[Users] cannot install node iso images

Hi, I just tried installing the 2.3.0 node iso images from http://ovirt.org/releases/nightly/binary/ in a VM on a Fedora 17 Host and failed. First the image takes 1-2 minutes to boot and I'm not sure why it would take so long. There is not output made so it's hard to say what's going on even when you press <esc> the skip the plymouth progress bar. Second after that I get quite a few errors about denied permissions and read-only filesystems. For example systemd tries to create /var/log/wtmp but fails with "permission denied" and it tries to remove /var/lib/rpm/__db.00* files which gets a "read-only filesystem" error. Third once it actually gets to the "Install hypervisor" TUI this interface does not respond to key presses. When I press the cursor keys I only get text like "^[[C" plastered on the screen. Actually starting the installation is impossible. What am I doing wrong? Regards, Dennis

It's been pointed out to me that there has been a lack of communication around the Test Day for the next oVirt Release. I apologize for the oversight that information hasn't been posted to these lists previously. When is the test day? Thursday 2012-06-14 Where can you find info on the test day? http://ovirt.org/wiki/Testing/OvirtTestDay3.1 How can you help? Download the bits (see separate mail for location and what's there). Install and play around in the environment. Report any issues seen to the IRC channel and/or mailing lists. Update the wiki page with results, info on your testing What to do if you're unsure of something or stuck? The main IRC channel (#ovirt on OFTC) should be staffed with people paying extra attention. If you're not getting a response, try pinging someone there by name until you get a response. If there are other questions, feel free to reply here or ask on IRC Thanks Mike

[Users] Can't add an NFS storage domain

Hi, I just did a clean install of ovirt version 3.1 on CentOS 6.2 (dreyou build @ http://www.dreyou.org/ovirt/) When I attempt to add storage (Data/NFS), the web GUI hangs and the storage is not added. [Users] ovirt 3.1 beta - cannot create new virtual server

Hi all, I created a new Fedora 17 (minimal) machine and ovirt-engine from http://www.ovirt.org/releases/beta/fedora/17/ The installation and configuration gives no problem. As a Hypervisor host I use a minimal Fedora 17 as well, vdsm installed afterwards. Hi all, Yesterday I encountered a situation that even though I performed local build on my environment and deployed , engine application over JBOSS acted as if it does not contain the changed code (upon deployment). In the past I encountered such issues with tomcat. Several mi= nutes after trying to test, I feel less excited because of many early issue= s. I hope you'll be able to help me. Here is my story. I've installed ovirt-engine on Fedora 16 VM(ESXi 4.1) and I have installed = an ovirt-node 2.3.0-1.0.fc16 from iso on a Dell Poweredge 2950 server. The ovirt-engine is running just fine. Problems come with the ovirt-node. First, during installation, language selection is broken : it does not work= . I have selected French keyboard, and layout remained QWERTY (French layou= t is AZERTY) Then, after installation, you login (with the broken layout it's boring to = enter 'admin') but as a VMWare user, you like the feeling that looks like V= MWare. Good point. Ok, now you can change the keyboard layout again..., let's do this. You do = it a first time : still not working (when you enter a hostname for example)= . Let's do it a second time : "Fuck!!!". Python has just output tons of nas= ty messages about recursion depth issues and you cannot see the menu anymor= e...So you reboot the host, take a coffee while it is testing its RAM, and = avoid going into the keyboard layout menu again because you fear for your l= oss time. You enable SSH, you register with ovirt-engine, fine, you should be able to= work now. Let's see what you can do with SSH from your workstation : "Fuck!!" (again), you now have to mirror the broken keyboard layout to type= it correctly. So nasty... Ok, you have the ncurse menu. And then, after several seconds, you loose SS= H connection. WTF ?! You cannot connect again. You have to go to the server= lab because you don't have IP KVM for remote display. Keep cool, maybe you'll be able to see what's going on from the ovirt-engin= e GUI. Nice, this guy has seen the node, so you approve it. Host is up. No,= wait for it... down after 30s. Engine cannot connect to node anymore. You still don't have remote display on your node. You loose. I will move to the node display tomorrow to see what's happening to it. I s= uppose I will need to give you tons of dump later. I know this is free software, but free software does not mean broken softwa= re. I'm a bit afraid with my first experience with this one. Do you know those issues ?! I am asking because from what I am reading F18 will use gluster 3.3 and the upgrade process between 3.2 and 3.3 require downtime. So if it is possible I would prefer to start with the glusterfs 3.3. Thanks Robert

I am slowly doing my stage two testing now. I have been finding very few issues that is pretty good since 3.1 is just going into feature freeze but I did find one that is kinda a show stopper and weird for me. I installed windows 2003 using my Dell CD on my Dell Hardware. On both ESXi and Xen Server windows authorization fine because the installer sees the Dell bias in some way but under oVirt it doesn't. From my research it looks like the feature is called SLP. Is there anyway to pass the Dell SLP info to the installer like it is done under both Xen and Vmware ESXi? I assume it would be a libVirt option of some kind I just can't find it. Thanks Robert

Hi everybody, We are trying to optimize our continuous integration system around our ovirt-management software (i.e. we call into the ovirt apis to create VMs, do funny stuff with the VMs, etc.). For our tests, we deployed a VM that boots extremely quickly (2 seconds) in hoping to speed up our tests. Unfortunately, ovirt is not updating the state of the VM to "Up" as fast as we'd like. Please find /var/log/libvirtd.log and /var/log/vdsm/vdsm.log attached in archive ovirt-logs.tar.gz Versions: vdsm-4.9.6-0.150.git63061a9.el6.x86_64 libvirt-0.9.4-23.el6_2.8.x86_64 I am hoping to be able to enable live snapshot support and then find a way for me to export the snapshots to the exportdomain for backup purposes - hopefully this is possible?
