Hi, I have modified my VM network to have multiple tagged networks. It used to be an untagged network and it worked fine, but I needed to add more networks on the host. The switch it is connected to has the port configured as a trunk port with these VLANs. When a VM sends traffic out (to get a DHCP address for instance), it reaches the server but does not get the DHCP offer that the server sends. I did a tcpdump on the node that hosts the VM and the packets going out do not have a VLAN tag. I assume the VM host interface would should not have the tag present, but that the p2p1.91 interface should put the VLAN tag on. I've run the vmnet interface in promiscuous mode to see if I can see anything coming back, but the return traffic does not appear. Any ideas as to why the network is not working? Add more hosts

Hello again as I said I'm a beginner with OVirt and I was playing with a proof-of-concept cluster with OVirt 4.0 + GlusterFS 3.8, following this guide http://www.ovirt.org/blog/2016/03/up-and-running-with-ovirt-3-6/ (it works smoothly with 4.0 too) I've created the cluster and the engine is running as an higly available VM in the cluster itself with hosted-engine --deploy but now I want to add a fourth machine to the cluster but I get this error: Cannot automatically add the host to cluster Default: Cannot add Host. There is no available server in the cluster to probe the new server. both if I try to add an host from Ovirt AAdmin GUI or if I try to run "hosted-engine --deploy" on the new machine. Is it possible to have this cluster conf (with the engine running as a VM) with 4 or more machines? What thing should I have to do? Thanks in advance -- Davide Ferrari Senior Systems Engineer

oVirt on a single server

My current understanding is that oVirt no longer supports any single-server configuration since the All-In-One install was removed in 3.6. While the hosted-engine install was supposed to replace it, it requires either networked storage (nfs, iscsi) or Glusterfs. To my knowledge nfs/iscsi exported to localhost is not supported, so I would need at least 2 machines. Furthermore Gluster requires at least 3 sources of storage for quorum (it would be great if there was an option to acknowledge the risks and continue), meaning a single machine is not practical. I understand and acknowledge that oVirt is not targeted towards homelab setups, or at least small homelab setups. However I believe that having a solid configuration for such use cases would be a benefit to the project as a whole. It allows oVirt to be much more visible in the homelab community, and more accessible to testing which in turn yields more people who have experience with oVirt. As it stands most other virtualization products allow for usage (not just a livecd) in a single server environment, although not all features can be used of course. vSphere, Xenserver, Proxmox, FIFO, and Nutanix all allow an installation on a single server. It appears that oVirt/RHV is the odd-one out - and it honestly shows when you look at what people talk about online - there is a huge gap between even Proxmox and oVirt when it comes to mindshare in the tech community, and it does not favor oVirt.

Hi, how can I install a host machine in a CentOS 6.4 using a Ovirt 3.6? I'm use a Centos in a VirtualBox, because I use Ubuntu in my real machine. Is not possible to use a Ovirt in a CentOs in a VirtualBox? Thanks in advanced.

Limit DWH database size

oVirt Node Network conf X DNS

Hi oVirt Users and Admins !!! I am installing ovirt 4.0.3 and do above conf on my OVirt Node using bond and vlan. When I add this host to ovirt engine and associate ovirtmgmt network with same tag vlan number 1051, DNS conf was overwrited by vdsm. So, as i do not find any way to set DNS on ovirt engine network conf i think that for ovirt nodes i need to use another network that i do not plan to use with virtual machines ( because if i add a new network on ovirt engine with same tag vlan number the ovirt node conf will be overwrited by vdsm ). proper update steps for HE (same major branch)

I have my entire cluster running on oVirt 4. As updates become available, what is the correct method to upgrade within the same major version? My initial thought is: 1. From oVirt web update my individual nodes that are marked as "a new version is available" 2. Logon to oVirt web through SSH and then yum update -y there Or is it backwards? I just want to be sure so that I do not break hosted-engine because I had to rebuild entirely on oVirt 4 after I could not get the engines out of 'stale data' in hosted-engine --vm-status so I am very cautious to update I've read a couple posts on this list before but I want to be absolutely sure before I do this Thanks!
