Unable to install oVirt and Gluster Hyperconverged

Hi I'm settings up a new lab at work. I'm following the guides here https://www.ovirt.org/dropped/gluster-hyperconverged/chap-Deploying_Hyperco… But when I want to deploy it just stops before it even starts. Ovirt 4.5.0.1 self-hosted deployment fails - jboss errors

Issue upgrading 4.4 to 4.5 Gluster HCG

Hey All, I am having an issue upgrading from 4.4 to 4.5. My setup 3 Node Gluster (Cluster 1) + 3 Node Cluster (Cluster 2) If i recall the process correctly, the process I did last week: On all my Nodes: dnf install -y centos-release-ovirt45 --enablerepo=extras On Ovirt Engine: dnf install -y centos-release-ovirt45 dnf update -y --nobest engine-setup Once the engine was upgraded successfully I ran the upgrade from the GUI on the Cluster 2 Nodes one by one although when they came back, they complained of "Host failed to attach one of the Storage Domains attached to it." which is the "hosted_storage", "data" (gluster). I thought maybe its due to the fact that 4.5 brings an update to the glusterfs version, so I decided to upgrade Node 3 in my Gluster Cluster and it booted to emergency mode after the install "succeeded". I feel like I did something wrong, aside from my bravery of upgrading so much before realizing somethings not right. Hello, I am stuck in this situation... It looks like engine certificate (engine.cer) expired few days ago [root@ovirt ~]# openssl x509 -in /etc/pki/ovirt-engine/certs/engine.cer -noout -dates notBefore=Mar 23 21:34:19 2021 GMT notAfter=Apr 26 21:34:19 2022 GMT CA and other certs are still valid Yesterday I had one host outage and HE restarted on other host. Hello, today i updated from 4.4 to 4.5 and i am no longer able to access my oVirt Cluster. Accessing oVirt Web Interface fails with "500 - Internal Server Error". The API is also dead, My Backup Software and Foreman is no longer able to talk to oVirt. I rebooted the host an ran engine-setup again, it completed without issues but Engine ist still dead. understanding if real engine offline deployment is possible

Hi Everyone, In my compagny, we try to deploy engine on 2 RHEL8 hosts we already installed. We don't have direct internet access, so the RHEL8 hosts have been setup using some internal EL repo (using redhat satellite) We have also duplicated internaly the necessary ovirt repositories, so all ovirt packages can be installed. Now the blocking part is the deployment of the engine. Is it really possible to deploy an engine without having internet connection? We tried several time but never succeeded. I tried with ansible extra var "he_offline_deployment=true", naively thinking it will download necessary packages for the engine through the repositories already configured on the physical hosts (like the physical host act as proxy) I also tried by specifying the ova file with he_appliance_ova=/usr/share/ovirt-engine-appliance/ovirt-engine-appliance-4.4-20211020135049.1.el8.ova both options have also been tried together (--ansible-extra-vars=he_appliance_ova=/usr/share/ovirt-engine-appliance/ovirt-engine-appliance-4.4-20211020135049.1.el8.ova --ansible-extra-vars=he_offline_deployment=true) But at the end, it seems the engine deployment process makes the engine to need to reach the ovirt internet repositories, as it always failed with: 2022-04-24 17:39:53,268+0100 ERROR otopi.ovirt_hosted_engine_setup.ansible_utils ansible_utils._process_output:110 fatal: [localhost -> 192.168.1.154]: FAILED! => {"changed": false, "msg": "Failed to download metadata for repo 'ovirt-4.4-centos-ceph-pacific': Cannot download repomd.xml: Cannot download repodata/repomd.xml: All mirrors were tried", "rc": 1, "results": []} FYI the pacific repo works fine when we download packages on physical hosts. Cannot start ovirt-engine java server - 500 Internal Server Error - after update to 4.4.10

