After install rpm compiled from src, I can not see the favicon in the browser tab.

Hi, I am trying to use latest stable node iso (ovirt-node-iso-3.0.0-5.0.1.fc18.iso) with oVirt 3.2.1, but it fails when installing from web gui. believe, that the problem is missing /usr/share/vdsm/addNetwork on node. Is there any way to use node version 3 with oVirt? [Users] big problem with ovirt on Fedora 19

* * Hi, Many posts on the net suggest that if you want to install oVirt on a single machine and you don't have (or don't want to setup) a DNS server, you can stick your host name in /etc/hosts with the IP of the server and be done with this issue. Unfortunately, this trick won't work any more as the engine-setup script uses nslookup and nslookup ignores anything in /etc/hosts So right now I have a Fedora 19 and I cannot even install oVirt latest. [Users] SPM and VM migrations

I currently have an issue where when we migrate more than one VM from the host that is the SPM to another host it will cause connectivity to the SPM Host to fail which the ovirt engine then sees the host being down. It then reboots the SPM Host and stops all of the VM's running on there. Our setup Nodes: Fedora 18 em1: ovirtmgmt (mgmt, storage and migrations) em2: VM network trunks Engine: Fedora 17 (will be upgrading that to fedora 18 shortly) Both NICS are 1 GB. The storage is NFS which is on the same VLAN and subnet as the hosts. The ovirt-engine is on a standalone server but is NOT on the same vlan/subnet yet. Is this normal behavior for the SPM to have issue when migrating hosts to and from it? I don't have any further network interfaces to add to the hosts at this time (we are planning on adding a 2x 10GB card to each node in the future but we don't have that option at this time). Is there anyway to limit the number of active migrations and have the migrations be a lower priority traffic than others? I'm using Ovirt nightly on Fedora 18 to determine if ovirt + gluster is something that will work for my organization (or at least when RHEV is released with this functionality). [Users] ids sanlock error

I have a 2 node cluster with engine running on one of the nodes. It has 2 gluster volumes that replicate between the hosts as its shared storage. Last night one of my systems crashed. It looks like all of my data is present, however the ids file seems to be corrupt on my master domain. I tried to do a hexdump -c on the ids file, but it just gave an input/output error. Sanlock.log shows error -5. Is there a way to rebuild the ids file, or can I tell ovirt to use the other domain as the master so I can get back up and running?

Hi guys I´m having some problems, using p2v with ovirt. I´ve tryed with success exporting a physical machine, with CentOS 6 using virt-p2v. The image is on my export Storage at ovirt, but when I try to restore it using another area it failed. I google it and saw some bug reports, telling to change the network name and set an UUID, tried both and nothing. Successfully installed f19 x86_64 guest desktop via pxe. Vm configured in oVirt as other linux run yum update after install qemu-kvm process command line on host for this VM contains: -vga qxl -global qxl-vga.vram_size=671088 On F19 VM xorg qxl driver automatically installed and used and also spice-vdagent I had to manually install ovirt-guest-agent from standard fedora repo --> perhaps it would be nice to have it some sort of automatically installed in oVirt guest... how? I put guest in full screen, aka in my setup 1680x1050 Able to use gnome 3 even if quite slow. As soon as I start firefox and begin to use it I get this in Xorg.0.log ... Hello, oVirt 3.2.1 on F18 One mgmt server + one host. At some point the host had some problem and was rebooted at reboot ther was a problem because I got detected unhandled Python exception in '/usr/share/vdsm/vdsm' watching at http://www.ovirt.org/Troubleshooting I verified that for some reason vdsmd.log was root.root. I've just installed my first ovirt node using the 2.6.1 image. I have 5 network interfaces in the machine .. ovirt sees them as: em1, em2, em3, em4, and rename6! That last one seems a little odd, but that's a different issue, I guess. I can click on network interfaces, and see that one is up, and the other are down. I can create networks on the engine, and I can assign the nodes interfaces to those networks, but for the life of me, I can't figure out where I assign an IP to the nodes interfaces!! Surely, the place to do that would be under the "Host" tab, yet it doesn't seem to be there... Any help would be much appreciated. Jason.

I'm running with theEL6 release of ovirt-engine: ovirt-engine.noarch 3.2.2-1.1.el6 @ovirt-stable After creating a virtual machine, I cannot view the console if protocol is set to "SPICE". If the protocol is set to VNC, I can view the console, but it's not very convenient since I have to load a separate VNC viewer, and enter the IP and port of the engine, and a randomly generated password each time. How does one make console work via SPICE? Is this a known issue because RHEL6 wouldn't have all the updated libraries of later a later Fedora release? Jason.

After executing the command "engine-setup" in the ovirt.engine, I can get i= nto the admin portal to start the configuration of host, storage, etc. Here= was what I am doing: 1. In the Default data center, I clicked the Guide Me icon. The firs= t thing is to configure the host. After waiting for 4-5 minutes, I saw the = host ovirt.host is displayed under the Host tab with the Up status. 2. On the ovirt.engine server, I did the following before creating th= e storage: mkdir -p /mnt/data chown -R 36:36 /mnt/data Add the following line to /etc/sysconfig/nfs: NFS4_SUPPORT=3D"no" Add the following line to /etc/exports: /nmt/data *(rw,sync,no_subtree_check,all_squash,anonuid=3D36,anongid=3D= 36) systemctl restart nfs-server.service 3. Back to the Default data center, clicked the Guide Me icon to star= t the configuration of new storage. 4. [Users] which file system for shared disk?

