[Centos7.1] [Ovirt 3.5.2] hosted engine, is there a way to resume deploy

Hi, I tried to deploy ovirt hosted engine 3.5.2 on a Centos7.1 I messed up things with datacenter naming, I used something else than Default, and the result was that, after the DB welcome message between the engine and the hypervisor, there was in error (I didn't catch it I was using screen command over ssh without log :-( ), and the last steps were not done, so I ended up an engine up but without the hypervisor being registred. Is there a way to force the registration again, or will I have to deploy from the beginning and reinstall the VM engine? thanks.

Remove default cluster

Hello, I finished upgrading a 3.5.1 DC that contained some CentOS 6.6 hosts. For that, I added a second cluster in which I progressively moved my upgraded hosts into CentOS 7. Now my old cluster is empty, and the new one contains my CentOS 7 hosts. I'd like to get rid of the old empty cluster, but when trying to delete it, oVirt explains that some template are still used in this cluster. Actually, I have only the default blank template and another custom one. Once the custom one has easily been moved, I have no way to move the blank one because every action is greyd out. I guess no one will tell me to play with psql... :) -- Nicolas ECARNOT

Multiple NICs on hosted engine?

I have installed the first node of a new oVirt 3.5 setup with a hosted engine VM. I have multiple networks: one public-accessible and one private (with storage, iDRAC/IPMI, etc.). I set the engine VM up on the public LAN, but now realize that it can't access the power control. I tried to add a second NIC to the engine VM through the web interface, but of course that doesn't work (because it isn't really managed there). How can I add a second NIC to the hosted engine VM? -- Chris Adams <cma(a)cmadams.net>

Thanks for you reply . So if I understand you correctly you want to reduce the space a thin provision disk takes up on the NFS share because you deleted files within the VM? Yes Is there any others way to reclaim disk space , coz i have bulks of vm under thin provision manual process kind of impossible . As i know Vmware have this kind of facility to reclaim from thin provision . The oVirt team is pleased to announce that the 3.5.3 Third Release Candidate is now available for testing as of June 5th 2015. The release candidate is available now for Fedora 20, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.6, CentOS 6.6 (or similar) and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.1, CentOS 7.1 (or similar). This release of oVirt includes numerous bug fixes and one CVE fix for the VENOM Vulnerability. See the release notes [1] for a list of the new features and bugs fixed. I mean vm internal disk space . All of VM under thin provision . If i delete files and free space from VM still ovirt stroage showing vm disk space is used . How to reclaim disk space from guest VM . I have ovirt 3.5.1 installed with VDSM 4.16.14 EL6 node and NFS as storage . In my infrastructure i have multiple instance of centos / windows vm under ovirt and once guest vm disk space is used ovirt is not release guest vm disk space after delete . Looking for help . Regards Suvro

win 2008 kvm import

hi all, i am going to migrate a production windows 2008 image that is currently running on kvm over to ovirt 3.5.2 this weekend. are there any tips, any do's and dont's i should be aware of before doing this? should i install the windows guest tools before moving over or once done? what about having to install the virtio drivers when doing and new windows vm in order to see the disks, how is this achieved with an already created kvm image? -- thanks and regards, grant pasley. --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. http://www.avast.com

error starting vm - configure network

I have just installed ovirt AIO. I configure local datacenter, local storage. Created a new vm. Attached a cd. But when I want to "Run once", so I can install de OS, i get these events and the vm shuts immediately down: 2015-jun-04, 13:21 Failed to run VM debTest2 (User: admin@internal). 2015-jun-04, 13:21 Failed to run VM debTest2 on Host local_host. 2015-jun-04, 13:20 VM debTest2 is down with error. Exit message: XML error: listen network 'vdsm-ovirtmgmt' had no usable address. 2015-jun-04, 13:20 VM debTest2 was started by admin@internal (Host: local_host). I suppose I have to configure network.
