[Users] Frozen login screen - how to debug?

Hi, I am not able to use the ovirt GUI admin login portal. The screen is completely frozen (no response at all) after I enter the admin login name and password. The only indication is a warning message "Firefox 3.6 is not currently supported". I am not sure if this makes any sense. The same thing happens on Chrome and IE too. I have no such problem using CLI though. How can I debug this problem? - David

When the name attribute is changed via the either the WebAdmin or PUP it does not update the <Name> element within the VM OVF. The database table entry: vm_static --> VM_name does however get updated. Upon trying to start the VM or restart it in the case of updating the name while it was in a running state the below will occur: =20 VM <vmname> is down. Exit message operation failed: domain '<vmname> ' already exists with uuid <UUID>. [Users] Importing from KVM

Hello all, I'm trying to import VMs from a Centos5/KVM host to ovirt using virt-v2v. I used this command: virt-v2v -ic qemu+ssh://root@virthost1.mydomain.local/system -o rhev -os virthost3.mydomain.local:/exports/exp --network ovirtmgmt test.mydomain.local It works, but the resulting OVF file cannot be read by ovirt-engine ("Failed to read VM '[Unknown name]' OVF, it may be corrupted"). I had to edit the OVF file, removing the NIC Item worked, but restoring the imported VM fails. Looking at logs, I found a PostgreSQL constraint violation on an insert (sorry it's in French) "Caused by: org.postgresql.util.PSQLException: ERREUR: la valeur d une clé dupliquée rompt la contrainte unique « pk_vm_device » Where: instruction SQL « INSERT INTO vm_device( device_id, vm_id , device , type, address , boot_order , spec_params, is_managed, is_plugged, is_readonly) VALUES( $1 , $2 , $3 , $4 , $5 , $6 , $7 , $8 , $9 , $10 ) »" Looks like there's a primary key violation (duplicate) on insert. I have two questions: - what's the minimal OVF file that can successfully import a VM? - are 'default devices' created if they are not in the OVF file? (would explain PK violations) oVirt is very impressive and stable, deploying was a breeze, but it"s difficult to understand why it is so hard to move VMs from a libvirt/KVM host (which is basically the same architecture). Any thoughts how to set vnc password permanently (without any scripts outside ovirt). ? Now I use cli command such: vdsClient -s 0 setVmTicket 75c42e2e-ac28-45ae-9c78-2e4f68ee9c07 <pass> 3600 keep But it's not so convenient. Second question is how to use "Custom properties" box - how should command/value looks like ? -- Michal

Is there a way to configure MTU on a guest by guest basis? All our bond interfaces are configured as 9000 byte MTU, but we have a few guests that don't support that and need 1500 byte setting. -Nathan

Hi. Still not actually managed to test a vm... I can start a VM (and use spice) without a virtual disk. However as soon as I add a virtual disk the VM no longer starts example error message ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VM ddf is down. Hi I'm ovirt node using the latest ovirt-node-iso-2.3.0-1.0.fc16.iso, and having a problem with live migration After fresh install of node /etc/libvirt/libvirtd.conf listen_tls = 0 listen_tcp = 1 # tcp and tls ports are defaults # tls_port = "16514" #tcp_port = "16509" [root@ovirt-h-6 ~]# netstat -ant |grep -E "16514|16509" tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:16509 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN iptables is set to accept ALL When migration is attempted - it then tries and fails to use tls 2012-03-28 18:33:15.566+0000: 1622: error : doPeer2PeerMigrate:2129 : operation failed: Failed to connect to remote libvirt URI qemu+tls://192.168.192.230/system - manually configuring a registered/running node with listen_tls = 1, migration will then succeed - editing the live-cd and setting "listen_tls=1" , a fresh install then has some problems libvirtd fails to start on install due to a certificate error (which am guessing is installed as part of the node registration process with the engine) "Cannot read CA Certifcate /etc/pki/CA/cacert.pem" This also causes the setting of hostname/network details to fail during the automated installation; so this seems the wrong way to go I'm not sure if the problem here is live migration shouldn't be using tls; or that the node registration process should set "listen_tls=1" l; but isn't Any assistance appreciated Cheers, Dave ______________________________________________________________________ This email has been scanned by the Symantec Email Security.cloud service. I guess another way of asking the question is, what's the best way for me to set this up? :) Networking: When I set up a logical network, how is that accessed from the physical network? For example, if my physical network is 192.168.1.0, and my logical network is 155.223.44.0, how will I connect to port 80 on a virtual machine with the IP 155.223.44.5 from IP 192.168.1.10. Is there port forwarding? I didn't see mention of it in the guide. I've seen a thread where OV is discussed as a feature test platform in the same vein as FC. That raises the question, for me at least, as to whether or not I should deploy OV in a production environment where it will host continuous build VMs in support of Agile Teams of developers. It looks really good but not if a new version comes out every six months or so and I have to do a reinstall. If it is a new feature platform, will easy (spelled "single-click" or something close to it) upgrading be supported? Thanx, Garth

When I go to configure a storage domain in the admin interface if I click on the Storage link (in the tree pane: System->Default->Storage) and attempt to add a new domain, the only type that is available is Data / NFS. However, if I Click on Default (in the tree pane) and then select "Default" DataCenter, and then Select the Storage tab at the top, and create a New Domain from there, I can choose ISO domain... ? In a similar vein, when I attempt to move a storage domain in/out of maint or removal, going in via the Storage link the tree pane doesn't allow you to select those options, but going through the selected Datacenter Storage tab does.. [Users] engine refuses to add cdrom device to my vms

Hello, I am currently experimenting with an all-in-one setup (engine and vdsm on same host). I have my storage configured (data/iso/export domains all attached) and my local host is Up. When I try to create a VM with a CDROM device the VM starts but has no CD device at all. Any ideas why this would be happening? [Users] Cannot delete VM

Hi, I installed ovirt on F16 following the installation doc. The installation was a breeze and was also able to add a ovirt-node via the web console. I created a VM on the host (using a local storage domain on the same host). But I cannot delete the VM now, either via the webadmin console (which says "Browser Firefox version 10 is currently not supported") or via the cli. The webadmin console says "Failed to remove VM test (User: admin@internal)."). Attaching vdsm.log snippet from ovirt-node. It says Thread-207010::ERROR::2012-03-19 11:42:02,591::dispatcher::90::Storage.Dispatcher.Protect::(run) {'status': {'message': "Volume does not exist: ('c0cbe099-aa2d-444e-a734-1de7d9171498',)", 'code': 201}} But I can see the file is present on the file system.
