{REQUEST} oVirt (including RHHI) as HCI in the future

To whom it may concern I have been using oVirt in an HCI environment for over 5 years. The reason why I chose oVirt (most attractive point of oVirt for me) was that it is easy to build an HCI environment with GUI deployment. Now, I found out that the deployment by GUI has been deprecated (from ovirt4.5) on your forum site, and that all the contents related to HCI were deleted (dropped) in your official installation guide site. https://lists.ovirt.org/archives/list/users@ovirt.org/message/CBDUBBKLTCW4M… https://www.ovirt.org/documentation/installing_ovirt_as_a_self-hosted_engin… It seems that oVirt will not be able to build HCI environment in the future. So I'm very worried about whether I can continue to use oVirt as before. I would appreciate it if you could tell me about your prospects regarding oVirt as HCI. For your reference below. On 4.5.3 oVirt host, Gluster deployment was done with GUI, but hosted-engine had to be deployed with CLI. On 4.5.4 oVirt host, Guster deployment failed with GUI, so subsequent hosted-engine deployment could not proceed. ('str object' has no attribute 'vgname') Best regards, Kanehisa Tarui Tokyo, Japan

OS moves after reboot to different device

Hi All, I just built a 3 node cluster (4.5.2) with 3 Virtual Disks on identical Dell Servers. First Virtual Disk /dev/sda - BOSS Card - 450GB Second Virtual Disk /dev/sdb - SSD 14TB Third Virtual Disk /dev/sdc - HDD 72TB All OS disks were /dev/sda before reboot Following reboot only first Node is still /dev/sda - other 2 nodes are now /dev/sdc This obviously makes it impossible to create VG groups and create Gluster storage volumes. Can anyone shed any light on why this is happening and how to prevent it. Kind regards Simon

OVirt VM's not getting DHCP address

Hi Folks, None of my VM's are ablt to get an IP from my DHCP server, the management network interface and an additional interface are both set to DHCP and are able to get addresses, but I am not able to see any VM's obtain an address, is there anything by way of trouble shooting someone can point me to please? TIA Mike

oVirt developers community, I see there are a few enhancements submitted in GitHub: engine: Add amt_ws fence agent support <https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-engine/pull/810> Notification emails merging and localization <https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-engine/pull/798> And also some rebase proposal: Rebase on WildFly 26 <https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-engine/issues/637> Which would probably make more sense to be targeted to an oVirt 4.6 than a 4.5.z. There are now about three hundreds Untargeted issues(no milestone set) <https://github.com/issues?q=is%3Aopen+is%3Aissue+user%3Aovirt+archived%3Afa…> to be triaged and about sixty Untargeted PRs (no milestone set) <https://github.com/pulls?q=is%3Aopen+is%3Apr+user%3Aovirt+archived%3Afalse+…> to be reviewed. Some of them might be ready for a 4.5.z bugfix release while others can wait for a 4.6. Anyone willing to step in to lead the oVirt 4.6 development? Ovirt Hosted Engine - Offline Deployment

Hi Team, I need some help deploying Ovirt Hosted Engine. I have installed Ovirt Node 4.5.4 on my intel NUC as a small development environment for a bigger project. I am not able to connect the NUC to the internet but am able to download any relevant packages onto a hard drive and connect this to the system. I have attempted to deploy Hosted Engine via the CLI with the following command: "hosted-engine --deploy --4 --ansible-extra-vars=he_offline_deployment=true". This Fails as it is unable to resolve the URL for the mirror? I feel as though I must be missing some pre-deployment step which changes the repo path but my knowledge in this area is definitely not where it needs to be. I've trolled through the internet but cant find any sort of documentation which details the involved steps. Does anyone have any knowledge on how do accomplish this with my previously mentioned restrictions?

Timeout during the creation of vm

Hello sometimes the creation of the vm require more time and the script go in timeout: An exception occurred during task execution. To see the full traceback, use -vvv. The error was: Exception: Timeout exceed while waiting on result state of the entity. fatal: [co001olv]: FAILED! => {"changed": false, "msg": "Timeout exceed while waiting on result state of the entity."} there is i way for increse the timeout? regards

We are receiving this message into engine web page, surprising us due to certificate renewal done three months ago, during upgrade from 4.5.2 to 4.5.3. Infact, all certificates are valid, with only two exceptions: In /etc/pki/ovirt-engine/certs, apache.cer and websocket-proxy.cer were reporting expired certificates. We've done the defined action to renew certificates, with engine-setup --oflline and everything goes smoothly, but instead of two 5-years valid SSL certificates, we've got 2 1-year valid (more or less): #openssl x509 -noout -startdate -enddate -in websocket-proxy.cer notBefore=Feb 4 20:59:14 2023 GMT notAfter=Mar 9 20:59:14 2024 GMT #openssl x509 -noout -startdate -enddate -in apache.cer notBefore=Feb 4 20:59:14 2023 GMT notAfter=Mar 9 20:59:14 2024 GMT It's the correct behaviour ? I'm already aware about web SSL certificate duration "restriction" to 1-year, but all other certs have a 5-year validity.
