iptables management

During setup, I allowed the script to change iptables rules. Is this necessary? Also, is it an "active" management (where oVirt will make changes), or just a one-time thing? I ask because I have some other iptables setup I want (such as limited SSH access), and I don't want to make changes to iptables that oVirt will override later or anything like that. -- Chris Adams <cma(a)cmadams.net>

ovirt local datacenter/cluster using zfs local storage for storage domain?

I don't really need high availability and I have 3 servers wit= h fast SSDs on local storage I'd like to use, preferably using ZFS to ensur= e reliability of the storage. I set up a brand new CentOS 6.6 minimal install and have been able to get o= Virt up using the all-in-one plugin. I can use local storage (the default E= XT4 LVM filesystem CentOS sets up) to setup a local data center for each of= the servers but have run into issues when I try to provision a ZFS filesys= tem as a local storage domain. I'm using ZFS on Linux 0.6.3. I first had multipath.conf issues, which prevented me from even setting up = a zpool using the local disks. After blacklisting the local disks in /etc/m= ultipath.conf, I was able to get zfs up and running and create the local do= mains, but I get errors when I try to create a storage Domain of type: Data= / Local on Host and point at the ZFS path (/vmstore/isos) (PS: I'm not try= ing to create an ISO domain, it's just a directory name isos) The error message that comes up is "Error while executing action New Local = Storage Domain: Storage Domain target is unsupported". Has anyone tried this before? I am able to set up an NFS export of the ZFS = folder as a Storage Domain (using directions here: http://virt.guru/2014/02= /25/installing-ovirt-with-shared-local-storage/) but if possible, I'd like = to skip the NFS layer if I can and just go directly to the hardware. I’m using ZFS on Linux 0.6.3.<o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> I first had multipath.conf issues, which prevented m= e from even setting up a zpool using the local disks. After blacklisting th= e local disks in /etc/multipath.conf, I was able to get zfs up and running = and create the local domains, but I get errors when I try to create a storage Domain of type: Data / Local o= n Host and point at the ZFS path (/vmstore/isos) (PS: I’m not trying = to create an ISO domain, it’s just a directory name isos)<o:p></o:p><= /p> <o:p> </o:p> The error message that comes up is “Error whil= e executing action New Local Storage Domain: Storage Domain target is unsup= ported”.<o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> Has anyone tried this before? can't create new disk for vm

Hi all, Since I upgraded engine to 3.5, I can't add new disk anymore to existant vms, none than create a new vm with a new disk. Clicking on OK button after the disk definition does nothing. I tried many situations (preallocated or thin provision) or changing of storage domain, but it is the same. Has anybody encountered the same issue?

noVNC problems after upgrading to 3.5.0

I had noVNC working under 3.4, but can’t seem to get it back up after updating to 3.5.0. VNC is working if I make direct connections, but it looks like the web socket proxy never tries to connect to the host server. noVNC is just reporting then generic 1006 error. Firefox reports it already has the right ca.crt installed, so it’s not that. From watching the network, it looks like it never gets authenticated properly to the web proxy, and never tries to connect on from there. Any way to get some debugging info for the web socket proxy? Not locating any in the usual log files when I try this… Anyone else seeing a similar problem? -Darrell

hosted engine , how to make changes to the VM post deploy

I have successfully migrated my standalone ovirt into a hosted instance. I have some questions and comments. Is there a mechanism to make changes to the hosted engine VM post deploy. I would like to change some of the VM configuration choices. I tried setting the maintenance mode to "global" and then editing: /etc/ovirt-hosted-engine/vm.conf I changed something simple: the VM name. Then I copied the file to the two other HA hosts and set the maintenance mode to "none". No joy the VM hostname remains unchanged in the portal. Also, the notification system is horrendously spammy, I get email notification of each state change from each of the HA hosts, surely this is not intentional. Is there some way to control this? -Thanks, Alastair

I sincerely hope that this is not answered elsewhere as I've done several searches and have yet to find a solid answer. I have three (what I believe to be) basic questions (with perhaps some subs there): 1) What is the latest oVirt-node release and where would one download it (I appear to only see 3.4 -based releases of the ISO available)? It is 3.5-based and/or is there an upgrade path? Which glusterfs release is currently included with oVirt-node? 2) As I understand it, newer releases of oVirt-node allow you to do an installation of the self-hosted engine at this time. Is that correct? 3) Is there any functionality that one would be losing out on by deploying oVirt via oVirt-node vs. using full-OS installation? Which is the more recommended? Again, I apologize if these questions are covered somewhere, but I felt like asking them in a direct fashion so as to clear up my own ignorance. Migrating from Fedora 19 to Fedora 20 with oVirt 3.5.0

Hi, just finished testing migration path from F19 to F20 for systems running oVirt. F19 is going EOL one month after F21 release which is currently planned for December 2nd. If you're running oVirt on Fedora 19 I suggest you to do it once finished to upgrade oVirt to 3.5.0. Hi: I have my VDSM service and engine up and running now am trying to create a VM. As my client machine is Windows 8.1 Pro I am trying to use noVNC to connect. Am not using a self signed SSL cert but every time I try and connect it says "connect timeout". Port on the engine is listening fine: tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:6100 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 1964/python What could I be doing wrong please ? Thanks, Phil

Hello, I'm new, so forgive me if this is stupid or in the wrong place. Because of security reasons, I want a network, where my VMs can talk to one single VM (eg. proxy or management), but not with each other or the host machine. Is there a simple way to solve this, without creating dozens of networks? Jürgen
