[Users] New oVirt Community Dashboard

With much pleasure, I would like to introduce a new tool for the oVirt community: a community dashboard from the team at Bitergia. This dashboard, found at [1], should enable us to get better insights into the activity within our community, as well as what communication channels are performing the best and who is most active on any given day. Thanks to the work of Bitergia and Dave Neary, this dashboard is now ready for community feedback. I would invite you to take a look and make comments on how the information is presented and what data is available. Currently, the data is updated once a day. Two initial questions: would IRC data be useful? And, would an aggregate page of all of the "Top" lists be something to add, too? Two known bugs: The links to the MySQL and JSON data files are not working at the moment. We welcome your feedback! Hi, I tested the following: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/1053646 easily collapsible left-pane - was not included in test day 1 (I was supposed to test it back then) - works fine. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/1054209 - read only disks - works fine. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/1054219 - Only comment is - IMHO it should be considered having disks marked as read only (where applicable) in templates -> disks and perhaps also when showing the disks of each snapshot. other bugs opened: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1064601 Yair

Note that there are 2 memory usage reports; one for the host, and another for each VM. My response is related to the host, while the original question was for the VM. I still think the root cause is the same (ie- related to overcommitment; for example the VM may have a balloon inflated), but would like to properly check and fix if needed. [Users] taking advantage of extra disk space on nodes

I'm trying to figure out how to best take advantage of that space. I see two possibilities: storage for oVirt, or backup/archive storage. I'm currently using a single NFS server for VM/iso/export storage (oVirt 3.3.x on CentOS, if it matters) and don't need to scale to hundreds of nodes (probably 10-20, max). Is current gluster support stable enough for production? What are the pros/cons of gluster vs NFS? I like the idea of not having a single point of failure but worry about performance. The other option is to stick with my NFS server and use the extra storage for archive/backup space. Here I'm looking for reliability (i.e. losing a server won't cause data loss) over performance. Are there pros/cons to gluster vs ceph? Will either/both peacefully co-exist with an ovirt node? All suggestions welcomed. Thanks! I'm having a tough time getting a VM console working via VNC. I set a VM to use VNC, and I installed virt-viewer. 1. When I try to open a .vv file with virt-viewer, I get an error "Cannot find guest domain /var/tmp/console.vv" 2. Using a VNC client to connect to the host with the password in the .vv file just immediately disconnects it -- no error message. 3. noVNC just gives me an empty popup with a gray background. Hello List, i would like to use a dedicated Bonding Interface for Gluster Replication and Migration. I was already able to add my Bonding Interfaces in my Hosts-Network Tab, however i am failing to tell Gluster to use this interface. It only offers me nodeX.local (which is my managment network). Hi, I have tested iproute2: Test: ========== - Deployed Host (EL family) - put in maintenance - on host changed vdsm.conf to: [addresses] management_port = 54321 [vars] ssl = true net_configurator = iproute2 net_persistence = unified - put host up - Added the network (net25) -> Networks -> New -> Name: net25 [X] Enable VLAN tagging: 25 - On host added dummy interface: # ip link add name dummy_interface type dummy - Put host in maintenance/up to reload the new nic - Hosts tab -> Network interfaces -> setup hosts networks Added the network net25 to dummy interface [OK] - Added more networks (-> Networks -> New) and more dummy interface at host - Put host in maintenance/up to reload the new nic - Added bond via Hosts tab -> Network interfaces [X] Save network configuration so far ok, moved the host to maintenance and rebooted.
