The oVirt Project is pleased to announce the availability of oVirt 4.0.5 third release candidate for testing, as of October 20th, 2016. This release is available now for: * Fedora 23 (tech preview) * Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2 or later * CentOS Linux (or similar) 7.2 or later This release supports Hypervisor Hosts running: * Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2 or later * CentOS Linux (or similar) 7.2 or later * Fedora 23 (tech preview) * oVirt Next Generation Node 4.0 This is pre-release software. Change storage domain description

Hi, How can I change an existing storage domain's description? When 'Manage Storage is clicked, only the name can be changed but both Description and Comment fields are greyed-out. This is oVirt 4.0.3 BTW. Thanks.

planned jenkins and resources downtime

Hi everyone, As part of our planned maintenance I am going to reboot the Jenkins master along with our resources file server. Affected services: jenkins.ovirt.org resources.ovirt.org This means that no new jobs will be started on the Jenkins and our repositories will be unavailable for a short period of time. Data Center jumping between online and non-responsive

Hi, I installed oVirt on another host machine and there the Data Center is jumping between 5-10 minuten from online to non-responsive. It's nearly impossible to work with the webinterface because of the non-responsive state all action I like to start are blocked. Ping returns: Redirect Host(New nexthop ..

Hi, sometimes a ping to a VM give "Redirect Host(New nexthop ...". Lowering the MTU inside the VM gives better results but the network throughput is very bad. (45kB/s during yum update) Networkconfiguration: Network name: WAN, MTU 1500 (default) Network name: LAN, MTU 1500 (default) LAN and WAN assigned to the host and ipv4 set to "none" added WAN to eth0 to the VM added LAN to eth1 to the VM PING inside the LAN network works perfect. PING to WAN gives sometimes a letency of 4000ms to 8.8.8.8 PING from WAN to the VM gives the problem described above and latency sometimes up to 200ms and normally 0.7ms When I set the MTU to 1400 inside the VM network configuration and also on the VM itself the nexthop-problem are gone. A speedtest with speedtest-cli[1] give me a speed of 0.35/3.45. The values differ extrem from the values measured from a laptop inside the WAN network with the same tool. recover dom_md

I have an ovirt 4 cluster. with two gluster storage domains. The old domain is on a 1G network and the new one is on 10G. While migrating disks I accidentally removed the dom_md directory in the new storage domain. Is there a process to recreate this directory. I have moved about 28 disk images, the domain is marked as down but the VM with disks in there are still up. I have seen examples of rebuilding the dom_md/ids file using sanlock direct init, but I do not know if it is possible to rebuild the entire directory this way, and before I commit myself so shutting down all the hosts I'd like to make sure there us a good chance of success, If this is not possible is there a way of importing the disk images , I tried copying them to the export domain but they do not show up in the imports. -Alastair

Hi All, I am trying to start load tests against my newly installed ovirt engine version 4.0.4 I can run fakevdsm as follows (minor changes to pom.xml (mainly jetty plugin version) i also changed vdsm-jsonrpc-java-client to match that of the server. <groupId>org.ovirt.vdsm-jsonrpc-java</groupId> <artifactId>vdsm-jsonrpc-java-client</artifactId> <version>1.2.5</version> i can run the app using mvn jetty:run -Dfake.host=0.0.0.0 -DjsonListenPort=54321 -DvdsmPort=54322 fakevdsm runs but keeps on looping over the following operations. I have not add vms yet. [ovirt 3.6] Logical network not working

Hello, i'm new to ovirt and i did some months ago a setup of ovirt 3.6 for playing. My setup is composed by two physical hosts with 6 nic each and another machine hosting the engine. All hosts are running RHEL 7.2 Setup went well, no problems. I've been able to convert the kvm image provided by redhat and have it running on ovirt. Then i decided to configure a new network in addition to the ovirtmgmt. I went to networks, i created the logical network called Development and set the flag "Enable VLAN Tagging" and inserted the vlan tag. Once created the logical network i went to each host and did setup network and assigned the logical network to the interface where the vlan is connected. The interface is configured with bootproto=none, so no IP has been assigned to the eno5.828 that appeared after assigning logical network. I started then a vm and connected to the vNIC "Develoment/Development" and assigned an IP. But networking is not working: no ping, no traffic visible with tcpdump. I tested the single interfaces on the hosts and where the logical network is connected with tcpdump (both eno5 and eno5.828) i see tons of broadcast traffic of that interface. With brctl-show i see that assigned to the bridge Development there are both eno5.828 and vnic0. Any way to understand what's happening and why traffic is not passing?
