I was attempting to assign some permissions to Active Directory groups and ran into an issue where groups with spaces or the # sign in them. The engine log contained messages like these 2013-05-22 08:39:35,228 WARN [org.ovirt.engine.core.bll.SearchQuery] (ajp--127.0.0.1-8702-134) ResourceManager::searchBusinessObjects - erroneous search text - ADGROUP: name=#Virtual Engineering 2013-05-22 08:39:35,228 WARN [org.ovirt.engine.core.bll.SearchQuery] (ajp--127.0.0.1-8702-46) ResourceManager::searchBusinessObjects - erroneous search text - ADUSER: allnames=#Virtual Engineering The group name is valid. The example above contains both the space and #, but trying groups with just a space and others with just a # also fail. I was able to successfully add groups that contained characters and -. Has anyone else had an issue like this?

Is there a method with pools to update (install new apps or updates) a "golden image" and have those updates propagate to a pool? Seems currently you have to create a new template from the image and then create a new pool.

Hello, what should I do to accomplish what in subject? Also, I currently have fedora 18 and ovirt 3.2.1 (with ovirt-release-fedora-5-3.noarch). I see that at http://resources.ovirt.org/releases/ there is also ovirt-release-fedora-6-1.noarch.rpm released on 7th of May. WHat is that for? How to catch it other than manually? In my current /etc/yum.repos.d/ovirt.repo I don't see any updates-testing repo to enable.... Thanks in advance, Gianluca

I'd like to try out ovirt with native glusterfs. I have ovirt-engine from nightly installed on a Fedora 18 box successfully. I'm trying to run Fedora 18 nodes with vdsm from nightly along with gluster 3.4 beta and libvirt and qemu-kvm from rebuild from F19 beta srpms. I'm using vdsm-4.10.3-10.fc18.x86_64 When I try adding that Fedora 18 node to ovirt it gives the error: "Host station2 is compatible with versions (3.0,3.1,3.2) and cannot join Cluster GlusterFS which is set to version 3.3." Shouldn't the vdsm from nightly be 3.3 compatible? Anyway, I edited /usr/share/vdsm/dsaversion.py and added 3.3 to list, no more complaint but I'm not if that is actually going to work or not. Thoughts? Is there a better way for me to test out the new direct glusterfs api support? Thanks, Dax Kelson

Here's the steps to reproduce the problme: 1. Click maintab A, click an item in the list, the subtab is shown out. 2. Click another maintab B, then click A maintab again, click an item in the list, the subtab is missing. If after clicking maintab B, I clicked its item in the list, I can see the subtab normally, and so does maintab A.

Hi, I have been trying out various cluster policies on latest ovirt. On enabling Load Balancing policy: power saving, I have observed migration of VMs and consolidating them on fewer hosts resulting in under utilised hosts cleared of VMs. Is the onus on the administrator to switch off all under utilized systems ? Is there any knob I am missing that automatically turns off under utilized hosts and powers on the hosts on a need basis. Regards, Deepthi

