I've never tried setting multiple IPs on my ovirtmgmt bridge on the host. But you shouldn't have to do that. It's a bridge, after all, so all systems that sit on that bridge (which include your VMs) will be equivalent. In my case I have an external router that gets used for both of my networks (I have a 192.168 network as well as a full class-C but they share physical infrastructure). So my host only has a 192.168 address, my engine is on the class-C, and they talk to each other over the standard network. In your case it *SOUNDS* like you need to set up an internal router for the /29. The way I would do it would be: /32 /32 /29 bridge +--- host (/29) ISP-Router ------- internal-router ----------+--- VM (/29) +--- VM (/29) I don't know if you can actually do this. If not, your other option would be: /32 bridge +--- host (/32) router -----------+--- VM Router (/29) (pfsense?) +--- VM (/29) This may not work for you, either, depending. hosted-engine --deploy hanging, vm not responding

Folks, I executed "hosted-engine --deploy" on a fresh CentOS 7.2 install. Before executing the cmd I also installed the he-appliance. (Also ran yum update, installed a few packages and rebooted before doing the hosted engine deploy.) The process seems to go well but then it hangs here: The VM has been started. To continue please install OS and shutdown or reboot the VM. Make a selection from the options below: (1) Continue setup - OS installation is complete (2) Abort setup (3) Power off and restart the VM (4) Destroy VM and abort setup (1, 2, 3, 4)[1]: 1 Please reboot or shutdown the VM. Verifying shutdown... >From another terminal window I tried accessing the console but received the following: # hosted-engine --console The engine VM is running on this host Connected to domain HostedEngine Escape character is ^] error: internal error: character device console0 is not using a PTY I've also tried option 3 above, but then it comes back with Checking for oVirt-Engine status at hosted-engine-1.example.com... [ INFO ] Engine is still unreachable oVirt-Engine health status page is not yet reachable. I am admittedly mystified at this point. Any ideas? Thanks Mark

Hosted-engine --deploy FQDN questions

Folks, I'm an OVirt newbie having troubles setting up my first Hosted Engine and am stumbling. In this case I think it may be because of the following two set-up questions. Enter the name which will be used to identify this host inside the Administrator Portal [hosted_engine_1]: Please provide the FQDN for the engine you would like to use. This needs to match the FQDN that you will use for the engine installation within the VM. Note: This will be the FQDN of the VM you are now going to create, it should not point to the base host or to any other existing machine. Engine FQDN: []: My read of this is that the first question is asking for the name of the host, while the second question is asking for the name (FQDN) of the guest vm which will be the hosted-engine. Is this correct? I'm also presuming that a) the first question should be the hostname of the host, and b) that both the host and guest hostnames should resolve to IP addresses. Thanks Mark

shutdown and kernel panic

Hello to all, I'm just playing with ovirt4, installed on HP server with CentOS 7, and a virtual machine as host engine. I have a lot of problems with the server shutdown! The server dosn't power off and will reboot after some "kernel panic" error. To turn off the ovirt server: 1) Put ovirt in global maintinience (hosted-engine --set-maintenance --mode=global) 2) Host engine shutdown and check vm-status 3) Finaly, shutdown server and wait ... wait ... wait Whats wrong?! -_- best regards Luigi F.

Note: When I configured vdsm-tool ovn-config, I passed it the IP address of the OVN-Controller which is using the ovirtmgmt network, which is just one of the NIC's on the nodes. I am opening up new thread as this I feel differs a bit from my original request. I have OVN which I believe is deployed correctly. I have noticed that if instances get spun up on the same oVIRT node they can all talk without issues to one another, however if one instance gets spun up on another node even if it has the same (OVN network/subnet), it can't ping or reach other instances in the subnet. HE working fine, but still strange messages in /var/log/messages

Hi, first of all, thanks to all the community! I have Hosted Engine working with no apparent issues I just have the followiing filling my log messages : ovirt-ha-broker: INFO:ovirt_hosted_engine_ha.broker.listener.ConnectionHandler:Connection closed ovirt-ha-broker: INFO:ovirt_hosted_engine_ha.broker.listener.ConnectionHandler:Connection established journal: vdsm vds.dispatcher ERROR SSL error during reading data: unexpected eof ovirt-ha-agent: INFO:ovirt_hosted_engine_ha.lib.storage_server.StorageServer:Connecting storage server ovirt-ha-agent: INFO:ovirt_hosted_engine_ha.lib.storage_server.StorageServer:Refreshing the storage domain ovirt-ha-agent: INFO:ovirt_hosted_engine_ha.agent.hosted_engine.HostedEngine:Preparing images how can I fix this? I deployed the HE with cockpit, then deployed the next hosts with hosted engine via UI. regards,