Hi there, I updated hosted ovirt engine from within VM. At first I updated OS - yum update. Then rebooted VM. After VM booted again, I found out I cannot access GUI. Then I found out I had to run engine-setup even when updating between releases. So then I put cluster in global maintenance mode. And run engine-setup. The setup finished successfully. But the GUI is still not accessible. I got 500 Internal server error. Even after reboot or if I run engine-setup again. The errors are the same. In the engine.log is no error. There are errors in server.log. I updated from ovirt-engine-4.4.9.5-1.el8.noarch to ovirt-engine-4.4.10.7-1.el8.noarch. I tried to find some solution, but no luck. The part of error about failing to start engine.ear is common. But the java Caused by: error looks like different then I was able to find. Anyone who is able to find out where the problem lies and any tips for possible solution? Thanks. Hi All, I thought I'd post this since there's a few extra steps specific to oVirt Node. Note: This will install in BIOS / MBR / CSM mode, not EFI, so you won't get Secure Boot. Assuming that you already have a DHCP, TFTP, HTTP servers configured to PXE boot. Extract the oVirt Node 4.5 ISO to a folder in your TFTP and HTTP server's working folders - images/pxeboot/vmlinuz, images/pxeboot/initrd.img need to be accessible via TFTP, and the whole ISO (more or less) needs to be accessible via HTTP. I've setup the HTTP and TFTP servers to point at /srv/data/tftp/root, and then extracted the ISO to os/onn45. Copy / edit the interactive-defaults.ks to update the liveimg line to point to the squashfs.img via http: liveimg --url=http://192.168.0.2/os/onn45/ovirt-node-ng-image.squashfs.img You can add things in here to set defaults, if you want: # Keyboard layouts keyboard --xlayouts='au' # System language lang en_AU.UTF-8 # Set starting timezone and NTP server timezone Australia/Perth --isUtc --ntpservers=192.168.0.1 Once that is saved, edit your pxelinux.cfg/default: LABEL onn45 MENU LABEL ^oVirt Node 4.5 KERNEL os/onn45/images/pxeboot/vmlinuz APPEND initrd=os/onn45/images/pxeboot/initrd.img inst.stage2=http://192.168.0.2/os/onn45/ inst.ks=http://192.168.0.2/os/onn45/interactive-defaults-haven.ks Make sure you set the IP addresses and paths are updated to match your setup. Hi, I have to scan our 18 nodes with a virus scanner and I have to provide the report to our ito. This nodes have no internet connection and they will not get it. Which software I should use? Clamav? I can shutdown each single node and can scan but I would prefer to have it as cmd running and generate monthly or weekly reports. I don't want to have the daemon running. How did you do this? Q: Cluster compatibility Level and Old v4.2 Nodes

Hi, I have quite old nodes from early 4.x era (with CentOS 7.6, cluster compatibility 4.2 level), and oVirt Engine 4.4. 2 nodes have ovirt-release42. Upgrade to oVirt Engine 4.5 engine required cluster compatibility >= 4.3 level. Nodes have been installed with stock CentOS 7.6, not oVirt node image, their upgrade is quite problematic right now. I believe the VM is running on the oVirt node at this point and there is a Linux bridge between the oVirt node and engine VM. The oVirt node itself has two vNICs, one as the oVirt management network and a second unconfigured NIC to be used for Gluster storage. I access oVirt nodes and Cockpit via a "client" linux VM also on the oVirt management network. It feels like it's this Linux bridge and networking which is not working correctly and causing the deployment to fail. This could be due to the fact that I'm using a virtualised NIC and while promiscuous mode and perhaps some other features are sort-of supported, features needed for this kind of complex networking are not. This is despite the network I'm using being an internal one without the iMAC host connected. WAN connections for oVirt are via a NAT gateway/firewall VM that has the LAN side on the oVirt management network and the WAN side using a bridge with the hosts's NIC (wifi in my case). I did get similar results when I tried to set up OpenStack Neutron Networking; I could not get traffic to cross the Linux Bridge from one Compute Node VM to another. There are a small handful of results of other people coming across this same issue/error and many of them are also using nested Virtualisation either in ESXi, VirtualBox etc The Linux Bridge created by the oVirt engine deployment is (from Cockpit): virbr0Bridge 52:54:00:8F:28:3A Status 192.168.222.1/24, fe80:0:0:0:5054:ff:fe8f:283a/64, fd00:1234:5678:900:0:0:0:1/64 Carrier Yes General Connect automatically IPv4 Address 192.168.222.1/24 IPv6 Address fd00:1234:5678:900:0:0:0:1/64 Bridge Spanning tree protocol Forward delay 2 I have actually seen traffic cross this bridge while watching the stats as the engine was being deployed. If anyone has experienced this problem before and is certain it is due to having a virtualised network, then please let me know. Alternatively, if there is a workaround, that would be great, otherwise I can do more troubleshooting on request but it does feel like this is ultimately a problem related to the platform I'm using - which would not be encountered in a production environment. Q: Non-Operational Node Hosts - Ghost Network Problem

Hi, I run into nasty and unexpected problem (oVirt 4.4.7.6-1.el8 ) and 2 non-operational node hosts, which seem relate to ghost network glitch. Everything worked fine for a very long time until I did the following. 1) Made a backup of several VMs which have network “CloudLink-ISP2”. 2) Moved VM disks into another node hosts, which don’t have link “CloudLink-ISP2”, and forgot (preliminary to move) to re-configure network interface (remove link to “CloudLink-ISP2”) as I did before.. 3) Now I have 2 hosts in non-operational mode which is a really big problem - there are only 3 nodes total in a cluster. I tried to fix this by adding 3rd network “CloudLink-ISP2” to each non-operational hosts, and connected ethernet interfaces to a switch. Unfortunately, it didn’t helped either because for whatever reason link did not go up. How I can remove any reference to “CloudLink-ISP2” from node11 and node14? They don’t have any VMs needed that “CloudLink-ISP2”. I edited even inactive VMs and removed “CloudLink-ISP2”. May be there is an option to ignore missing or downed links whn activating node hosts? renewing hosts certs when they have expired

Hello, I have read some posts about renewing ovirt CA on the engine when it has expired with engine-setup --offline, but nothing about renewing hosts certificates when they have expired. In such a case, we can't interact anymore with hosts and vms are in an unknown state. The formal solution is to put the concerned host into maintenance and enroll certificate, but it implies to stop vms.
