run ovirt-shell script like background job - problem

Newly deployed ovirt instance can not start a VM

Hello everyone! I just finished setting up our new demo Ovirt implementation, but am having some issues once I get to the point of starting up a VM. Every time we try to start a VM, we get the error: The host {hostname} did not satisfy internal filter Network because network(s) are missing. This is trying to launch vm with the Cirros image from the OVirt glance repository. This is confusing, because we only have one network defined (the "ovirtmgmt" network), and each of our 4 nodes shows it attached and indicated as functional. Our nodes are all CentOS 6.6 installations, with the ovirtmgmt bridge bound to eth2. If I go to Networks/ovirtmgmt under my datacenter, and click on the Networks tab at the top, select the ovirtmgmt network, and Hosts tab at the bottom, it shows that ovirtmgmt network is up on all 4 nodes. Even if I tell the VM to not attach itself to any networks at all, the machine fails to start with the same error. Have done a lot of google searching to no avail. We're also worried we did not get our gluster storage network set up right. We added the Storage Domain as type Data (Master)/GlusterFS, but it looks like Ovirt is using Fuse rather than the new libgfapi functionality - since we can see the gluster mounted /rhev/data-center/mnt/glusterSD/ with fuse.glusterfs, which would indicate we are not using the native Gluster integration. However, the latest info I can find seems to indicate that the gluster integration should be working in latest CentOS builds. Thanks for any help anyone can give me! The boss wants this demo sooner rather than later!

fyi, ovirt.org wiki page was down today from 01:33:07 IST till 10:22 IST. REASON: ======= after logging into the openshift gear, seems like there was 99.9% space taken. RESOLUTION: =========== deleted some logs from $OPENSHIFT_MYSQL_DB_LOG_DIR, and restarted mysql using 'ctl_app restart'. space is still not great - at 84%, so we'll need to think soon how to resolve this. wiki is up now and seems to working well. infra - we should look into migrating to a new gear maybe? or extend again the existing one. Adding domain to oVirt to 3.5 issue

Hello everybody, I have upgraded my oVirt 3.4 to 3.5 version without any problem apparently. I have removed from my oVirt 3.5 the domain with: engine-manage-domains delete --domain=siee.local --user=Administrator And I have removed the domain without problems. But I want to add it again but I can't. I execute the bellow command, put the password of my Administrator domain and I receive the error showed bellow: engine-manage-domains add --domain=SIEE.LOCAL --provider=ad --user=Administrator Enter password: No user in Directory was found for Administrator(a)SIEE.LOCAL. Trying next LDAP server in list Failure while testing domain siee.local. Details: No user information was found for user The password that I use is correct because I can login with user Administrator in the domain siee.local through a Windows 7 Enterprise client. The remaining key milestones for this release must now be scheduled. How to stick VM to hosts?

Hello, I have 2 VMs with the negative Affinity. I am looking some way to force the VMs running on different selected hosts. Assuming I have hosts c1-c8: Can I tell VM to run on c1-c8 but not c2 and c4? Storage domain issue

Dear All, After we updated our hypervisors to : vdsm-4.16.7-1.gitdb83943.el6.x86_64 vdsm-python-4.16.7-1.gitdb83943.el6.noarch vdsm-python-zombiereaper-4.16.7-1.gitdb83943.el6.noarch vdsm-xmlrpc-4.16.7-1.gitdb83943.el6.noarch vdsm-yajsonrpc-4.16.7-1.gitdb83943.el6.noarch vdsm-jsonrpc-4.16.7-1.gitdb83943.el6.noarch vdsm-cli-4.16.7-1.gitdb83943.el6.noarch We don't have access to our storage domain anymore. He jsut doesn't see the disks anymore... I added the vdsm log and engine log. I'm clueless... BEfore he did see the storage domains, now after the system update he doesn't anymore... Hi Nicolas, If the agent is compiled with py2exe (and as you got .exe files it means it was compiled with py2exe) then the executables are self contained, and you don't need to install Python separately in each VM. All you need is to download and install VC runtime, which you can download from here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5582 That should resolve the issue. BTW, we have oVirt WGT (Windows Guest Tools) RPM, with ISO which contains the installer that will install the oVirt Guest Agent (including VC Runtime), as well as drivers etc. automatically for you. If I update configuration using the= web UI, it requires me to manually edit and flip the DEFROUTE argument aga= in. Is there a way to control how this flag is setup? supervdsmServer consumes 30% of host memory

The first node has 40 gb of memory and running only one VM that use 8 gb of ram. But the supervdsmserver consumes 20% of host memory. On the second node has 32 GB of memory with 5 VMs. On this node the supervdsmserver using 30%(!) of memory! On the node3 there are 6 VMs with 72 GB of memory. Hi, We're going to start composing oVirt 3.5.1 RC on *2014-12-09 08:00 UTC* from 3.5 branch. In order to stabilize the release a new branch ovirt-engine-3.5.1 will be created from the same git hash used for composing the RC. The bug tracker [1] shows 1 open blocker: Bug ID Whiteboard Status Summary 1160846 sla NEW Can't add disk to VM without specifying disk profile when the storage domain has more than one disk profile In order to stabilize the release a new branch ovirt-engine-3.5.1 will be created from the same git hash used for composing the RC. Maintainers: - Please be sure that 3.5 snapshot allow to create VMs before *2014-12-08 15:00 UTC* - Please be sure that no pending patches are going to block the release before *2014-12-08 15:00 UTC* - If any patch must block the RC release please raise the issue as soon as possible. - Please provide an ETA for the pending blockers as soon as possible. Infra: - Please check Jenkins status for 3.5 jobs and sync with relevant maintainers if there are issues. There are still 68 bugs [2] targeted to 3.5.1. Replace Crashed Server

Hi, I have the following architecture :- 1. 4*Ovirt Host node with gluster (Distributed replicated storage...replica=2)..with 8 bricks on each server i.e I am using same host for compute as well as storage purpose... My question is if any day one of my node completely dead...and seems i have one spare node with same configuration and disk space.... 1. How i can replaced this new host with failed host... 2. How the gluster bricks replaced ?? I found one url http://gluster.org/community/documentation/index.php/Gluster_3.2:_Brick_Res… But what the OVirt side...because every node has it's own key and UUID... Thanks, Punit
