[Users] ovirt-shell: Disabling autopage

Hi, Currently the ovirt-shell displays command results using a pager. It does this even when running non-interactively (ie. input via pipe) which is broken. As a workaround, I discovered the option 'cli:autopage = False' should be placed in my .ovirtshellrc file. This works great the first time, but then it seems ovirt-shell is overwriting this file and dumping my new setting. Ever since this change: http://gerrit.ovirt.org/#/c/11078/ The webadmin and userportal UI no longer displays nor works correctly within Internet Explorer 8 or 9. Under IE 8 or 9 the UI is pretty much an usable garbled mess. Everything looks and works fine under Chrome and Firefox. Unfortunately Internet Exploder is a necessary evil for windows users to be able to get at SPICE consoles. (No spice plugin/support for Firefox/Chrome yet...) - DHC

So I have read this BZ https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=855729 and these related ovirt BZs http://gerrit.ovirt.org/#/c/8110/ http://gerrit.ovirt.org/#/c/8797/ http://gerrit.ovirt.org/#/c/8798/ So forgive me but I am a little confused. I have some existing NFS Storage domains that I was not paying attention and attached without doing any advanced parameters in RHEV 3.1 Now the NFS Advanced Parameters box is greyed out. So now that I have attached these domains I cannot change the advanced nfs option such as change it to Nfs4 from 3 or rsize and wsize? Maybe if I was using upstream oVirt instead of Rhev 3.1 I would be able to make the changes in vdsm.conf and they would be honored? -- Chris Noffsinger

[Users] full screen and different resolutions with spice

Let me know if I had better to post to spice-devel.... I'm testing oVirt 3.2 beta user portal. One client boots from a usb stick running SLAX 32bit in persistent mode with kernel 3.6.9. It is a derivative from slackware 14 where I compiled and persistently installed spice-protocol-0.12.2-noarch-1 xf86-video-qxl-0.1.0-i486-1 celt051-0.5.1.3-i486-1 pyparsing-1.5.6-i486-1 spice-0.12.0-i486-1 vala-0.17.6-i486-1 gtk-vnc-0.5.1-i486-2 virt-viewer-0.5.4-i486-1 xulrunner-15.0.1-i486-1 jdk-7u13-i586-1 spice-xpi-2.8-i486-1 so far so good. I can start firefox 17.0.1 and connect to user portal The test VM is Windows XP There was previously a session from another client pc with full screen resolution of 1366x768. Now this other client PC has a max resolution of 1024x768 I notice that it fails to start in full screen (I get the typical window where you see that the screen is bigger than the current physical) and also the Shift+F11 shortcut doesn't get any effect or error. If inside the vm I now set 1024x768 it adjusts and I can set full screen with Shift+F11 and I now can disconnect and reconnect successfully in fullscreen option. Then I close spice window and sign out from user portal (leaving the VM at its logged in screen) If now I connect again to the user portal from the 1366x768 capable client, that is Fedora 17 with firefox 18.0 and spice-gtk-python-0.12-5.fc17.x86_64 spice-xpi-2.8-2.fc17.x86_64 spice-server-0.10.1-5.fc17.x86_64 spice-gtk-tools-0.12-5.fc17.x86_64 spice-client-0.10.1-5.fc17.x86_64 spice-vdagent-0.10.1-1.fc17.x86_64 spice-gtk-0.12-5.fc17.x86_64 spice-glib-0.12-5.fc17.x86_64 spice-gtk3-0.12-5.fc17.x86_64 I connect in full screen mode and I see the Windows XP session just starts in 1024x768 (as I left it) and suddenly adjusts to the 1366x768 capable resolution Any hint on why the fiirst auto-adjust didn't work? - different spice version? - perhaps only possible to up scale but not down scale? - other? This will address situation with one user potentially connecting to the same VM in full screen mode but using different clients and so with possible different video resolutions A work around could be to power off the vm each time but it is not desirable... Also, in Fedora I get the small box at top middle of the screen where I can exit full screen for my vm. Instead in slax I have not it. WHat is the component providing that box? [Users] How do Networks and Vlan-tagging work in oVirt ?

I'm struggeling setting up my network in oVirt at the moment as I would like to seperate specific VM's from other devices/clients in my network. I have decent setup switching network using Vlans, this is also the fact for ovirt and the storage nodes where teh ports are seperated between storage and management. Because I want to manage which client can acces which VM I need Vlan tagging. The question is where are we going to do this, on the VM itself or on the network I attach the VM's Nic to. Because of the lacking documentation at this point it's not clear, so I would like to figure out and maybe change the wiki there. I also cannot understand why I can set an IP to a network and only the subnet where I also can set DHCP which puts also the gateway. I'm not able to set None or DHCP and can only add a network with IP, but what IP and why ? Or just a 192.16.x.0 with a 255.255.255.0 subnet ? I hope someone can clear this a little bit more out. Hi all, I've been asked for a HA solution and I've been testing oVirt with a NFS NAS and 2 hosts where I run 2 VMs that have a balancer at their front, each on a different host. Now I'm thinking on the possibility of a host malfunction and my question is: is there automatic migration of the VMs that are running on this host to the other host? Sorry if it is a silly question :-) Alex

Alex [DF] Power management needed so the engine will be able to fence the malfunctioned host, and only then the VM will auto-migrate. This ensures the VM will not run twice on different hosts while corrupting the disks.
