Mikrotik CHR guest agent

Hello all I have installed MikroTik Cloud Hosted Router on my oVirt 4.2 setup It starts fine and so but oVirt complains about guest-agent. At MikroTik this information is available regarding guest-agent https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:CHR#KVM But I don't understand what I shall do with that information to get it working. ovirt4.1 repo error

I am trying to upgrade my ovirt cluster and came across a repo 404. http://mirror.centos.org/centos/7/storage/x86_64/gluster-3.8/repodata/repom…: [Errno 14] HTTP Error 404 - Not Found Trying other mirror. self hosted engine mac range and possible conflict

Hello, suppose I have an environment with self hosted engine environment in 4.1 How is it generated the hw address of the virtual nic of the engine vm when I deploy using cockpit? Suppose on a lan I already have a self hosted engine environment and I'm going to create another one on the same lan, is there any risck of hw address collision for the engine? I know that from inside web admin console I can then set the hw address ranges for the VMs, but what about the mac of the engine vm itself? At the moment I have only lan access and so crosschecked an RHV 4.1 environment and I see that the engine has hw addr 00:16:3e:7c:65:34 (a lookup seems to associate to "Xensource, Inc.") while the VMs have their hw addr in the range 00:1a:4a:16:01:51 - 00:1a:4a:16:01:e6 (eg the 00:1a:4a:16:01:56) (a lookup seems to associate to "Qumranet Inc.". Does this mean that the engine has a sort of dedicated range? Any risk of collision or is a query on the lan done before assigning it? BTW: probably the range for engine VM hw addr has to be put in Qumranet too...? Thanks in advance, Gianluca

How to add hosted-engine deployment in oVIrt 4.2.3 after host has already been added to cluster ?

Hello everybody, how am I supposed to add an additional hosted-engine deployment to a cluster to a host that has already been added - "hosted-engine -- deploy" in the hosts terminal tells me to do it using the webUI ( oVirt 4.2.3 ) but in WebUI I haven't found a way to do so - also in Cockpit it offers me to "Redeploy" the Hosted-engine setup is that the way to go? It would really hurt if this would break the whole stuff. Usually I'd just try that before bothering you guys here - but this deployment is currently in use so this would really hurt. VM import and manage custom property missing on new env

Hello, I have a VM exported in 4.1 and imported in 4.1 into a different env On original env where I exported I had the VM configured with custom property hugepages. On new env where I have imported it, I have not (yet) configured this custom property. In "Edit VM" I don't see anything related, so I cannot "diable" it, but if I try to power on the VM I get: Error while executing action: vm1_import: - Cannot run VM if some of the specified custom properties are not configured by the system. The keys are: hugepages Is it possible to choose during import phase if one wants to preserve or not custom properties in general? What can I do to workaround if I don't mind to use huge pages on the imported VM? Thanks, Gianluca

Upgrade host to 4.2 - 10gbe connection does not work anymore

Hi All, I did successfully upgraded my 4.1 hosted engine and the first node to 4.2.3. Since upgrade, the node's 10Gbe connection does not work. It was the connection between host and storage. That is why, now I can't activate my node. I have IP and I have all of bonding, and it seems to fine. All other networks and bonds (1gbe) is working fine, I can communicate with other hosts. I had a mode-1 (active/passive) bonding on that interfaces. I can ping from other nodes, but not from this. Also, I did a full OS upgrade (yum update) on node. Somebody could me help? Cluster compatibility 4.1 to 4.2 upgrade

Dear Listmember, I've just upgrade to my ovirt-hosted-engine from 4.1 to 4.2.3. It was successful, but it saw " Data Center XYZ compatibility version is 4.1, which is lower than latest engine version 4.2. Please upgrade your Data Center to latest version to successfully finish upgrade of your setup." My first question is that, it need to do BEFORE or AFTER the node upgrades? I haven't upgrade my nodes yet, because after upgrade the live migration does not work with some VMs. It seems only affected those VMs that's have big (>8GB ) memory. It counting to 99 percent and after a while just stopped. At this moment I can't stop my affected, productive VMs, so I can't do the upgrade of nodes. I just wondering, if i do the upgrade to 4.2 , that's maybe repair my the live migration function? What can I do? Centos 7.4, NFS storage, 4 nodes, Hyperconverged hosted engine. How to update "quota_cluster_limit" settings of a quota object through REST API?

