Hi everybody, can you help me to find where does ovirt stores configuration files in xml format of Virtual Machines?

Hello Antonio, Could you indicate to me how I can connect to this #vdsm irc channel, please?, I have seen in the ovirt page, community, IRC, but it doesn't explain anything about how to connect. I have the ircII client in my Debian box but I guess that it is necessary the host and port number. Is it possible that host was irc.freenode.net?, and what is the port number and the user to connect? Thanks, Juanjo. [Users] Problem with libvirt

Hello everybody, I have installed and configured oVirt 3.1 engine in a Fedora 17 with a Fedora 17 node connected. Ihave defined a NFS domain for my VM and another for ISOs. I try to start a Fedora 17 Server with Run once and the machi start without problems, after that I preceed with the installation in its wirtual disk but when I arrive to define partitions in the virtual disk the machine is freeze and I start to receive engine errors and the default data center go in non responsive status. Yesterday was testday but not much fun :-( I had a reasonable working setup but for testday I decided to start from scratch and that ended rather soon. Installing and configuring engine was not a problem but I want a setup where I have two gluster hosts and two hosts as vmhosts. I added a second cluster using the webinterface set it to gluster storage and added two minimal installed Fedora 18 hosts where I setup static networking and verified that it worked. In oVirt 3.1 GlusterFS support was added. It was an easy way to replicate your virtual machine storage without too much hassle. There are two main howtos: * http://www.middleswarth.net/content/installing-ovirt-31-and-glusterfs-using… (Robert Middleswarth) * http://blog.jebpages.com/archives/ovirt-3-1-glusterized/ (Jason Brooks). 1) What about performance? I've done some tests with rsync backups (even using the suggested --inplace rsync switch) that implies small files. These backups were done into local mounted glusterfs volumes. Backups instead of lasting about 2 hours they lasted like 15 hours long. Is there maybe something that only happens with small files and with big files performance is ok? 2) How to know the current status? In DRBD you know it checking a proc file if I remember it well. I remember too that GlusterFS doesn't have an equivalent thing and there's no evident way to know if all the files are synced. If you have tried it how do you know if both sets of virtual disks images are synced? 3) Mount dns resolution If you check Jason Brooks howto you will see that it uses a hostname for refering to nfs mount. If you want to perform HA you need your storage to be mounted and if the server1 host is down it doesn't help that the nfs mount point associated to the storage is server1:/vms/ and not server2:/vms/. Checking Middleswarth howto I think that he does the same thing. Let's explain a bit more so that understand. My example setup is the one where you have two host machines where you run a set of virtual machines on one and the other one doesn't have any virtual machine running. Where is the virtual machines storage located? It's located at the glusterfs volume. So the first one of the machines mounts the glusterfs volume as nfs (It's an example). If it uses its own hostname for the nfs mount then if itself goes down the second host isn't going to mount it when it's restarted in the HA mode. So the first one of the machines mounts the glusterfs volume as nfs (It's an example). If it uses the second host hostname for the nfs mount then if the second host goes down the virtual machine cannot access its virtual disks. A workaround for this situation which I have thought is to use /etc/hosts on both machines so that: whatever.domain.com resolves in both hosts to the host self's ip. I think that glusterfs has a way of mounting their share through "-t glusterfs" that somehow can ignore these hostnames problems but I haven't read it too much about it so I'm not too sure. 4) So my doubts basically are: * Has anyone setup a two host glusterfs HA oVirt cluster where storage is shared by a replicated Glusterfs volume that is shared and stored by both of them? * Does HA work when one of the host goes down? * Or does it complain about hostname as I suspect? * Any tips to ensure the best performance? Hello, I have 3.2 beta and a Fedra 18 VM configured with spice access. One user connects to portal and access it, then terminates his session and closes the spice console window and log out from portal. Another user connects to portal and tries to connect to the same VM that is still powered on. It receives this message: Error: F18: Console connection denied. Another user has already accessed the console of this VM. The VM should be rebooted to allow another user to access it, or changed by an admin to not enforce reboot between users accessing its console. I didn't find a way to accomplish the "or changed by an admin to not enforce reboot..." Where to set this? Thanks, Gianluca

Hi All, I have made a successfull install of 3.2 but there seems to be changed a lot about local storage comparing to 3.1 When I want to add storage on a local host there is a Datacenter and Cluster created for this Host, named by the name of the host. After this, the local storage is not available and I'm not able to add extra also. I have looked at "adding a new storage domains" and when I select my host I still need to set my path, but I did this already by configuring local storage before. The message I receive while configuring the local storage is: error cannot add storage. internal error storage connection doesn't exist What goes wrong here ? This was much easier on 3.1!

Hello, having a fedora 18 system configured as a node and working with a local_storage DC/CLuster, I then created an iSCSI dc and cluster and moved there the host Then I configured a CentOS server as an iSCSI sw target. But in admin portal the host section remains greyed out and I can't proceed. I suspect I have to manually install/configure some prerequisites to have the host work as iSCSI initiator.... Is it true? What I have to do on host part (or engine part) if I have not a node iso but a standard fedora 18 system as hypervisor? Hi My environnement is Fedora18 / Ovirt 3.2 and VDSM vdsm-4.10.3-6.fc18.x86_64. I use a storage on fiber channel. When creating a VM the disk is created by ovirt. When starting the VM the disk has not the permission to be accessed by vdsm. In fact the device for the disk has root:disks as owner/group. Changing that by 36.36 permit the VM to start and work fine. But snapshots do not work, and a reboot cause udev to remap the disk to another /dev/dm-* device. My fedora18 has selinux disabled. Hi, I'm running the following setup: 2 hosts, each has 2 physical NICs, the first NIC (which is bridged to ovirtmgmt) is a 100Mbps ethernet card connected to a switch (and to the internet) the 2nd NIC is a fast Infiniband card which is connected back-to-back to the other host. both links are running fine, and I managed to have the 2nd host mount the storage via the fast link. The problem is that VM migration takes place over the slow link. How do I configure the cluster so that the migration uses the fast link? I've already created a network using the web interface. the migration still uses the slow link. Thanks, Yuval
