That said I'm still confident that I will able to get it all managed. For know I have some addition to the NFS troubleshooting wiki that could be helpful for others. If the NFS servers maximum tcp window memory settings are less or equal than 1M the connections to NFS data/ISO domains may stall from time to time. Hi, Another question: I need to connect 2 eths to a Fortigate cluster so I need them to be in a bridge with single ip so it can connect to the DMZ. As far as I can see, ovirt 3.2 is allowing me to create bonds and assign logical network to them, but not to create a bridge. Can I create it manually and get ovirt to handle it? Regrads,

Hi, Just to follow up on the below - updating to libvirt 1.1.2-1 from ftp://libvirt.org/libvirt/ has appeared to solve the issue. Console connections via noVNC work as expected. Hi, I was trying to get the cpu statistics of a host using the oVirt python sdk. Hello all, This is a heads up to any users of the hostusb hook of a proposed change to the option syntax of the hook. I've been working in the change below to allow the use of bus and device IDs to identify a host USB device to attach to a guest : Add the ability to use bus and device IDs with the hostusb hook. http://gerrit.ovirt.org/#/c/17428/ This change results in the old option syntax no longer being accepted by the hook. Instead only the new syntax will be accepted : bus=octal:device=octal or vendor=hex:product:hex Please let me know if you have any concerns regarding this change and the lack of backward compatibility with the older option syntax. Hi, I've been using ovirt in production for a couple of months and had no troubles ( great product! :-) ). I've two issues I'd like to fix and may also be usefull for a new feature in 3.4: The first is that I had to put # RHEV PRIVATE in the multipath.conf of every host as ovirt kept deleting the device and alias definitions and thus, multipath was not able to get the luns. I'd like to know if there's a file in engine where I can set the default config for multipath so I don't have to change every host's multipath.conf everytime I decide to add a new alias, etc. The second is the use of the iscsi domain. I have now all my vms in separate luns (one for each one) in the netapp san, so I use direct lun for the vm disks. But I have a second iscsi san from IBM that is the data domain of the DC. I'd like to have all my vms with storage redundancy by adding both sans as primary and backup but if I try to add the netapp to the storage domain, it can't just import the luns as it writes data to the lun and this would corrupt the lun's filesystems. How can I use both sans without loosing all my vms? Last I'd like to get some recomendations on performance: is it better to have separate luns for each vms than having one lun with different virtual disks? Regards,

Hi, I am currently unable to connect to the console of a running VM through the Ovirt web interface. I get the following error (log extracts below): error : qemuDomainChangeGraphics:1873 : internal error cannot change listen address setting on vnc graphics I’m using Fedora 19, ovirt-engine 3.3.0-1, VDSM 4.12.1, qemu 1.4.2 and libvirt 1.0.5. I get a similar error when trying to use Spice. Has anyone come across this problem before, and if so, how to resolve? Based on some quick googling the versions of libvirt/qemu available in F19 do not allow changes to the listen address for a running VM. Should I rollback to a previous version? Hi all My name is Liviu Elama and I'm from New Zealand. My day to day job is Unix/Linux technical consultant for an outsourcing company here in NZ. I have around 10 years of UNIX (Solaris, AIX, RHEL,SLES) , storage, backup, virtualization (VCP) and I'm very interested in ovirt as an alternative for VMware and the integration with glusterfs and foreman/puppet. Hi, Foreman guys say this is probably an oVirt side issue.. I was successfully able to hook up my foreman server to the oVirt datacenter using the compute resources section. It detected the available datacenters and logged in fine. Logs showed code 200, I can view the VMs available, power them on and shut them down from the foreman UI. Hello, if I install websocket proxy and configure it for spice-html5 usage by ovirt-setup it does not add iptables rules about opening port 6100 to /etc/sysconfig/iptables even if I set oVirt to manage iptables. I use centos 6.4 and oVirt 3.3RC Thank you.