Hi, I can update the vCPU and memory quota by editing a Quota object of a datacenter through webadmin portal, but it seems that I cannot update through REST API... Work-Around for Access Problem to resources.ovirt.org and jenkins.ovirt.org

Hello All. Please note that ovirt.org got HSTS setting enabled. The way this change was rolled was not authorised by us. The setting contains “includeSubDomains” parameter that ask browser to access all resources inside *.ovirt.org using https://. The problem is that not all resources on *.ovirt.org are https-enabled. And this will prevent you from being able to access http://resources.ovirt.org http://jenkins.ovirt.org This setting is cached in your browser and then applied with no exceptions even if you explicitly specify http:// the browser will rewrite to https and then connection to above mentioned resources will fail. The only immediate work-around for you is to clear the HSTS flag in your browser, please find the instructions for Firefox and Chrome [1]. Please note that you will get that setting back by visiting ovirt.org website until we clear it from there. We are currently working on this setting to be soften or disabled till all resources are https enabled that is also in progress. This is only related to access via the web browser. Self Hosted Engine and iSCSI doubt

Hello, a doubt for 4.1 related to LUNs / storage domains to dedicate to hosted engine storage and normal data domain storage. In oVirt docs here: https://ovirt.org/documentation/self-hosted/chap-Deploying_Self-Hosted_Engi… doesn't say anything special to differentiate iSCSI based and FC-SAN based storage for hosted engine. Inside the docs of Self-Hosted Engine Guide for RHV (bot 4.1 final and 4.2beta ones) there is this general statement: " You must have prepared storage for your self-hosted engine environment. At least two storage domains are required: - A shared storage domain dedicated to the Manager virtual machine. This domain is created during the self-hosted engine deployment, and must be at least 60 GB. - A data storage domain for regular virtual machine data. This domain must be added to the self-hosted engine environment after the deployment is complete. " So far so good. But a bit below there is a particular note for iSCSI that I don't understand quite well " IMPORTANT If you are using iSCSI storage, do not use the same iSCSI target for the shared storage domain and data storage domain. " Does it simply remark that the LUN for the hosted engine storage (shared storage domain) should be different from the LUN(s) used then for normal VMs (data storage domain), or what? I think it doesn't refer to the portal that for some reason needs to be different, correct? Any clarification about this restrictions? Thanks, Gianluca

Host install failed - cannot set maintenance or remove

Dear All, There appears to be an issue with the host install on these, there's quite a lot of errors being kicked out into the logs as they cycle through attempting to activate, failing, and then failing to go into maintenance. I can't remove the hosts from the engine to attempt to reinstall them. Issue presented from having a statically configured network on the ovritmgmt network on the hosts before running the host install. There are SQL errors (FK missing) and assorted goodness in there. My old platform with ovirt 4.1 was deleted ans reinstalled with ovirt 4.2.3. It's ok but i have a problem with an export domain which has not been unattached before the extinction of the old platform. When i try to attach this export domain, i have the error message in the gui : Failed to attach Storage Domain oVirtNFS_EXPORT to Data Center xxx. newbie questions on networking

