Hi Rob, Did you try to upgrade the DB? Restoring it is only the beginning. Like I said before, under the engine, under packaging/dbscripts, run upgrade.sh . I'm also trying to get another eye on this, will update. I am running ovirt-engine-3.4.0-0.2.master.20131107144332.git214186b.fc18.noarch on a server and I want to move it to another physical server. I did a fresh install on the new server and it is running ovirt-engine-3.4.0-0.2.master.20131119150718.git949cac2.fc18.noarch. I want to migrate the database from the old server to the new server. How can I upgrade the old server so that the package versions match the new server? Hi, i upgraded my Ovirt 3.2 a few days ago, with 3.2 memory usage was within a level i rated as normal (~3gb mem used, for controlling 6 nodes with about 30 vm on them). after 3.3.1 upgrade, the engine goes crazy and uses about 3x of memory after some hours. right after starting ovirt-engine, everything is fine, after about 20hrs the host starts swapping etc heres the process in "crazy state" ovirt 8749 107 59.2 10592340 4776040 ? Sl Dec10 2189:35 ovirt-engine -server -XX:+TieredCompilation -Xms1g -Xmx1g -XX:PermSize=256m -XX:MaxPermSize=256m -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true -Dsun.rmi.dgc.client.gcInterva here right now after a restart ovirt 28350 43.7 8.7 3895304 705964 ? [Users] add NFS storage domain fails on mount timeout via ovirt

Hi, When trying to add an NFS Export domain via oVirt-engine, it fails on "Problem while trying to mount target". when checking the vdsm.log, it seems that the problem is mount time-out. when I tried to manually run the mount command, in the exact same manner as vdsm, it indeed failed on Connection timed out after ~3 minutes or so: [root@localhost vdsm]# /usr/bin/mount -t nfs -o soft,nosharecache,timeo=600,retrans=6,nfsvers=3 1.2.3.4:/home/ecohen/public/export/engine/storage/195/iscsi-dc/export /rhev/data-center/mnt/11.2.3.4:_home_ecohen_public_export_engine_storage_195_iscsi-dc_export mount.nfs: Connection timed out but - when trying to run the mount command again, with the exact same mount source and mount target, but without any additional parameter, it succeeded (after ~10 seconds): [root@localhost vdsm]# /usr/bin/mount 10.18.57.137:/home/ecohen/public/export/engine/storage/195/iscsi-dc/export /rhev/data-center/mnt/10.18.57.137:_home_ecohen_public_export_engine_storage_195_iscsi-dc_export So I assume that I need to either configure my NFS Export folder differently, or create the storage domain with additional parameters (using the "Advanced Parameters" section in the GUI dialog or similar). any pointers on what exactly should be checked / done? many thanks in advance. ---- Regards, Einav

[Users] ovirt 3.3.1 all VMs boot on the same host?

Hello, I have a cluster of 2 hosts with f19 and 3.3.1 as delivered in ovirt stable repo. Running kernel is 3.11.8-200.fc19.x86_64 $ rpm -q ksm libvirt qemu-kvm vdsm package ksm is not installed libvirt-1.0.5.7-1.fc19.x86_64 qemu-kvm-1.4.2-13.fc19.x86_64 vdsm-4.13.0-11.fc19.x86_64 Engine is another server, always with f19 and ovirt stable 3.3.1. I have a GlusterFS DC with a cluster composed by these two hosts. They are HP blades BL685c G1 with 64Gb of ram each and 4xOpteron CPUs, seen by oVirt as "AMD Opteron G2" in datacenter. I have 3 VMs in this cluster: 2 x CentOS 6.4 and 1 x CentOS 5.10. After I put all in maintenance and then start up. I have both hosts up and running. I power on in sequence the 3 VMs and they start all on the same host (the one that is not the elected SPM). Should it be some sort of load balancing or is this situation correct/expected? I notice ksm is not installed: could it be this one the reason in any way? Or culd it be useful anyway to install it (I thought it was a dependency for oVirt...) $ rpm -qa|grep ksm [g.cecchi ]$ BTW: if I run a live migration of CentOS 5.10 VM to the other host it works ok without problem, so the host seems ok to me. Hi, we've scheduled oVirt 3.3.2 RC build on 2013-12-11 [1] A bug tracker is available at [2] and it shows only 4 bugs still blocking the release: Whiteboard Bug ID Summary integration 1036209 [AIO] ssh issues storage 1022961 Running a VM from a gluster domain uses mount instead of gluster URI virt 1029885 cloud-init testcase does not work in engine 3.3.1 virt 1025829 sysprep floppy is not attached to Windows 2008 R2 machine - even when specifically checked in Run Once Please provide an ETA for the above bugs. 1036209 [AIO] ssh issues: patch merged on master branch, ready to be merged (hopefully today) on 3.3 and 3.3.2 branches. For those who want to help testing the bugs, I suggest to add yourself as QA contact for the bug and add yourself to the testing page [3]. Hello all Can I create the storage domain on the node? Or does it have to be on the engine machine or somewhere else. I'm trying to create it on the node since I don't want all that space to go waste and since I'm only doing testing right now but I'm having NFS issues. [Users] Host offline due to storage error

Hi there I've got a 3 node oVirt 3.3.1 setup connecting to an Equallogic iSCSI SAN array. My nodes keep going offline with these errors: Host reports about one of the Active Storage Domains as Problematic. Host cannot access one of the Storage Domains attached to the Data Center <DC> Setting Host state to Non-Operational The host is then fenced, reboots and comes back up normally. Is there a guide somewhere on how to do this? for an OSS project I'm finding it remarkably opaque as to how to do this. There are some (incomplete) notes here: http://www.spice-space.org/page/Building_Instructions#Windows_2 Which fail to build (DevStudio 2008). There are some old posts os the spice-dev list which seem to hint the build is done via cross compile from fedora. I need to build the remote viewer for window to incorporate some bug fixes which have made their way into the offical build. Also I'd like to try embedding it in a customised viewer. There doesn't seem to be a single "tools" or "agent" install like there is under ESXi, that's required to be installed under ovirt, instead I've seen references to 1) virtio drivers 2) Spice drivers 3) qemu agent What's really needed under both Windows and Linux to get guests working properly? Are all these agents included in Fedora?

Hello, I remember many months ago a thread where someone complained about too verbose logging. Still today in 3.3.1 we have many many DEBUG messages in both vdsm and engine logs. Is there already a wiki explaining how to relax logging level? I think that if we think it is now able to be production ready, this implies changing default log level. Right today it is difficult to understand logs because of verbosity, in my opinion. Best if in upcoming 3.3.2 release this could take place. Anyway someone could always leverage the level as he/she needs... What do you think about it? Gianluca

Hi, we want to utilize Cloud-Init via REST-API, like mentioned on the feature page in the wiki: http://www.ovirt.org/Features/Cloud-Init_Integration but looking at api?rsdl I do not find any clue if this is implemented already in 3.3.1? if yes, how to call this function? if no, can we hack something in the db to activate it or at least use the function to automatic build the cd-roms which get passed to the vms? H, I'm experimenting with gluster and as my DC is a iscsi dc, I've just created a new cluster with two hosts and now I'm trying to create a volume. I've followed all kind of guides in the web without success. Now I'm having ovirt to complaint about a network error in the volume creation and I'd like to ask two things: - Why I must use ovirtmgmt network for gluster (can't choose other from the add brick drop down list) instead of the network I have set up for iscsi? - What may be the problem with network?
