Hi, Can someone clarify the licensing around virtio-win drivers on oVirt 4.4.8 as the following seems to imply a RedHat paid subscrition is required when installing "virtio-win-guest-tools.exe" "2. Program License Grant. Red Hat grants User a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Program during the term of and on systems with fully-paid applicable Red Hat subscription(s) provided User may not: (a) modify, copy, or create any derivative works of the Program; (b) decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer the Program (except to the extent permitted by applicable law); (c) redistribute, encumber, sell, rent, lease, sublicense, or otherwise transfer rights to the Program (except to the extent permitted herein); or (d) remove or alter any trademark, logo, copyright or other proprietary notices, legends, symbols or labels in the Program. about the cloud-init options on the vm portal

It seems that the options for cloud-init in the VM portal interface are only host name and SSH key, other options that can be seen in the administrator interface are not visible. Is there a solution to this problem? Thanks!

Cannot Start VM After Pausing due to Storage I/O Error

Noticed I had a VM that was 'paused' due to a 'Storage I/O error. I inherited this system from another admin and have no idea where to start figuring this out. We have a 4-node Ovirt cluster with a 5 Manager node. The VM in question is running on a host vm-host-colo-4. Best I can tell the VMs run on a gluster replicated volume replicated between all 4 nodes, with node 1 running as an arbiter node for the gluster volume. Other VMs are running on this host 4 so not sure what the issue is with this one VM. When I look at the status of the gluster volume for this host, I see the self-heal info for the bricks is listed as 'N/A' for this host. All the other hosts in the cluster list this info as 'OK'. When I cd into the gluster directory on host 4, I don't see the same things as I do on the other hosts. I am not sure this is an issue but its just different. When running various gluster commands gluster seems to respond. So while some aspects seem fine with the gluster volume, some don't. Should I restart the glusterd daemon or will that mess things up? I am not sure if this is due to something wrong with the gluster volume or with the vm-host's ability to access the data for the VM disk, meaning a true I/O problem. There are two VMs in this state both running on this host and I am not sure how to proceed to get them running again. Should I force this VM to be on a different host by editing the VM or should I try and make it work on the host its on. As mentioned, many other VMs are running on this host so not sure why these two have an issue. Up front apologies here. I am a network engineer and not a VM/Ovirt expert. This was dropped in my lap due to a layoff and could use some help on where to go from here. Thanks in advance for any help.

Create template from snapshot of vm using MBS disk

Hi, If I create a template with a snapshot of the vm that uses the mbs disk, the template cannot be used to create a new vm. Is this normal or a bug?

Error when trying to change master storage domain

Hello, I'm trying to decommission the old master storage domain in ovirt, and replace it with a new one. All of the VMs have been migrated off of the old master, and everything has been running on the new storage domain for a couple months. But when I try to put the old domain into maintenance mode I get an error. Old Master: vm-storage-ssd New Domain: vm-storage-ssd2 The error is: Failed to Reconstruct Master Domain for Data Center EDC2 As well as: Sync Error on Master Domain between Host daccs01 and oVirt Engine. Domain: vm-storage-ssd is marked as Master in oVirt Engine database but not on the Storage side. Redeploying hosted engine from backup

Hello, Just had an issue with my cluster with a self-hosted engine (hosted-engine is not coming up) and decided to redeploy it as I have a backup. Just tried a hosted-engine --deploy --restore-from-file=engine.backup But the script is asking questions like DC name, Cluster name which I can't recall correctly. What will be the consequence of the wrong answer? Is there any chance to get this info from the hosts or backup file? -- Regards, Artem

Default shard size was 64MB. I've tested to create another volume with a 512MB shard size and settings you provided. I observe a performance improvement with `dd`, which does a sequential write (from 1MBps to 50MBps). However, I find VM still slow : as an example, `apt upgrade` is very slow to unpack packages, more than 1 hour for around 400MB (90 packages). data storage domain iso upload problem

Hi, I managed a ovirt 4.4.7 for production systems. Last week i removed the Master storage domain (moved tamplates, vm-s well, unattached, etc), but i forgot to move isos. Now, when i upload a new iso to a data storage domain, the system show it, but it's unbootable: "could not read from cdrom code 0005" thanks csabany

Hi Nur, Yes, oVirt Node comes with an NTP client installed and started. You need to configure the servers it will use as external sources. Yes, it will be preserved in a host upgrade. Hi Mathieu, Using dd for disk performance tests is not recommended. Besides needing oflag and iflag options, dd will perform a sequential write what is not a real scenario, To evaluate your servers, use fio or bonnie++ for performance tests. These applications will play a more realistic scenario to validate your environment. In 4.4, based on CentOS (stream) 8, when done that way it will configure chronyd. In the recent past there was a bug where sometimes installation crashed when configuring ntp in certain conditions. If you don't configure ntp at install time you can configure it later by modifying /etc/chrony.conf and starting/enabling the service from the cockpit web interface (or command line with usual commands). Hi Marcos, Want to clarify one thing. If I’m using and oVirt Node based host (not EL Linux Based), does it already configured with ntp client or can I just configure any ntp client on the host ? If I just configure ntp client on the host either chronyc or ntpd, will it persist after upgrading the node ? Thanks before. Hello, I performed a host upgrade from 4.4.5 to 4.4.8, and vdsmd failed to launch with this log: Sep 07 16:16:52 kamen systemd[1]: mom-vdsm.service: Job mom-vdsm.service/start failed with result 'dependency'. Hi Nur, ntpd has a 300sec limit for synchronization. If you want a more flexible NTP client, use chronyd. If you prefer to use ntpd, you should have ntpdate as a boot client and ntpd as a runtime client. When the server boots, the ntpdate client will sync time no matter the difference. As a boot client, it runs only once and exits. Then the ntpd service starts, and keep your server clock in sync with an external source. On distributions like CentOS and similar, ntpdate reads the external time sources configuration from ntpd.conf.
