[Users] VMs and volumes disappearing

Hi, I have recently set up an oVirt environment, I think in a pretty standard fashion, with engine 3.3 on one host, one oVirt host on a physical machine, both running CentOS 6.4, using NFS for all storage domains. Today I was playing around with snapshots, when I noticed that the Snapshots panel didn't show any of the snapshots I created, not even the 'Current - Active VM' snapshot that all VMs have. Not sure what to do, I decided to restart the ovirt-engine process. When I logged back on to the administrator panel, I was shocked to see 2 of my 4 VMs completely missing from the inventory. I haven't been able to find back a single trace of either machine, neither in the portal nor on disk. It seems like they never existed. The storage of both VMs seems to be erased from the data domain. A 3rd VM is down and refuses to start: "Exit message: Volume 337a410f-1598-4a7f-9afd-c0160c329563 is corrupted or missing." and in vdsm.log on the host: OSError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/rhev/data-center/5849b030-626e-47cb-ad90-3ce782d831b3/d523a48d-7a34-4bb0-9d48-2092934af816/images/e803ad34-94e5-4180-b26f-7271bfca5923/337a410f-1598-4a7f-9afd-c0160c329563' So it seems something is seriously f*cked up. Now what? Any ideas what may have caused this? And more importantly, how do I prevent something like this from happening again? Perhaps a needless addition, but I am very scared to host anything remotely important on oVirt now. Regards, Martijn.

[Users] Unable to Resize VM Disk in oVirt 3.3 (Upgraded from 3.2)

Hello, I upgraded our installation of oVirt from 3.2 to 3.3, and one of the features I was looking forward to was the ability to resize VM disk. However, it appears that the feature is still not available to me. I selected the "Virtual Machines" tab, selected a VM, selected the "Disks" sub-tab, and selected a disk; but the "Edit" button is grayed out. The disk status is "OK" and the VM status is "Up". Help is appreciated.

hi I've been googling for a couple of days now trying to find the ovirt-guest-agent for windows. I have found a few references to rhevm having the tools iso but nothing on ovirt. Is there a guest tools iso for ovirt as well? Cheers Liviu

Hi All, I am facing the following problem: After upgrading to 3.3 the REST API doesn't show the VM's anymore from (one) DC. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1011489 I made a bugreport for this but no status so far. Has anyone seen the same ? Cheers, Matt

you don't have to reconfigure engine to create iscsi pool. you can create multiple pools, the only limitation is that you will need a host for the each of the DCs. but you can move one host from one DC to another... so if you have 2 hosts just create a new DC and move one of the hosts there. I think that the direct lun is only for iscsi and fiber but I can give you a 100% certainty answer on Monday. I don't think its supported for NFS... I can check for you on Monday for sure. [Users] 500 Internal Server Error when provisioning via Foreman (using nightly build)

All, I'm using oVirt 3.4.0-0.2.master.20130925104201.git8ab6304.el6 on CentOS 6.4 as a compute resource for Foreman (1.2.2, also running on CentOS 6.4). When I attempt to provision a machine, I get a 500 server error. Logs are posted below: https://gist.github.com/andrew-timmes/d41f465d2c25af5905c8 It looks similar to the issue that Andrew Lau reported in August ( http://lists.ovirt.org/pipermail/users/2013-August/015693.html) but I'm still seeing the issue in the nightly build. [Users] oVirt 3.3 and Neutron

Dear oVirt users. I'm trying to setup oVirt 3.3 using an OpenStack Neutron existing service as network provider. It works pretty well: I can use the networks defined in Neutron, import them and when I launch VM instances from oVirt they get an internal-IP address from Neutron. A can also associate a floating IP to the Neutron port and get inbound connectivity for the virtual machine. The problem is that if I shutdown the VM (both from inside the VM itself and from the oVirt WEB GUI) the association port/internal-IP/floating-IP is lost and when the VM is booted again It will get a different internal-IP on a different port and I have to manually re-associate the floating-IP. Is there a way to keep the IP addresses when the VM is simply shutted down and not deleted? This is the behavior when using OpenStack: if I poweroff the VM, the IPs are kept for the future. Moreover: can you confirm that in oVirt 3.3 there is still no support for the Neutron security rules? Thank you very much Best Regards Riccardo

[Users] Bottleneck writing to a VM w/ mounted GlusterFS

Hello, I'm testing oVirt 3.3 with GlusterFS libgfapi back-end. I'm using a node for engine and one for VDSM. From the VMs I'm mounting a second GlusterFS volume on a third storage server. I'm experiencing very bad transfer rates (38MB/s) writing from a client to a VM on the mounted GlusterFS. On the other hand, from the VM itself I can move a big file from the root vda (libgfapi) to the mounted GlusterFS at 70MB/s. I can't really figure out where the bottleneck could be.
