obtain spm id (host id) from engine using api

in ovirt engine the table. vds_spm_id_map holds the ids used in spm election. engine_20150824095956=# select * from vds_spm_id_map ; storage_pool_id | vds_spm_id | vds_id --------------------------------------+------------+-------------------------------------- 144fb47d-b38c-4bb7-867b-373d7ba9f0a9 | 1 | 313ed02c-8029-4fb3-ba1c-5b3c9902ddb1 144fb47d-b38c-4bb7-867b-373d7ba9f0a9 | 2 | 7fdebf8a-1503-4b54-9681-0201ee330381 these particular id's seem to be added when a vds is added to the engine or when the storage pool is first setup. I would like to be able to obtain this nr (in my case its generally 1 or 2 as i have two hosts per dc / cluster) through an api or even better from the hosts itself. When testing I connect to the storage pools using the api and its important the hostid used when making this api call is correct or bad things happen. I have been searching high and low to no avail. In understand the engine is in charge here but i really would be helped if this values can be obtained without going into the db. As i am continuously rebuilding dc's / storage pools and hosts i cannot keep track of when which host is installed hence the need to know the spm_id as listed. It might be i am all wrong but the when i use the vds_spm_id as listed i can connect the host to the storage pools using the api. thanks Joost

Dear Team, We are using Ovirt 4.0 for POC what we are doing I want to check with all Guru's Ovirt. We have 2 hp proliant dl 380 with 500GB SAS & 1TB *4 SAS Disk and 500GB SSD. Waht we are done we have install ovirt hyp on these h/w and we have physical server where we are running our manager for ovirt. For ovirt hyp we are using only one 500GB of one HDD rest we have kept for ceph, so we have 3 node as guest running on ovirt and for ceph. My question you all is what I am doing is right or wrong. oVirt Host Installation Problem.

Hi, I have installed oVirtEngine on CentOS and running Node through virt manager. I am trying to link node to the engine, but its giving the following error Host oVirtHost installation failed. VM Import Fails

Unprompted engine VdsDeploy -- updating a package on host?

Hi, As I was going through my daily logwatch I noticed that a package got updated on my ovirt host last night. But I know that I didn't do that on my own. Looking at the logs I tracked it down to the hosted engine running a VdsDeploy process which updated the package on the host. I know from the timestamp that it wasn't me that initiated that action. Ovirt 4.0 spice console attempting to connect to HV private IP

Hello, I've recently upgraded from ovirt 3.6 to 4.0 and have run into an issue that I'm not finding an explanation or solution to. Currently when I create a new VM and start it up and attempt to connect to the console I get the following error. "Unable to connect to the graphic server Could not connect to 10.1.1.1: Socket I/O timed out" If I attempt to launch a console for a VM created before the upgrade it opens successfully. If I save the console.vv file I can see that the HV public IP address is in this file. If I do the same thing for the failing vm and I see the HV private mgmnt network IP. I'm not finding where I can change which IP is used for console access or a difference in how the VMs created before the upgrade are configured compared to the new VMs. I should also note that I attempted to change the IP in the failing VMs console.vv file and then use it with the remove-viewer spice client and it fails to connect to the port. You need to make sure it's available. Check your NFS server. SSH in and verify everything is copacetic. The SSH to your host and again verify that everything is okay. Check the logs. VM Migration Failed

I am running ovirt 3.6 on our cluster and VM migration is failing. The VDSM logs show an error as follows. jsonrpc.Executor/7::ERROR::2016-12-16 08:41:04,398::vm::4714::virt.vm::(_updateDevicesDomxmlCache) vmId=`dc419d2b-522a-4e96-b06a-243ec8ede44e`::Alias not found for device type redir during migration at destination host Does anybody know what would cause this? 3.6.7 engine: compatible with host centos 7.3/vdsm 4.18/qemu 2.6?

Planning and upgrade from 3.6.8 to 4.0.6: 4.0.6 mentions supporting CentOS 7.3 and qemu-kvm-ev 2.6 Is it possible in a 3.6.7 environment to upgrade all the hosts first to CentOS 7.3, vdsm 4.18, and qemu-kvm-ev 2.6 before tackling the engine? In other words, is the 4.0.6 host stack compatible with a 3.6.7 engine? -- Richard Chan

later than 3.6.7, right?) GlusterFS volumes are being managed from the hosts commandline only, while the oVirt Engine webui is used only to monitor them. The GlusterFS part is currently experiencing some recurring NFS crashes (using internal GlusterFS NFS support, not NFS-Ganesha) as reported in Gluster users mailing list and in Bugzilla (http://www.gluster.org/pipermail/gluster-users/2016-December/029357.html and https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1381970 without any feedback insofar...) but only on not-oVirt-related volumes. Finally, I can confirm that checking all oVirt-related and not-oVirt-related GlusterFS volumes from the hosts commandline with: vdsClient -s localhost glusterVolumeStatus volumeName=nomevolume always succeeds without errors.