Hi, we are developing an application where would be great if multiple host could have access to the same disk. I think that we can use features like shared disk or direct LUN to attach the same storage to multiple VM's. However to provide concurrent access to the resource, there should be a cluster file system used. The most popular open source cluster file systems are GFS2 and OCFS2. So my questions are: 1) Does anyone have share disk between VM's in oVirt? What fs did You used? 2) Is it possible to use GFS2 on VM's that are running on oVirt? Does anyone have run fencing mechanism with ovirt/libvirt? Many thanks, Piotr

[Users] [URGENT] VMs not starting

Hi, I've tried with a brand new fedora vm without OS and I have the same error. I've made the configuration change proposed by Joop not only for 3.2 version but also for 3.1 just in case something stays in the vms after creation (as they were not exported and then imported, just used the LUN). Hello for Centos 6.4 there is no package pexpect-u, I downloaded pexpect-u 2.5.1 from pypi and now ovirt-shell is working!!!! [Users] RAID1 mirror on ovirt-node + engine nfs server

Hi. I've been reading about ovirt, and ready to try my own experiments with it. I have two small questions.. When an ovirt-node is installed from the standard ISO, there's no mention in the documentation about setting up a RAID1 mirror for the root disk on the node. I'm sure that once I get around to working out kickstarting the node, I could easily install the raid1 mirror, but I'm just wondering why I don't see that in the default ISO. Maybe I'm just missing something. Is redundancy of the disk on the node not important? Sure, if the node goes down, I guess the VMs could be run on other nodes, but if we can prevent the node from going down in the first place, then why not? I also have a question about the storage backend. In particular, I have a pretty powerful server that I intend to use as the NFS server, and a few servers to use as nodes. On the other hand, I don't have a powerful machine (at the moment) to use for the ovirt-engine. Would it be poor practice to run the ovirt-engine ON the NFS server? During engine setup, I see that you can setup an NFS share for ISOs from the ovirt-engine, but I don't think there's mention of just generalized storage there. I suspect it's "poor practice", but I thought I'd ask anyway. My setup will be relatively small (say, 4 nodes), and this would let me reduce 1 general server from the infrastructure (dedicated ovirt-engine). Or do I create the networks inside ovirt gui and vlan tag them? How should I configure ovirtmgmt interface? It has to go through bond0 and with vlan 100. Just wondering if there is any possibility of adding support for Ceph's RBD, I understand there are means of simply mounting an RBD with glusterfs, but for performance and simplicity adding support for creating and adding RBD's to VM's would be nice... from my experience on ubuntu 12.04 Qemu 1.4.2 is a strong recommendation. I just don't want to switch to opennebula (although probably the easiest transition from ovirt) or proxmox, kind of getting hooked on the ovirt, but it's lack of support for ceph maybe for it's direct competition with gluster is imposing on its adoption... Just some other thoughts for the developer's who seem to be few and far between (or at least according to bugzilla), providing support for debian/arch/gentoo (although they already have a little community going), I think would get alot more involvement.. Also getting the website fixed up should be asap, I mean, it is very hard to navigate, broken links, dead pages, there are tons of pages that are outdated, some that are up to date but are very difficult to navigate too... I mean you can really just copy and paste the RHEV admin manual and call it the ovirt manual, and get alot more interest, if you try and go to the ovirt admin manual now its just a dead page.... There are from what I remember 1800+ bugs and it seems that only a few developer's are actively working on them, I think that creating some better video's, with better audio showing just how simple it is to create a storage domain, create gluster volumes, iscsi domains etc.. would greatly enhance support, because lets face it, ovirt makes managing your infrastructure easy and intuitive... the more user's the bigger the community the faster the development, please port all the documentation possible from RH to Ovirt and fix up all the broken and dead links on the website so people don't think that Ovirt is a dead project, advertise all the supporter's intel, ibm, netapp whoever... if you get support in for Ceph, you beat out Citrix Vmware, Microsoft, Oracle all in one punch, everyone is looking at Ceph, ovirt is the replacement for microsofts virtual machine manager which requires a ton of things to get functional and the fact that hyper-v is a piece of crap, citrix xenserver at this level would cost around $5K per server with xendesktop and their cloud portal or whatever it's called would be over 10-20K+, VMware would be around 40-50K depending how many server's but just the storage domain option I believe is 35K, oracle I think is a little cheaper at about 3.5K per server, but not so many features... I mean ovirt has so much to offer, just need to get the word out there! I also think getting openvswitch implemented would also be a great addition to both security and functionality. Hi everyone, Thank you all, you've been very helpfull. I have one more question; How do I get a network not to be a VM network. If I create a new one, the VM option is ticked and grayed so I can't untick it. The same thing with an already created network. Sorry for all this questions, but though I've managed to find out by myself other stuff like vsdm changing multipath.conf, I haven't found much documentation on network configuration (this kind of stuff). Hi, I am trying to switch off Hosts in DC which are idle. I wanted to know as to why start/stop of hosts options are enabled in Power Mgmt tab only when the host is in Maintenance mode and not otherwise. Also, is there any way via pythonSDK to put the host in maintenance mode ? Regards, Deepthi
