Re: [ovirt-users] Fwd: Ovirt qouta
by Donny Davis
Would the quota be set per user, because that's how things are already
setup. When I make a quota it is for the whole group, which is all of my
users.
All of my users are in the public facing group.
Thanks for your help

so you need to setup your users with ldap groups. I believe you have to glue
here your users subscription with your ldap and then that would be no
problem. once your ldap domain is setup with the desired group its easy to
set a quota on it.

Assigning it to group and add your users into that group should do the job.

Bring down one of multiple storage domains in a data center
by Rik Theys
Hi,
We are planning to use oVirt to manage our virtual machine
infrastructure. We would like to connect two different storage boxes to
the hosts, which I believe will result in two storage domains in the
same datacenter for oVirt?
One of the storage boxes sometimes has to be powered down during
building maintenance (electricity, cooling, ...). Will the data center
with the two storage domains attached still be considered "up" when one
of the storage domains is no longer available?
Is it sufficient to power down the VM's with disks on the affected
storage domain and to put the affected storage domain in maintenance?
Will oVirt keep the datacenter "up" and keep on managing the remaining
VM's on the other storage domain?
One of the storage domains will be a SAS-connected external storage box.
There will be two SAS connections per host to the storage box so
multipath should see the two paths. My understanding is that anything
detected by multipathd is considered "FC" storage by oVirt. Is that correct?

Does anyone know if there if a way to set quotas without manually doing it for each user.
As many of you already know I am the proprietor of cloudspin.me where I offer IaaS for free on ipv6.
I would like to set per user quotas without having to manually do it for each person.
In the next couple weeks I am going to make a lot more storage available to users, and it would be nice if they could set things up how they want... One big machine, many little machines... Etc
Any idea's

Re: [ovirt-users] Help understanding Gluster in oVirt
by Donny Davis
I am using ctdb for my storage only nodes and I must be doing something wrong because I still have selinux problems without using gluster to replicate my meta data for ctdb. They are storage only so turning off selinux doesn't bother me quite as much.
Ctdb does work quite well for that purpose, as its a distribute only gluster.
BTW thank you for the tutorial, I was kinda lost with glusterfs before I read it.

Problems re-attaching an export domain
by Chris Burckhard
I had some issues with the virtual manager after upgrading, so exported my virtual machines to an export domain, then I tried to do a reinstall of the os and ovirt to go back to a previous version. I know now, that I should have put the storage into maintenance before re-installing, but I didn’t. Is there any way to get the export domain added to a new storage domain if the old one is gone?
Error message that I get I try to attach the storage:
error while executing action attach storage domain: the domain is already used by another data center

[Event] 2015 oVirt Asia Workshop
by Brian Proffitt
As oVirt strives to become the best open source and comprehensive data center virtualization management suite, and its community rapidly evolves and grows, one of the ways its vibrant community connects is through our Global Workshops. The events are conducted solely to introduce new users and veteran oVirt admins to new features and new techniques found in oVirt, as well as provide a forum for our users to connect directly with the development team behind oVirt.
With that in mind, we are pleased to announce that registration is now open for the 2014 oVirt Workshop!
The next 2015 oVirt workshop will be co-located with the FOSSAsia in Singapore on March 14, 2015. This workshop is designed to encourage collaboration in our community, lay the foundation for best practices in oVirt use, convey end-user stories, and help answer questions about the project from both a developer and user's perspective.
For more information, and to register for the event, visit the Workshop page[1] today!