Hello, I am trying to convert and import VMware ovf image by virt-v2v (on Fedora 18) but I can not make it. I took a look to man pages and there is option ova for converting, but if I try it, it fails. The command is : virt-v2v -i ova -o rhev -os export.example.cz:/data/col1/virt --network ovirtmgmt /home/zca-8.0.3.0-1043216_OVF10.ova and it throws: virt-v2v: Guest doesn't define any storage devices I believe, that specified import command may be wrong, but I did not find any examples for "virt-v2v ova" command. Hi All, Don't know if this is documented somewhere but I ran into an interesting problem yesterday. First we had intermittent problems with ssh connecting to VMs which we traced to having two oVirt installation being active in one subnet. Found the post from January where it is explained how engine allocates its mac address pool and how to set it with engine-config -s MacPoolRanges. Today I remembered that I had done that when I was about to start a VM and removed the nic from the VM and added it back. To my surprise it got the same macaddress as it had (from the old range). On a hunch I restarted ovirt-engine and redid the remove/add operation and now it got a new mac address from the range specified. Shouldn't the engine be aware that the config is changed if you use engine-config and reload its cached values from the database? I expected this but it seems not to be the case, bug or by design. Hi all, I have a question. Is it possible to use OCFS2 with ovirt? I have a storage (hp eva 8000) that doesn't support nfs, neither iscsi. I want to create a volume in the storage and present it to all ovirt nodes, so all the nodes will have the same /dev/sdb Is this possible? Will ovirt consider this volume local ? Hello, anyone succeeding in doing what in subject? F18 node with 3.2 final. ANother server with f18 and engine (3.2 also) Tried with a Win 7 VM and a CentOS 5 VM. I successfully create a snapshot. Then I right-click the snapshot line and select "clone" I get this window that remains there without exiting.... Hi all, Currently I have some problems with the ISO and Export domain. The domains were pointing to an old nfs mount so I removed them. I got a red cross with "failed to remove". I restarted the VM running ovirt engine and the domains are gone in de storage view. Now I try to add the ISO domain again to point it to the new nfs server but I get the message "Create operation failed. Domain ISO already exists in the system." There is nothing in the logs and I can't find where it's configured. Can anyone tell me where to look and how to fix this manually? Hello, Summary I'm testing engine-image-uploader to transport 2 vms (named infra and c2) from an environment to another one that are not interconnected. They are both 3.2.1 on fedora 18 (the second one is all-in-one) I have problems with engine-image-uploader at destination, due to not enough space in /tmp the error is: # engine-image-uploader -e EXP_DOMAIN upload /data/users/gcecchi/c2_and_infra.ovf Please provide the REST API password for the admin@internal oVirt Engine user (CTRL+D to abort): ERROR: Not enough space in /tmp: 11648Mb are needed. But on fedora 18 /tmp is on tmpfs in ram by default and so it is on my system.... so I would like to tweak this path.... how? I tried 'python OvirtGuestService.py install' || 'net start OvirtGuestService', it just logged me out and no ip was reported to the engine. However, when I logged as any user on Windows using 'python OvirtGuestService.py debug', it seemed to be working all fine(ip, application... were reported) . Someone said that the service must be started under a user, I tried make it started with a user, like Administrator, LOCALSYSTEM, but an error reported. Do I have other ways to make it run as a service?

I now want my vm to work on vlan 128 so I added the nic to ovirtmgmt bridge. I have access to vlan 1 (the bridge to the bond) but even if I add the vlan interface into the vm, I have no network traffic on vlan 128. I've created a new network in the cluster for vlan 128 but the web UI is not allowing me to add it on top of oviftmgmt (which I can do manually in the host but then I can't add it to the vm as a new nic because it only shows the ovirtmgmt interface). Is there a way to do this by cli? Regards,

Hello, We[1] are working on a re-implementation of ovirt-engine setup to a more advanced and customizable implementation. A significant feature is the ability to use the installer on different distributions, first was Gentoo[2], I am working on Ubuntu. Another[3] major features is the ability to use the same setup procedure for production and development. Among of other changes is the option to install product into existing database without having the DBA user, avoid redirection of root URI into application, ability to customize almost anything, and the option of localization. Although this is technology preview and likely to break, we merged this so people may experience the new setup at early stage and provide feedback so we may solve as many issues as we can before product release. So come on, you brave people... let's see you break our setup! This should be available at tomorrow's nightly packages. STATUS Side-by-side installation New installer and legacy installers are available side-by-side. Legacy installer: engine-setup, engine-upgrade, engine-cleanup. New installer: engine-seutp-2, engine-cleanup-2. This means that once ovirt-engine is installed, there is an option to use the legacy setup or the new setup. Compatibility Onces setup is done by either, it cannot be updated by the other. We will work toward having a solution of upgrade legacy to the new, but not the other way around. Coverage setup should be feature complete. cleanup currently only clean files that were created by the setup, not these which were modified. upgrade is implemented using re-execution of setup, currently only database upgrade is performed, no package upgrade.
