Hi, I have a VM which acts as an oVirt host with VDSM installed. I use it for testing without connecting it to Engine. oVirt Community - open discussion around repositories and workflows

Dear community members, We would like to take some next steps in improving usability and general decision making for our community and are interested in your thoughts and suggestions. The first step is a decision regarding our version control and workflows associated with it. Contributions to new features and general improvements for oVirt outside of Red Hat have been rare and we would like to hear from you if we could simplify this process for you. One suggestion we have is that we could simplify the contribution process and improve the contributor experience by moving our repositories to GitHub or GitLab. Currently, our Gerrit (gerrit.ovirt.org) instance is mirrored to GitHub and we already have several repositories that are exclusively developed there, including their CI running on GitHub Actions, for example: * https://github.com/oVirt/go-ovirt-client * https://github.com/oVirt/512-byte-vm There are also various related projects that run on GitLab, such as: * https://gitlab.com/qemu-project * https://gitlab.com/libvirt One recent project that moved from Gerrit to GitLab with a very similar discussion is mediawiki: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/GitLab_consultation/Discussion_summary Once we hear more of your thoughts around this and if the decision falls on moving to either GitHub or GitLab, our plan would be to start changing existing workflows and CI project by project as it makes sense. Both platforms offer similar features. Currently we have 3 go modules: - github.com/ovirt/go-ovirt https://github.com/oVirt/go-ovirt/ seems that this repo generated by https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-engine-sdk-go - github.com/ovirt/go-ovirt-client https://github.com/oVirt/go-ovirt-client - github.com/ovirt/go-ovirt-client-log https://github.com/oVirt/go-ovirt-client-log These modules share the issue of depending on the hosting service and the repo the code is located. I started to work on the imageio go module here: https://gerrit.ovirt.org/c/ovirt-imageio/+/117277 And I'm trying to avoid the issues above by naming the module: ovirt.org/imageio The module name does not depend on the hosting service, or on the actual repo or the location in the repo. To make this work, the web server at ovirt.org should serve this resource: https://ovirt.org/imageio returning an HTML document that contains a magic <meta> tag in the page header <meta name="go-import" content="ovirt.org/imageio git https://github.com/ovirt/ovirt-imageio/imageio-go"/> Is this possible with our current infrastructure? Help needed enabling copr builds for ovirt-ansible-collection

Hi, I was looking at ovirt-ansible-collection build scripts and I need help preparing a Makefile as https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-host/blob/master/.copr/Makefile for this package. It will be executed on a Fedora 34 host and then the resulting SRPM is going to be rebuilt with mock for el8 / el9 as needed. Java Xmx limit building ovirt-engine package

Hello, I'm facing a weird behave when rebuilding the ovirt-engine rpm package. When I run a rpmbuild -ba ovirt-engine.spec, it fails with the following error: [ERROR] Out of memory; to increase the amount of memory Also, it indicates the option -Xmx8192M in the pom.xml file. The weird part is that building the application in the command line works fine but not in the rpmbuild, neither using a mock build system. I checked this page https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-engine from GitHub and tested those variables with no success. Can anyone point me where I can find how to use those variables when building the package or have experience building this package/application to explain it? Thank you in advance for any help. Via the GUI selecting Virtual Appliance OVA does the job. Is the API missing this functionality or am I missing something?

Hello, I am Maithreyi Gopal, from Nuremberg, Germany. I am looking to start contributing to open source projects and would like to introduce myself to you. I have a lot of Software Development Experience to offer. I have a few years of experience working with infrastructure teams on the Cisco ASR9k routers. I have a Masters in Networking and Design I currently work on developing drivers and communication protocols for image transfer at Siemens Healthcare. I want to be able to use my background to start contributing to open source and learn new technologies. I come with no prior open source contributions. Cluster version - where is it defined?

Hello, I'm trying to understand where the Cluster Compatibility version is defined and which commands are supported in each version. I'm inspecting the ovirt-engine, libvirt, and vdsm source code, but I imagine there is any paper or webpage where it is defined. At least a list with features or commands, something like this. I searched this list and found pretty old messages, but no clue on this topic. Regards, Marcos

So, ELRepo no longer supports CentOS Stream 8.x I used to be able to: Chelsio T320 10GB/s Card Mods 1. rpm --import https://www.elrepo.org/RPM-GPG-KEY-elrepo.org 2. yum install https://www.elrepo.org/elrepo-release-8.el8.elrepo.noarch.rpm 3. yum install kmod-cxgb3 However this no longer works, how would i go about compiling the RPM from source tar and then push the kmod into oVirt?