Adding a NFS Domain to the cluster fails. It looks like the error from http://lists.ovirt.org/pipermail/users/2013-April/014080.html but I have a Fedora 19 host and sanlock seems to be a newer version. I wanted to restart the setup process but ovirt-engine tells me that the storage domain already exists on the host. How can I recover from this failed action? [Users] Host stuck in unresponsive state

Hi, my all-in-one host is stuck in unresponsive state, no matter what I try. Found this error in my engine.log: 2013-08-31 23:53:59,325 ERROR [org.ovirt.engine.core.vdsbroker.vdsbroker.GetCapabilitiesVDSCommand] (DefaultQuartzScheduler_Worker-54) Command GetCapabilitiesVDS execution failed. Exception: VDSNetworkException: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused This message starts to appear when I try to activate the host (from maintenance state). Any idea how to activate the host? Running oVirt 3.3 RC2 on Fedora 19, all-in-one Setup. Thanks - Frank

Hello I am trying to install ovirt nightly on centos 6.4 it first complained about missing gluster 3.4 I added the gluster repo - http://download.gluster.org/pub/gluster/glusterfs/3.4/3.4.0/EPEL.repo/epel-… , afterwards I got a message that I am missing spice-html5 I think that it should be included in the nightly repository. Hi, >From what I've been reading there's going to be quite a while until el6 will be getting native gluster support, rhel 6.5? If we use gluster + nfs/posix to access it temporarily, what would our options be to migrate to native gluster when the patch comes along? Would it be possible to do a quick datacenter modification or do all the VMs need to be exported and imported again. Thanks.

[Users] How to add internal networks

Hi, I'm using oVirt 3.2 on a single hosts with only one NIC. Currently there is only the ovirtmgmt network configured. But I need to add more networks, especially some internal networks like 192.168.x.y/24 need to be usable for VMs. From the oVirt Admin Portal this does not seem to be possible. It seems I cannot reuse the ovirtmgmt interface for any other network. Is this true? How am I supposed to add several networks in oVirt if I have just one NIC? Thanks - Frank

hi everyone i am a newbie in ovirt . i installed ovirt 3.2 on centos6.4. i ran VM's on node manager but i cant connect to them. i installed ovirt in a network that doesnt access to internet. i have only one active interface on host (host and ovirt node manager on a server). should i run dhcp or there is any other solution?thanks in advance

Hi, I've got a scenario: Router->Node (vlan tag 100, vlan tag 101)->VM Does the node take care of the tagging or will the VM's interface also need to be tagged. Right now the VM's interface is not in a VLAN and it can't connect to the router. Thanks, Andrew

Hello all, I'm looking for some opinions on our current topology and how a disaster recovery plan would shake out in the real world on an ovirt/gluster clustered system. Please ignore the RH references in the attached diagram, we're still on the fence if we're going with support or not. [image: Inline image 1] The Plan At HQ site: Two Gluster nodes running as replica's. ~4 Virt notes 1 Manager node (likely running on as separate kvm HA VM) Offsite: 1 Gluster node acting as a geo-replication target 1 Virt node 1 Manager in standby (waiting to recover db backup) *Even better would be using both nodes at this site as one striped gluster volume, standby Manager, and Virt nodes to eliminate the standby Manager box, decrease costs and increase virt resources, but I'm not sure this is doable quite yet.* During regular operations we're replicating our gluster storage offsite with geo-replication. In the event of a disaster (for simplicity we'll say the server room becomes unusable) I would want to recover the Manager at the offsite location from a backup, add the geo-replicated gluster storage domain as the normal domain, then start spinning up the business critical VM's. With a router in-place and some external DNS changes we should be able to keep our VPN accessible and all our internal resources available to mobile/home workers, or in this simple case even from our normal office location (already have the site-to-site VPN active). I'm planning on using a vpls solution to extend the VM subnet and storage/virt subnet across both sites so we don't need to worry about dns/IP changes in the middle of recovery. I think the biggest question so far is can we smoothly replace the normal storage domain on ovirt with the geo-replicated storage domain in the DR situation off-site? I've tried to layout most of the high level stuff here so if anyone sees any flaws or potential gotcha's feel free to chime in. I can provide more detail if necessary. Thanks! *Steve *

i just installed oVirt 3.3 Beta RPMs on a fresh installation of CentOS 6 on my laptop with all patches applied yum -y localinstall http://resources.ovirt.org/releases/3.3/rpm/EL/6/noarch/ovirt-release-el6-8… yum -y localinstall http://www.muug.mb.ca/pub/epel/6/i386/epel-release-6-8.noarch.rpm After editing the /etc/yum.repos.d/el6-ovirt.repo to enable beta and then trying to install oVirt engine it complains about spice-html5 being unavailable. Is this a bug, or is it temporary. -- James A.