Hi All, I'm new to oVirt and have set up a basic cluster of an engine and five hosts, using the quick start and default settings as much as possible. I confess it's taken some heavy flailing to get this far, the docs all seem to be for the previous versions and the latest greatest appears to be significantly different. I now have a working data center / cluster /hosts and a bouncing baby ubuntu server LTS VM. My VM is getting a DHCP address and nameservers from the data center the hosts sit in. But from the VM I can only ping the IP of the host the VM is on. Can't reach the gateway of the local subnet, or anything in the real world. Am I missing some step? the "Quick Start" doesn't say much beyond "The ovirtmgmt Management network is used for this document, however if you wish to create new logical networks see the oVirt Administration Guide." The admin guide has information on creating new networks but I'm not spotting the parts I need to connect my VM to the real world. Or how to attach another network to the host if all NICs are in use. Short Version: * Is some change needed to allow VMs on the ovirtmgmt network to connect to the real world? If so, what? * Is the ovirtmgmt network not meant for "commodity" use, and instead I should have some other network? If so, how do I connect that to the real LAN/WAN, and how do I replace the ovirtmgmt with it? (my hosts each only have two NICs bonded in a pair). Hope to hear from you, Randy in Seattle

Problems with OVN

Hi all, I'm building a home lab using oVirt+GlusterFS in hyperconverged(ish) setup. My setup consists of 2x nodes with ASRock H110M-STX motherboard, Intel Pentium G4560 3,5 GHz CPU and 16 GB RAM. Motherboard has integrated Intel Gigabit I219V LAN. At the moment I'm using RaspberryPi as Gluster arbiter node. Nodes are connected to basic "desktop switch" without any management available. Hardware is nowhere near perfect, but it get its job done and is enough for playing around. However I'm having problems getting OVN to work properly and I'm clueless where to look next. oVirt is setup like this: oVirt engine host oe / 10.0.1.101 oVirt hypervisor host o2 / 10.0.1.18 oVirt hypervisor host o3 / 10.0.1.21 OVN network 10.0.200.0/24 When I spin up a VM in o2 and o3 with IP address in network 10.0.1.0/24 everything works fine. VMs can interact between each other without any problems. Problems show up when I try to use OVN based network between virtual machines. If virtual machines are on same hypervisor then everything seems to work ok. But if I have virtual machine on hypervisor o2 and another one on hypervisor o3 then TCP connections doesn't work very well. UDP seems to be ok and it's possible to ping hosts, do dns & ntp queries and so on. Problem with TCP is that for example when taking SSH connection to another host at some point connection just hangs and most of the time it's not even possible to even log in before connectiong hangs. If I look into tcpdump at that point it looks like packets never reach destination. Also, if I have multiple connections, then all of them hang at the same time. I have tried switching off tx checksum and other similar settings, but it didn't make any difference. I'm suspecting that hardware is not good enough. Before investigating into new hardware I'd like to get some confirmation that everything is setup correctly. When setting up oVirt/OVN I had to run following undocumented command to get it working at all: vdsm-tool ovn-config 10.0.1.101 10.0.1.21 (oVirt engine IP, hypervisor IP). Especially this makes me think that I have missed some crucial part in configuration. On oVirt engine in /var/log/openvswitch/ovsdb-server-nb.log there are error messages: 2018-05-06T08:30:05.418Z|00913|stream_ssl|WARN|SSL_read: unexpected SSL connection close 2018-05-06T08:30:05.418Z|00914|jsonrpc|WARN|ssl:127.0.0.1:53152: receive error: Protocol error 2018-05-06T08:30:05.419Z|00915|reconnect|WARN|ssl:127.0.0.1:53152: connection dropped (Protocol error) To be honest, I'm not sure what's causing those error messages or are they related. oVirt and Oracle Linux support

Hi, I'm new to this ML. I started to play a bit with oVirt and I saw that you actually support RH and CentOS. Is there any plan to also support Oracle Linux ? I had to fight so much to get everything on OL correctly running. Thanks Simon

Can you please run the following command and send the output? vdsm-client StorageDomain getInfo storagedomainID=<sdUUID> You may need to move the storage to maintenance and re-initialize it.
