Hi. I resolved problem with connection to ovirt via Microsoft AD users, but it's stiil a problem with sign " /" before username. [ovirt 3.4.3] No KDC can be obtained for domain... after using engine-manage-domains edit

Hi. I have a problem with losting connetction to Windows Active Directory. Normaly I connect ovirt with AD like this: "engine-manage-domains add --domain=szypa.net --provider=ad --user=ovirt --add-permissions" After period time, example when i restart ovirt, connection is lost becouse i cannot add new user created in AD, so i thinking that i refresh conf. connection to ad: "engine-manage-domains edit --domain=szypa.net --provider=ad --user=ovirt --add-permissions" and i get this error: No KDC can be obtained for domain szypa.net have any idea? I read that this problem is resolved in previous ovirt version -- G.Sz.

[ANN] oVirt 3.5.0 Third Release Candidate is now available for testing

The oVirt team is pleased to announce that the 3.5.0 Third Release Candidate is now available for testing as of Sep 24th 2014. The release candidate is available now for Fedora 19, Fedora 20 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.5 (or similar) and allow you to use Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 as node and run Hosted Engine. This release of oVirt includes numerous bug fixes. See the release notes [1] for a list of the new features and bugs fixed. The existing repository ovirt-3.5-pre has been updated for delivering this release without the need of enabling any other repository. If you're already using oVirt 3.5 repository, please update ovirt-release35 rpm. Please refer to release notes [1] for Installation / Upgrade instructions. New oVirt Live, oVirt Guest Tools and oVirt Node ISO will be available soon as well[2]. Please note that mirrors may need usually one day before being synchronized. If you want to be sure to use latest rpms and don't want to wait for the mirrors, you can edit /etc/yum.repos.d/ovirt-3.5.repo commenting the mirror line and removing the comment on baseurl line. After setting it all up, loading the drivers etc it looks fine, but it seem= s like it has no network connectivity. This is odd as it is obtaining a DH= CP address and it looks like it can browse for other windows systems on the= network. But I can't ping it, it can't ping out and I can't remote deskto= p into it. Normally this sounds like a firewall problem, but I disabled th= at immediately. It is using the virtio driver. It is connected to the def= ault network ovirtmgmt which has a dhcp server on it. Ovirt-engine says th= e interface is up and connected and windows thinks it is connected to an un= known network with out internet access. I can't ping the default gateway f= rom the VM console. Seems silly, but I've kind of run out of things to try= on this now. I am using VLAN tagging on the ovirt-engine network side of = things and it is plugged into a trunked port... but I wouldn't think that = has anything to do with the VM itself as I am not doing anything with VLAN= s on the VM itself, it is just connected to it. All the host network/inter= faces are pingable in the cluster as well. Thanks if anyone has any ideas what I might be looking for. it.  Normally this sounds like a firewall problem, but = I disabled that immediately.  It is using the virtio driver.  It = is connected to the default network ovirtmgmt which has a dhcp server on it.  Ovirt-engine says the interface is up and connected and windo= ws thinks it is connected to an unknown network with out internet access.&n= bsp; I can’t ping the default gateway from the VM console.  Seem= s silly, but I’ve kind of run out of things to try on this now.  I am using VLAN tagging on the ovirt-engine network side o= f things and it is plugged into a trunked port…  but I wouldn&#8= 217;t think that has anything to do  with the VM itself as I am not do= ing anything with VLANs on the VM itself, it is just connected to it.  All the host network/interfaces are pingable Hi, this might be documented somewhere but I cannot find it. In what way does ovirt rely on vdsm:kvm being 36:36? Or can I just change the uid:gid everywhere and be golden? I need to change the uid:gid of vdsm:kvm to a value >1024. It has something to do with the setup of the diskstore I am supposed to use for this setup. The diskstore is a Synology which has all kinds of strange implications on the setup. Cheers, Stefan

How to disconnect hosted-engine NFS storage pool?

Hello everyone, I forgot to post my test day result and was told to do it now (I basically re-discovered two issues that are already known). So here it is: Testing DWH and Reports on separate machine HW 3 VMs - Engine, DWH&Reports (5 GB RAM), Host with local storage Test subject Deploy and run DWH and Reports on other machine (from engine machine) Progress - Deployed with help of annotated setup [1] Result - PROBLEM: Reports link on engine (machine A) links to services/reports-redirect, this opens flow.html on machine A (I'd suppose rediring to B)! - opening flow.html on B gives 404 anyway - manual navigation to https://dwh/ovirt-engine-reports/login.html finally opens dwh reports portal - seems that bz has already been created https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1142256 - Certificate machinery is ok, despite the fact copying/pasting from/to stdout/stdin seems a little bit bizzare to me. Opened https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1144309 - Clicked through reports portal and it seems it works nice - I was able to see information about my deployment (Clusters, Hosts, VMs). But I still can't ping outside of the host or ping the VM = from elsewhere... and the VM continues to get an IP address from the DHCP s= erver without issue. ovirt engine not responding

Since upgrading our ovirt setup from 3.2 to 3.3 we have run into some issues with the ovirt-engine becoming non responsive. The first few times we just cycled the server and moved on with things, but the problem kept re-occurring. After digging into the server.log we identified a number of errors, some samples below 2014-09-18 03:20:06,115 ERROR [org.jboss.as.server.deployment.scanner] (DeploymentScanner-threads - 2) JBAS015004: Caught exception writing deployment marker file /var/tmp/ovirt-engine/deployments/engine.ear.pending: java.io.FileNotFoundException: /var/tmp/ovirt-engine/deployments/engine.ear.pending (No such file or directory) 2014-09-18 03:20:06,121 ERROR [org.jboss.as.server.deployment.scanner] (DeploymentScanner-threads - 2) JBAS015004: Caught exception writing deployment marker file /var/tmp/ovirt-engine/deployments/engine.ear.isundeploying: java.io.FileNotFoundException: /var/tmp/ovirt-engine/deployments/engine.ear.isundeploying (No such file or directory) I didn't see any similar messages posted to the forum. After doing some digging we found that the OS delivered /etc/cron.daily/tmpwatch was the culprit. It has an line that cleans up /var/tmp. flags=-umc /usr/sbin/tmpwatch "$flags" 30d /var/tmp The tmpwatch combined with the noatime that we have set in fstab causes these files to be deleted. Our immediate solution will be to remove the noatime from fstab. Should these files be moved to a different directory, or can the engine recreate them if they get removed from the tmp directory?

So I have a number of nodes already running and in production. My engine is sitting on a test box, and needs to be moved onto the already existing nodes. I've read all the docs, but none of them seem to address the the use of an already existing node. if I run hosted-engine --deploy on an already existing node, is it going to mess things up, or is it really just adding some additional config files, and creating a new VM? Also does it take any additional work to get the engine enabled on all of the other nodes for the HA version? thanks, -jj-

Hello, at http://www.ovirt.org/Features/GlusterFS_Storage_Domain I can read oVirt allows glusterfs domains which maps to <disk type=network..>...</disk> in libvirt xml without USE overhead. My oVirt still creates and uses mount for disks at qemu as -drive file=/rhev/data-center/mnt/glusterSD.... Is possible to use GlusterFS storage domain without FUSE? Fedora 19, oVirt 3.4 (Centos 7 the same) Thanks! Jiri
