There is a possibility to change the VM status manually in database: update vm_dynamic set status=0 where vm_guid='1d5342a3-9375-49c5-bf2a-2bd444d41d09'; @oVirt developers It seems that in some situations, VM with'unknown' status has no chances to change state. When all hosts in data center are up and the VM is not attached to any host it's a dead end. In this particular situation oVirt engine administrator can't perform any actions on "lost" VM. Illegal memory size is provided, size needs to be between 1024 MB and 64000 MB. Running a small 2008R2 VM with only 512MB RAM has never been an issue before but now it apparently is. What´s worst is that I can´t seem to change what´s defined inside the template either. If I click for edit inside webadmin and try to change memory from 512 to 1024, it still errors out the same way. I´ve tried to change it to something else entirely but it errors out with the same message regardless. [Users] Moving hosts to new Gluster cluster issues

I am in the process of upgrading my cluster while at the same time moving to gluster. My engine is version 3.3.1 and I have a NFS cluster running in 3.1 compatibility mode that I am moving to a 3.3 GlusterFS cluster. Host3 runs the engine and is on the NFS cluster while host2 is running a single brick gluster volume and a few vms on the Gluster cluster. Host1 is the machine I am trying to move from the NFS cluster to the Gluster cluster. Host1 is upgraded to the latest vdsm/gluster/etc (done via the host re-install option in the UI while in maintenance mode). I attempt to change the datacenter/cluster on the host edit page and after I press OK I get the following error in the UI: "Error while executing action ChangeVDSCluster: Network error during communication with the Host." I have checked all IPs and DNS resolutions and even went so far to disable iptables on all of the hosts to make sure I don't have any firewall issues. Host1/2 is running latest centos 6.5 and Host3 is slightly behind on centos 6.4. While attempting to make the change I have tailed the engine.log and it is in the following pastebin http://pastebin.com/1yaK4vYt. Any help would be great. [Users] Virtio NIC in Windows failing at boot

To my knowledge, none of the Linux gu= ests have ever been affected. The problem appears when a Windows guest is rebooted. Occasionally this ha= ppens during maintenance work but more often as a result of Microsoft updat= es which require a reboot. The most recent batch of these that we allowed = resulted in something like 35 of 40 Windows guests losing networking. What we see is that the VirtIO Ethernet Adapter is enabled but shows no evi= dence of actually being connected to the network. The MAC never appears in= our switches, etc. The solution is to connect to the guest via console an= d manually disable, then enable, the NIC. Problem solved. Hi Rob, Did you try to upgrade the DB? Restoring it is only the beginning. Like I said before, under the engine, under packaging/dbscripts, run upgrade.sh . I am running ovirt-engine-3.4.0-0.2.master.20131107144332.git214186b.fc18.noarch on a server and I want to move it to another physical server. I did a fresh install on the new server and it is running ovirt-engine-3.4.0-0.2.master.20131119150718.git949cac2.fc18.noarch. I want to migrate the database from the old server to the new server. How can I upgrade the old server so that the package versions match the new server? Hi, i upgraded my Ovirt 3.2 a few days ago, with 3.2 memory usage was within a level i rated as normal (~3gb mem used, for controlling 6 nodes with about 30 vm on them). after 3.3.1 upgrade, the engine goes crazy and uses about 3x of memory after some hours. right after starting ovirt-engine, everything is fine, after about 20hrs the host starts swapping etc heres the process in "crazy state" ovirt 8749 107 59.2 10592340 4776040 ? Hi, When trying to add an NFS Export domain via oVirt-engine, it fails on "Problem while trying to mount target". when checking the vdsm.log, it seems that the problem is mount time-out. when I tried to manually run the mount command, in the exact same manner as vdsm, it indeed failed on Connection timed out after ~3 minutes or so: [root@localhost vdsm]# /usr/bin/mount -t nfs -o soft,nosharecache,timeo=600,retrans=6,nfsvers=3 1.2.3.4:/home/ecohen/public/export/engine/storage/195/iscsi-dc/export /rhev/data-center/mnt/11.2.3.4:_home_ecohen_public_export_engine_storage_195_iscsi-dc_export mount.nfs: Connection timed out but - when trying to run the mount command again, with the exact same mount source and mount target, but without any additional parameter, it succeeded (after ~10 seconds): [root@localhost vdsm]# /usr/bin/mount 10.18.57.137:/home/ecohen/public/export/engine/storage/195/iscsi-dc/export /rhev/data-center/mnt/10.18.57.137:_home_ecohen_public_export_engine_storage_195_iscsi-dc_export So I assume that I need to either configure my NFS Export folder differently, or create the storage domain with additional parameters (using the "Advanced Parameters" section in the GUI dialog or similar). any pointers on what exactly should be checked / done? many thanks in advance. ---- Regards, Einav

Hello, I have a cluster of 2 hosts with f19 and 3.3.1 as delivered in ovirt stable repo. Running kernel is 3.11.8-200.fc19.x86_64 $ rpm -q ksm libvirt qemu-kvm vdsm package ksm is not installed libvirt-1.0.5.7-1.fc19.x86_64 qemu-kvm-1.4.2-13.fc19.x86_64 vdsm-4.13.0-11.fc19.x86_64 Engine is another server, always with f19 and ovirt stable 3.3.1. I have a GlusterFS DC with a cluster composed by these two hosts. They are HP blades BL685c G1 with 64Gb of ram each and 4xOpteron CPUs, seen by oVirt as "AMD Opteron G2" in datacenter. I have 3 VMs in this cluster: 2 x CentOS 6.4 and 1 x CentOS 5.10. After I put all in maintenance and then start up. I have both hosts up and running. I power on in sequence the 3 VMs and they start all on the same host (the one that is not the elected SPM). Should it be some sort of load balancing or is this situation correct/expected? I notice ksm is not installed: could it be this one the reason in any way? Or culd it be useful anyway to install it (I thought it was a dependency for oVirt...) $ rpm -qa|grep ksm [g.cecchi ]$ BTW: if I run a live migration of CentOS 5.10 VM to the other host it works ok without problem, so the host seems ok to me. I was able to connect the nodes ok, but when I try to add the storage, it complains that its in use, I think it= wan't to create a new volume group on the lun. Is there an way to make ovirt-engine use the already created VG instead of = creating a new one. [Users] unable to use spice-html5 in chrome due to certificate error

Hello, I think I have configured all ok. Fedora 19 with stable oVirt 3.3.1 >From another fedora 19 system I'm trying to use chrome Version 31.0.1650.63 I get a black window when using spice html5 in console options in /var/log/messages of engine I get Dec 7 18:51:16 tekkaman ovirt-websocket-proxy.py[22356]: 5: handler exception: [Errno 336265225] _ssl.c:351: error:140B0009:SSL routines:SSL_CTX_use_PrivateKey_file:PEM lib So I think the problem has to be the configuration part of Import CA of the engine in your browser can anyone gives instructions for dummies to do this, please? [Users] Host offline due to storage error

Hi there I've got a 3 node oVirt 3.3.1 setup connecting to an Equallogic iSCSI SAN array. My nodes keep going offline with these errors: Host reports about one of the Active Storage Domains as Problematic. Host cannot access one of the Storage Domains attached to the Data Center <DC> Setting Host state to Non-Operational The host is then fenced, reboots and comes back up normally. Admins may have enough headaches to get the NFS up and running after some kind of failure. So Ovirt should not be one of them.
