Installing oVirt on RHEL vs CentOS Stream, Alma or Rocky Linux

I'm still struggling to get oVirt installed. It absolutely will not install on RHEL 8, the documentation here is flat out wrong: https://www.ovirt.org/documentation/installing_ovirt_as_a_standalone_manage… javapackages-tools is not a module that exists in RHEL 8. Apparently it's a CentOS PowerTools module. Since original CentOS no longer really exists either, does anyone have any opinions or experience with installing oVirt on any of: - CentOS Stream 8 - Alma Linux 8.5 - Rocky Linux Alma in particular looks like a straight replacement for old CentOS. How to list all snapshots?

Hello everyone! First, I would like to thank everyone involved in this wonderful project. I leave here my sincere thanks! Does anyone know if it is possible to list all snapshots automatically? It can be by ansible, python, shell... any way that helps to list them all without having to enter Domain by Domain. Thank you all!

Hi Team, when I want to commit the older snapshots I'm getting warning stating " Existing snapshots that were taken after this one will be erased.". is there any way we can retain the latest snapshots as is in the chain? I knew cloning and template export options are there to secure that latest snapshot data but these are will consume additional space in storage and take time.

Restart oVirt-Engine

Host deploy failure: Configure OVN for oVirt

Good day, I am running into a problem during host deploy via the oVirt engine GUI since upgrading to ovirt-engine-4.5.5-1.el8. The "Configure OVN for oVirt" task seem to fail when trying to run the vdsm-tool ovn-config command. Host deploy used to work fine when the engine was on version 4.5.4. Anyone that can guide me on the right path to get past this issue? Unable to access ovirt Admin Screen from ovirt Host

I've reinstalled ovirt 4.4 on my server remotely via cockpit terminal. I'm able to access the ovirt admin screen remotely from the laptop that I used for the install. However, using the same URL I'm unable to gain access to the admin screen. Following the instruction in the documentation I've modified the file: /etc/ovirt-engine/engine.conf.d/99-custom-sso-setup.conf, to reflect the DNS name and I enter in the IP address. But I'm still unable to access the screen from the server console. What else needs to change in order to gain access from the server console? Thanks

Hello, running ovirt Version 4.5.4-1.el8 on Centos 8, randomly we have this error: VM has been paused due to no Storage space error. We have plenty of space on the iSCSI storage. This is a preallocated disk, VirtIO-SCSi. No user interaction. It happens, so far, with 3 VM, Windows and Ubuntu. Hi all, my ovirt cluster has got 3 Hypervisors runnig Centos 7.5.1804 vdsm is 4.20.39.1-1.el7, ovirt engine is 4.2.4.5-1.el7, the storage systems are HP MSA P2000 and 2050 (fibre channel). I need to stop one of the hypervisors for maintenance but this system is the storage pool manager. For this reason I decided to manually activate SPM in one of the other nodes but this operation is not successful. oVirt CLI tool for automation tasks

We recently migrated from VMware to oVirt. I am looking for any CLI tool well suited for my automation tasks like VM create, clone, migrate 100s of Virtual machines in oVirt cluster. with VMware I was using govc (vSphere CLI built on top of govmomi). Another option I read is powercli, quite unsure if it works with oVirt. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

Latest 4.5.5 centos node install username password not working.

I been trying to install 4.5.5 testing and used the node installer iso. I cant login what is the username and password I have tried what others have done in the forums with no luck admin@ovirt . root admin . Also can the engine be installed from the node via the cockpit still? How can I get logged in to do this? I have used 4.3 and didnt have any of these problems. It was really simple to do. Any suggestions? grazie

Hi, I have 1 problem when using the Python SDK to make backups of virtual machine images, after updating to Ovirt 4.5. Before the update and with Ovirt 4.4 and Centos 8 everything worked. Installing on iSCSI boot node

I've installed the oVirt node on iSCSI boot server (Cisco UCS chassis) But when I go to add to the manager it fails and the Node loses contact with it's ibft interface. Anyway I can leave the interface alone when adding to the manager? I have 5 physical interfaces attached to the node. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Using the node 4.5 installer. I add the ip=ibft to the installation startup and seems to work mostly... Thanks in advance

Hi, I followed guide to install the oVirt Engine. I also used the suggestion to use oVirt master snapshot repositories. But during the installation I obtain the following error: "The host has been set in non_operational status, deployment errors: code 154: Host ********* is compatible with versions (4.2,4.3,4.4,4.5,4.6,4.7) and cannot join Cluster Default which is set to version 4.8., code 9000: Failed to verify Power Management configuration for Host *******., fix accordingly and re-deploy."} How I can solve this problem? I cannot find any suggestion on internet.

oVirt Node 4.5.5 no virtualization tab

I have installed 4.5.5 and can get to the Web Interface at :9090 on all 3. I have been able to add the SSH keys and from any of the 3 hosts web interface I can get to the others from the drop down. But there is no Virtualization Tab on any of the 3, so no way to create VM's. I have followed a few instructions from some threads I've found on here https://www.ovirt.org/dropped/gluster-hyperconverged/chap-Deploying_Hyperco… I subscribed all 3 hosts to the repo, and installed the engine, but the cockpit-ovirt-dashboard doesn't exist to install, and I'm guessing that's where I will find what I need to make this usable. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, Probably this is my first mail to this list. I am facing lot of dependency issue while installing ovirt-engine, moreover on getting openstack, ceph and ansible. I have specified the repo paths in /etc/yum.repo.d/<>, it seems openstack path show EoL and I am unable to install its dependent packages. I am working on limited env with customization over RHEL9 though I am not having any RHSM support. I am installing things 1 by 1 and would like to get help on the installation steps and list of rpms needed to do engine-setup. Hi. Currently we're using oVirt 4.5 that still based on el8s (Both host end the engine), because CentOS 8 Stream had been EOL'ed we want to migrate the engine using Standalone Engine (not the self hosted) and uses any el9 capable OS. What is the proper way to do it ? And after the migration what will happened to storage domain that used by the Self Hosted Engine in el8 ? API to Query OVA files from the hosts/ mounted locations

We are storing images in an NFS share that will be mounted to KVM hosts. When I attempt to provision a VM using the mounted path, it successfully provisions the VM from the OVA files. However, if an incorrect path is provided, it results in an 'Operation Failed' error. The error message is not so descriptive. To prevent this issue, I'd like to validate if the OVA file already exists in the specified path. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any APIs to query images directly from mounted locations on the host. While the web UI does display an error if an incorrect path is provided, I'm wondering if there are any APIs available to validate the presence of the OVA file in the specific path.
