Please guide me on how to solve this problem. Hi Christopher -- You can get to a console by pressing F2 (I think this is blocked while the progress bar is moving, but should be available after the exception, and it's available at any point the installer is interactive). This is a new issue to me. Can you please file a bug report? An sosreport may be helpful (this works normally from the rescue shell at <F2>) If possible, it would be best to get debug logs. To do that, press F2 immediately after entering the installer, and run: python -m ovirt.node.installer --debug Logs will be available at /tmp/ovirt-node.debug.log or /var/log/ovirt-node.debug.log, depending on how far through the installer it gets. management network VLAN mismatch

Hi folks, I'm in the process of upgrading to 3.6, and have encountered a new error message. I understand the error, and how to fix it. My question is, can fixing it affect production VM traffic? I don't think so, but I'd appreciate confirmation from someone who really knows, please. Description of what I am doing: I've upgraded hosted-engine, and am now upgrading the first hypervisor node. My method, which may be outdated, is: have no VMs running on the host, I drop it out of the cluster, do yum updates & reboots, then add the host back to the cluster when it's ready. When I add the host to the cluster, I get this error message: Failed to configure management network on host bl05. Host bl05 has an interface eth0.20 for the management network configuration with VLAN-ID (20), which is different from data-center definition (none). I know what this means, and will explain it for the benefit of others. It means that: * the ovirtmgmt bridge on the host is attached to a VLAN 20 subinterface. That is by design; it is correct. * However, in Data Center > Networks definition of ovirtmgmt, there is no VLAN tag defined, so my hosted-engine believes that ovirtmgmt should go into in VLAN 1. Also, for completeness: * there is PVID 20 on the adjacent switchport, which means "untagged ingress traffic should be tagged into VLAN 20". This is why my ovirtmgmt network has been working. * I am grateful for the error message now appearing, as it shows me where I have misconfigured this a long time ago. So. To fix this, I need to add VLAN 20 tag in ovirtmgmt in Data Center > Networks. My question: If I add the VLAN 20 tag to ovirtmgmt in Data Center > Networks, is there any possibility of breaking traffic (or VMs) on other (production) VLANs? Ovir (rhev) backup authomation

Hi all, I would like to share with all my couple scripts which I've made for the backup automation process. If your backup system not support virtual environment like ovirt or rhev, you can use it as workaround :-) It is not a classical backup solution (especially differential backup, compression, deduplication ). This is protection against loss your vm and the data. All what you need it is to change credential and information regards environment like url. Everything I've described in the code. For new environment (3.5> with rhe or centos 7) you can change or comments lines like power off during cleanup snapshots. Please enjoy. jezyk

Gluster 3.7.8 from ovirt-3.6-glusterfs-epel breaks vdsm ?

Hi, today I update one node os, in the updates gluster client packages where upgraded from 3.7.6-1.el7, centos-ovirt36 repository to 3.7.8-1.el7, ovirt-3.6-glusterfs-epel and after reboot the node was marked not operational. looking into the logs, vdsm was failing to get gluster volume information. the command (ovirt-storage is the gluster storage where the hosted engine is kept) gluster --mode=script volume info --remote-host=gluster1 ovirt-storage --xml was failing, returning error 2 (and no output) doing yum downgrade on gluster client packages (back to 3.7.6-1.el7, centos-ovirt36) fixed everything. Data nodes are running glusterfs 3.7.6-1.el7. The funny thing is that from the ovirt I was able to manually mount the glusterfs shares, only the volume info command was failing, thus breaking vdsm. Master Storage Domain Locked

We lost power to an ovirt 3.5.1.1-1.el7.centos cluster. When things came back, the master storage domain was locked. All of the nodes are non operational. Is there a procedure for unlocking a storage domain? I have used the unlock-entity script for other object types.

Going crazy with emory hotplug on 3.6

No OVF Store on Export Domain - normal?

However, the export domain and oVirt have been used below 3.5. Is this normal behavior for an export domain or is there something I should= do to fix it? Unexpected exception when trying to destroy a VM

oVirt Engine Version: 3.5.0.1-1.el6 I attempted to shutdown a VM via the VH's CLI by issuing the poweroff command (ubuntu 14.04.3). The session disconnected and ping dropped, however oVirt reports the VM up. Attempted to 'Power Off' via oVirt gui and received and error. Accessed the host via CLI and attempted a destroy with: vdsClient -s 0 destroy *vmgui* received an Unexpected exception. Hi, I'm trying to create a Data Center Quota with limits for memory, vcpu and storage. As per the class definition, DataCenterQuota expects: a datacenter, a quota and a context. Quota class in turn expects limits but only as percentages, for hard and soft limits. Clone VM fails - could not create volume

On oVirt 3.6.2, I tried to clone a VM, but got an error that the volume couldn't be created. Can't fine engine postgres password

