Hello, I have f18 engine server + another f18 node with 3.2 final. Hi All, I was wondering if there is a document that describes in detail how ovirt is working with iscsi and how it creates the disks, etc. etc. on the SAN / iSCSI storage ? I checked the online documentation however cant see it going into much detail. I'd also be prepared to write something up for the documenation section, but I need to get it to work and understand first ;) FWIW, this is a part 2 of a project I'm working on, now moving away from NFS and onto iSCSI (a cheap san solution). I've fiddled with, and had some pretty decent experiences with Guacamole: http://guac-dev.org/ An HTML(5?)-based VNC client for a browser - no client-side components needed :) Could fit in nicely with the project. Greetings, I'm working on deploying oVirt for the first time and I need to know what needs to be backed up in order to be prepared for a system recovery. Is this documented? For the engine, so far I imagine I'd want to back up /etc and dump my postgres database; the restore procedure for both of those is trivial. For the nodes, other than /etc, I don't know what needs to be backed up or what the restore procedure is. (And backing up /etc just for this seems a bit ham-fisted.) What am I missing? Hi there Few weeks ago I report on the 3.2beta a problem to set a new Vlan tagged interface. I've sent logs to Antoni. Now on the stable release, fresh install, I try to add a vlan tagged interface, and I have exactly the same error. I don't understand how such a problem in a stable release is possible ? Does anyone success to had a vlan ? I can't use ovirtmgmt network to go to Internet, so that i can't use 3.2 release. I've always recommended targeting "all human beings" (including blind, color-blind, and physically handicapped people) mostly because I think those damn Martians and Jovians are a bunch of whiners. Hello, on oVirt 3.2 I successfully tested disk moving for a powered off windows 7 VM (I'm going to try powered on case later). Storage As soon as the operation starts, I can see its details on task section at bottom board. But when it completes I then am unable to see in events any information, for example to track down duration. Any info on where can I find in Webadmin GUI this kind of information? Thanks, Gianluca

Hi, I'd like first to thank people of this mailing list for there help and advices - I learned a lot by reading your archive. Here's a simple question : In the "Alerts" message queue at the bottom of the screen, I see an error message dating from two weeks (about the failure to verify to restart status of a host). I'm pretty sure this shouldn't be there anymore, as the power management of this host has already been tested and approved many times since. I haven't find any trivial way to flush this message queue, and I was wondering whether it was stored in a database? Is there a way to clear these error messages? (Am I right with the db location?) Hello, We lost our Fedora 17 server with ovirt 3.1 on it. We have a good database backup but do not have have any certificates. From what I read, it is possible to still do a restore.. we just have to rejoin all the nodes so that they get a new certificate. I've tried to bring the database in to a fresh 3.1 install and a fresh 3.2 install.. with no success on either. I need some helping figuring this out :) Thanks, David

Hi all! Today I installed the new oVirt 3.2 on CentOS 6.3 using www.dreyou.org repository and I liked so much. But, I'm having problems setting networks into physical interfaces of the hosts. On my production environment oVirt 3.1, I have several networks in my eth1 interface, but in the new one, I can't do the same. When I add a network to eth1, no other can be added to. The webadmin says me: No valid operation for network2 and eth1. How can I add several networks to the same eth? Thanks.

Hello, updated my oVirt 3.2 beta all-in-one to 3.2 final. Then # yum install ovirt-engine-reports # ovirt-engine-dwh-setup # ovirt-engine-reports-setup All seems successful. The first time that I access the reports link from firefox I get a window about security and certificate, but where I cannot accept the certificate itself ("confirm exception" button remains greyed out) and so can't go ahead. I'm forced to kill firefox from a console and restart it because if I go in details window for certificate it spans all over my vertical screen length. Also with Alt+drag I cannot highlight the "cancel" button to exit the window..... Now when I click on reports link I get as in pre-3.2 Page: Reports is not a leagal. ok. so you have 1 NFS data domain which has a template on it and when you are trying to create a new vm you only have preallocated disk type. when you open the new vm dialogue, after you select the template, in the Resource allocation tab you need to select the clone radio button (its near the Template Provisioning). once you do that, the allocation policy scroll will become active and you will be able to select thin or preallocated. let me know if after you select the clone you still only have preallocated. Hello everybody, I'm following the Quick Start Guide to clone a machine from a Template that it's already created. As thi guide says it's necessary to select in Allocation tab from Resource Allocation, Thin Provision. When I try to do this and down the select field it doesn't appear this option, I only can see Preallocated. I have oVirt engine 3.1. Can somebody give some light why I haven't this option in my webadmin? Many thanks in avanced, Juanjo.

Hello, I have an environment with one engine server and one host, both fedora 18 with nightly repo enabled and at level 3.2.0-1.20130123.git2ad65d0. I made these steps, as it is a lab: - stop all VMs - enable stable and disable nightly in ovirt repo file for both servers - yum update ovirt-engine-setup on engine - engine-upgrade on engine SO far so good all went ok. I can connect to engine and I see now in wa portal: Welcome to Open Virtualization Manager. Version 3.2.0-4.fc18 with my host and my VMs that are all there. What would be the correct approach now to update the host? - Put it in maintenance and deploy from gui? - delete and reinstall? BTW, In general is it supported to have engine at a slightly higher version than nodes, when updates arrive? Thanks in advance Gianluca

Hi, The webadmin and userportal works pretty fine for me on ie8 and ie9. Can you please be more specific about what doesn't work for you? Maybe attaching a screen shot. Maybe you've compiled the application with -Dgwt.userAgent flag for a specific browser? You should compile without any specific gwt.userAgent to support all the browsers or to add -Dgwt.userAgent=ie8,ie9 to support ie8 and ie9. Hello, Since 3.2 is GA, i installed from scratch my lab. I configured oVirt management (fedora 18) and downloaded the ovirt-node-iso-2.6.0 in order to install a node. I booted up my server from that iso, but i had no installer window. It booted, did a check and only showed up a terminal for login with username and password. Is there something that i missed?
