Entity names in DB scripts
by Yair Zaslavsky
Hi all,
I have a feeling there is some inconsistency in using entity names in the DB scripts.
For example, should we use Host or VDS?
I am not talking about existing tables or columns but about new ones (and new stored procedures).
I am quite sure I saw patches containing both approaches.

[ANN] oVirt 3.4.2 Release is now available
by Sandro Bonazzola
The oVirt development team is pleased to announce the general
availability of oVirt 3.4.2 as of Jun 10th 2014. This release
solidifies oVirt as a leading KVM management application and open
source alternative to VMware vSphere.
oVirt is available now for Fedora 19 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.5
(or similar).
This release of oVirt includes numerous bug fixes.
See the release notes [1] for a list of the new features and bugs fixed.
The existing repository ovirt-3.4 has been updated for delivering this
release without the need of enabling any other repository, however since we
introduced package signing you need an additional step in order to get
the public keys installed on your system if you're upgrading from an older release.
Please refer to release notes [1] for Installation / Upgrade instructions.
Please note that mirrors will need a couple of days before being synchronized.
If you want to be sure to use latest rpms and don't want to wait for the mirrors,
you can edit /etc/yum.repos.d/ovirt-3.4.repo commenting the mirror line and
removing the comment on baseurl line.
A new oVirt Node and oVirt Live ISO will be available soon[2].

Gamification session :: summary (June 9, 2014)
by Vojtech Szocs
Hi guys,
following is a summary of today's Gamification session.
More details can be found on Gamification etherpad [1].
* Eyal gave an overview of oVirt Gamification initiative and its projects
* Vojtech went really quickly through Space Shooter UI plugin
* Vojtech walked through main parts of ProgressBar UI plugin source code
Next action items:
- implement service to retrieve "event" info from Engine
- implement service to load achievement definitions and compare them with "event" info
- modify main tab to show real data (instead of dummy data)
- achievement categories and their respective progress
- list of achievements, visually distinguished by their status (completed/locked/etc.)
Future action items:
- use Grunt to automate common development & build tasks
- provide "badges" (round icons) for different achievements -- any volunteers? :)
- think of logical scenarios (levels) that group multiple achievements
* YamakasY pointed out that it would be nice to have better integration for popular
frameworks like AngularJS, establishing common development tools/libraries, sharing
knowledge and experience with others
Feel free to add anything I might have missed :)

NUMA-support oVirt scheduler intergation design
by Gilad Chaplik
Hi List,
This is the design for NUMA-support oVirt Scheduler integration; I'll add 3
policy unit modules (#) as described in following document:
(1) Filter Module: NUMA_HostFilter:
If the VM has NUMA vNodes/pinning configured, and the rule can't be
accommodated on the host, it'd filtered.
NOTES:
* pin2host filter should make sure the filter gets a single host. the
filter should be transparent to specific hosts.
* not sure we'll want to add this filter in first phase to all
cluster/scheduling policies; @Doron?
Weights Modules:
(2) even_dest_NUMA
Should "even distribute" weights (scores) according to:
* Available memory on nodes
* Numatune memory mode (strict/preferred/interleave)
* Autonuma/pinned NUMA
(3) power_saving_NUMA (added to power_saving cluster/scheduling policy)
* same as even_dest_NUMA with opposite weights.
I'd appreciate any comment or suggestion.
Once approved by you, I'll update the feature page and upload a patch for
review.
Thanks,
Gilad.

GetCaps for jsonrpc
by Piotr Kliczewski
Hi all,
I would like to see whether there are any suggestions how we can
provide information like:
- lastClient
- lastClientIface - network interface on which client connected
In the code prior to jsonrpc changes every time new request (new
connection) was received clientIF threadLocal was updated with client
information.
This code was implemented in xml binding and now we need to provide
similar information for jsonrpc. There is difference that we keep
connection open for jsonrpc so we can't provide behavior as described
above. We can update client information when connection is
established.
Is that OK or are there any suggestions how to update this information?
Thanks,
Piotr