Hi, After deploying hosted engine using the hosted-engine-appliance I need to run the unlock_entity utility on the engine vm to unlock a disk that's stuck. So I ssh on the vm and run: sudo PGPASSWORD=xxxxxxxxx ./unlock_entity.sh -t disk -u engine -q psql: FATAL: password authentication failed for user "engine" FATAL: Cannot execute sql command: --file=./unlock_entity.sql where xxxxxxxxx is the password I supplied for everything during deployment. Run Once install -> reboot loop

Hello all, I’m running overt 3.6.0 on Centos 7.[1] I’ve been working on getting Ovirt to slot in to our environment, and almost have a setup that works. I can now build isos on demand for automated installs (I’m working around some local networking choices without modifying them for now, which is why this isn’t a PXE boot) and create my guests, pointing them to the iso form which to install via Run Once. This all works. The problem is that after the install, the guest reboots, but (best I can tell) Ovirt doesn’t detect it, the iso is still mounted, and the install happens all over again. Rinse, repeat. Has anyone seen this? Or better, does anyone know how to fix this? I am having problems getting the hosted-engine storage domain imported into the web interface. I upgrade my hosts from el6 to el7. I am running oVirt 3.6.2 The storage domain is locked: http://screencast.com/t/gzBarFhH0 I am unable to attach in the datacenter as it says "There are no compatible Storage Domains to attach to this Data Center. Please add new Storage from the Storage tab.". I read https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1269768 comment 52, and ( a little afraid to kill or loose my hosted-engine ) I destroyed the hostedengine_nfs storage. Then storage appeared again, but still the same, attach under datacenter tab does not work either. The event tab shows errors about failed adding http://screencast.com/t/49uigrvyuM3 My hosted engine storage domain is hostedengine_nfs. In https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1269768 I read "ATM only domain's name 'hosted_storage' are *supported*." I found https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1294457 and https://gerrit.ovirt.org/#/c/51218/ and added + ran # engine-config -s HostedEngineStorageDomainName=hosted_storage Now the storage domain is not detected in the web interface anymore. Manually assign DC and Cluster to Blank template

Hi, We upgraded from oVirt 3.5 and 3.6 and deleted the Default cluster, so now we have the Blank template with no DC and no Cluster, thus our users can't use it. Is there a way to manually set these two parameters to the current DC and Cluster values for the Blank template? I tried editing it but see no option to set them. Thanks. Nicolás

Self-Hosted Engine Deployment - Certificate Cannot be Found

I have the host configured, and have accessed the VM (Engine). I run engine setup on the VM in accordance with the http://www.ovirt.org/Hosted_Engine_Howto page on the Wiki, with the exception of Automatically executing "Engine Setup" on the VM. Because of my configuration, I have to manually enter the network settings on the VM before it has network access, and then execute engine setup automatically. Particularly notable is that I enter the selection to automatically configure Apache to use a self-signed SSL during the Engine-Setup. The Engine-Setup completes successfully on the VM, I reboot, and verify that the web page is accessible and that I can log in to the engine. Then I return to the host to enter option 1 (Continue Setup - Ovirt Engine Installation is Ready and Engine service is up) and continue with the installation. The Engine Replies: DB Up! And acquires the internal CA cert from the engine. It lists the cert and then attempts to connect to the engine. The installation asks me to enter the name of the Cluster to which I want to add the host and I enter the automatic "Default" option. At this point the installation returns an error: Cannot automatically add the host to cluster Default: Cannot add Host. Connecting to host via SSH has failed, verify that the host is reachable (IP address, routable address, etc.) You may refer to the engine.log file for further details. Some notes: 1. The /etc/hosts/ file is configured on both host and engine, with ip and fqdn 2. Password-Less SSH is enable between both host and engine, bidirectionally. 3. Ping responds to both servers. DNS resolves on both servers. 4. SSH-Keygen was use to generate key, and key was stored in default Centos location /root/.ssh/id_rsa 5. Ssh-copy-id was used to copy the key to engine from host and vice versa. No password on key. I have managed to get this error to change by copying the contents of the /root/.ssh/id_rsa key to the /etc/pki/ovirt-engine/keys/engine.p12 location. When I attempt to "Continue setup - Engine VM configuration has been fixed" from this point, the error message changes slightly to: "Cannot automatically add the host to cluster Default: Cannot add new host using a secured connection, Certificate file could not be found. Some Notes: 1. I have ran the "Certificate and/or SSL problems?" procedures on www.ovirt.org/Node_Troubleshooting <http://www.ovirt.org/Node_Troubleshooting> " to verify the vdsm cert on the host. It returns a normal response. Can someone provide some assistance with this issue? I have attempted every work around that I know, and researched every source at my disposal to no avail. Hi, finally I am posting something to this list :) I read it for quite some time now and I am an ovirt user since 3.0. I updated an engine installation from 3.2 to 3.6 (stepwise of course, and yes I know that's pretty outdated ;-). Then I updated the associated Centos6 hosts vdsm as well, from 3.10.x to 3.16.30. I also set my cluster comp level to 3.5(3.6 comp level is only possible with El7 hosts if I understood correctly). After my first failover test a VM could not be restarted, altough the host where it was running could correctly be fenced. The reason according to engine's log was this: VM xxxxxxxx is down with error. Exit message: internal error process exited while connecting to monitor: qemu-kvm: -device virtio-serial-pci,id=virtio-serial0,max_ports=16,bus=pci.0,addr=0x4: Duplicate ID 'virtio-serial0' for device I then recognized that I am not able to run this VM on any host. "bridge port" error when setting up hosted-engine on 2nd oVirt 3.6.2 node

