Fallback Method to Start a VM if oVirt Engine is Offline

Hello, Is there a way to start a VM directly from the KVM host if the oVirt Engine is down or temporarily unavailable due to network issues or other reasons? thanks for any advice.

OLVM version 8.5 OS Server OL8.10 I'm running ovirt-engine and ovirt-host on the same server. I'm having problems trying to import a qcow2 disk or an ISO to the OVLM 4.5 storage. High Performance VMs - cpu pinning

Hi In 4.10.1. Creating a High Performance Virtual Machine, Template, or Pool https://www.ovirt.org/documentation/virtual_machine_management_guide/index.… I need some help trying to understand this section, please see my comments "> inline". <-- snip Pinning topology: The first two CPUs of each NUMA node are pinned. > OK, so the first 2 pCPUs of the NUMA node are used for I/O and emulator threads. If all vCPUs fit into one NUMA node of the host: > Yes, they do ... The first two vCPUs are automatically reserved/pinned > Are the first 2 vCPUs automatically pinned to the I/O and Emulator thread pCPUs mentioned in previous point? The remaining vCPUs are available for manual vCPU pinning <-- snip So if I create a High Performance VM with 6 vCPUs, I should: - Don't pin vCPUs 0 and 1 - Do pin vCPUs 2,3,4 and 5 All other High Performance VMs within the same NUMA node have their first 2 vCPUs automatically pinned (presumably to the I/O and emulator thread pCPUs) What do you think? Hello, I am currently sitting on oVirt 4.5 and I have 5 Linux hosts. I was hoping I could get some insight as to the correct way to get things updated. I am seeing the dashboard throw errors for each of my 5 hosts with the following error: Failed to check for available updates on host _______ with message 'Task Ensure Python3 is installed for CentOS/RHEL8 hosts failed to execute. How to switch oVirt from Cockpit from RHEL9?

Hi Community, I am using KVM in RHEL9, and for the web interface, I am using Cockpit. I just learned about the oVirt, and it looks much better than the cockpit. How can install oVirt in my rhel9 without causing an issue? Do I need to uninstall KVM first? Can someone please guide me so that I don't screw things up since I have many virtual machines in the system? Appreciate your help!

Hello, I am creating VM, and disks on VM, and I am occurring a problem, where the logical names of the disks are probably not created / assigned sequentially. This is the outcome that I would expect: disk_name | logical_name -------------------------------- os_disk | /dev/sda vm.example.com_4 | /dev/sdb vm.example.com_3 | /dev/sdc vm.example.com_2 | /dev/sdd vm.example.com_1 | /dev/sde However I have experienced on multiple occasions that the logical names are mixed, for example like this (see row 1 and 2): disk_name | logical_name -------------------------------- os_disk | /dev/sdb vm.example.com_4 | /dev/sda vm.example.com_3 | /dev/sdc vm.example.com_2 | /dev/sdd vm.example.com_1 | /dev/sde I have tried to add state: "present" and wait: true parameters for each disk, but this has not helped, and I am still facing the same problem. ansible snippet below any tips/advices where to dig? Hi, This looks like a bug. We had a same issue with few VMs After Veeam support was involved they redirected us to Oracle as we use OLVM. There was in logs 2024-08-17 01:06:12.1818 00022 [4184461] WARN | [RhvBackupManager]: Failed to create incremental backup, fallback to full backup: RhevClient.Exceptions.RhevServerException: Cannot backup VM: Disk is locked. Please try again later. THe same error was with Vinchin.
