/rhev-agent/vdsAgentLogic.py: self.vio.write('host-name', { 'name' : self.dr.getMachineName() }) It *looks* like I could get the host name from what oVirt has configured w/o knowing the engine to connect to? But I cannot open /dev/virtio- ports/com.redhat.rhevm.vdsm (since rhev-agentd) has it opened 'too many files open' error. When using OpenNebula in past, they mounted a ISO CD image that contained the VM's metadata you could read in as configuration and having also used AWS EC2 You can connect to localhost to the VM itself to get metadata to get this sort of information. two node replicated gluster

Hello List, i have a Two Node replicated Gluster. I am running about 15 vm on each host so that in case one node fails the other one can take over. My question is how the GlusterFS self-healing-daemon works. I disconnected the two nodes on purpose and reconnected them again. So that the self-heal-daemon jumps it. It looks like it would transfer all the file. Does the self-heal-deamon of glusterfs not just copy the missing increments? Thanks, Mario

Template Independent vs Dependent

Hello, if I create VM from template through web manager, it shows in General - Template "Clone/Independent". When created through REST API, it shows "Thin/Dependent". When it is Thin/Dependent, it is not possible to remove used template but VM creation is much faster. I would like to have more info about this but cannot find any. So I cannot find how to create Independent with REST API. Thanks, Jiri

Dear Experts. We are Integrating our internal cloud portal with Ovirt / RHEVM version 3.4. We are integrating our internal cloud with Ovirt / RHEVM. VM template created using cloud init. Through REST API Nippet while codes passes command to template ( with cloud init) IP, HOSTNAME, We are able to set IP and Hostname to VM through code. But post this Manager getting handed. Error code is attached. Need your help please.