Hi, I am getting the following error when I attempt to setup my 2nd ovirt node as a hosted-engine: RuntimeError: The selected device None is not a supported bridge port The 1st node is death-star (192.168.1.50) The 2nd node is starkiller-base (192.168.1.52) This is not a production environment; this is my apartment. I am able to access the engine's webGUI. Both death-star and starkiller-base start out with only eno1 as their only NIC. death-star, by the end of the hosted-engine-setup, had ovirtmgmt also (with the same MAC address.) starkiller-base does not have ovirtmgmt yet. ovirt and gluster storage domain HA testing

I have a ovirt cluster with and system running ovirt-engine 3.6.2.6-1 on centos7.2 and 3 hardware nodes running glusterfs 3.7.6-1 and centos7.2. I created a gluster volume using gluster cli and then went to add a storage domain. I created it with Path ovirt1-ks.test:/gv1 and all works fine, until ovirt1 goes down. Then ALL VMs pause till ovirt1 comes back up. Do I have to list all nodes in the path for this to work? Path: ovirt1-ks.test:/gv1 ovirt2-ks.test:/gv1 ovirt3-ks.test:/gv1 Or how do I prevent ovirt1 from being single point of failure? Thanks. Understanding direct lun connection: iscsi pass through disks

Hi, I am trying to combine performance and virtualisation with direct iscsi disks . Assuming we have vm with /dev/vda for OS two data disks from iscsi01:/dev/sda and iscsi02:/dev/sdb direct lun disks configured over ovirt interface. The iscsi disks are used as zfs mirror inside the vm. When one of the iscsi disks is not available then the whole host goes into pause state. Are there way to force ovirt do not freeze vm if direct lun is away? Thanks, Arman

Pending events in the Tasks tab

Hi, We're using oVirt 3.6.2.6, and we're having some events not being cleared from the Tasks tab. I cannot confirm this is only related to creating VM pools, but any created VM pool remains unfinished forever in the Tasks tab. As you may see in the screenshot, there are events that were started in January and are still in the list. Concretely, the unfinished step is always "Finalizing". Has this been reported on Bugzilla? Is there a way to clear them out even manually? Thanks. Nicolás

oVirt 3.6.2 issue when updating to gluster 3.7.8

Hi, I realised that gluster 3.7.8 was released for GA. So I updated manually using "yum -y install glusterfs*" gluster get's updated normally, but unfortunately things stopped to work completely. ovirt_hosted_engine_ha was not able to connect to my gluster storage domain (as you can see below). I'm not using ovirt + gluster in hyperconverged way. I have 3 external gluster hosts. As a workaround I've executed "*yum* downgrade glusterfs*" and after doing this ovirt started to work again...but as a collateral effect now I can't migrate my vm's anymore. On the vdsm logs I can see the following errors when trying to manually migrate a any VM.... Anyone knows how to fix it? Hello, I am concerned about maintenance mode and system updates. In which case it is essential to put host in maintenance mode? No worries for Content Updates requiring a reboot. But for example in the case of updates like VDSM* or kvm it seems essential, but is it? -- Lionel

Hosted engine storage "locked"

Hi, I've updated from 3.6.1 to 3.6.2 and was hoping that the issue with the hosted engine storage on FC not being imported would be solved. It managed to start the import but now my storage has been stuck in "Locked" for weeks. None of the options in the web UI are available except right click "Destroy". Is there any way to restart the import process so maybe I can keep an eye on the logs and find the issue? Cheers, Ollie

Hi, I am wondering what the lvm_dev_whitelist vdsm.conf option is for? I had some issues whith vdsm switching off logical volumes that it better should keep it's hands off. Could this option help to handle this? If this option is used for something else I would still want to know how I can control which logical volumes or even volume groups vdsm should not touch. thanks a lot and all the best Jojo @ LINBIT VIE
