useless warnings in engine.log
by Omer Frenkel
Hi,
lately i noticed my engine.log filled with useless warnings, every 30 secs:
2015-07-15 15:03:38,961 WARN [org.ovirt.engine.core.branding.BrandingFilter] (default task-38) [] Detected Locale is null, setting to default 'en_US'
2015-07-15 15:04:08,964 WARN [org.ovirt.engine.core.branding.BrandingFilter] (default task-41) [] Detected Locale is null, setting to default 'en_US'
anything changed? anything wrong with my setup that i need to set in order to solve this?
also, i think that recurring msgs like this should go to debug...
Thanks,
Omer.

Checkstyle changes in oVirt
by Tal Nisan
Hey everyone,
We've all reviewed patches that contained imports sorting "noise" caused
by misconfigured IDEs, I decided to enforce the project's standards
concerning imports order with the checkstyle plugin.
Achieving this required upgrading checkstyle to version 6.5 and fixing
the existing violations so we can have a clean baseline to build from.
While I was at it, I fixed the left curly braces position suppression in
the "uicommon" project to align with the proper standards defined in the
rest of the project.
Please note that these standards are now enforced at build time and
patches that violate them will break the build.
A big thank you goes out to everyone who reviewed and commented on the
patches!
* For those interested, the relevant patches can be found at
https://gerrit.ovirt.org/#/q/status:open+project:ovirt-engine+branch:mast...

VM status checks - request for comments
by Shmuel Melamud
Hi!
I'm currently working on creation of new VMStatus helper functions that may be used to check VM status when needed being all-purpose, robust and universal.
For this purpose I've created a table of all places where VM status is checked, using current VMStatus functions, long lines of comparisons or some indirect way like validators. (Sure, I didn't include some cases. VmAnalyzer logic doesn't fit here. Mappings, rendering, message selection, changing states in migration process - it is not the case when helper functions may help.)
Here is the table: https://docs.google.com/a/redhat.com/spreadsheets/d/1yb-JdTAGh_4bOC6tL7KL...
Many lines are raising questions - why these states are allowed and these are not? What to do in Unknown state, in migration, hibernation, WaitingForLaunch?
That's why I'm asking those of you who're familiar with some places to review them and write down your comments. What logic is behind the selection of the states? What states should be here, or shouldn't be here? This will give invaluable help to create helper functions that are really helpful ;)
