Host failed to attach one of the Storage Domains attached to it

One of the Intel machines is running the management as well (We called this SOL). This deployment is connected to a NAS through NFS shares. Suddenly (no more than 2 days) SOL is reported as "Non operational" and in the Action Items is saying " Host failed to attach one of the Storage Domains attached to it." All other machines seems to be fine. In the past we encountered similar errors after (accidental) reboot of the hosts, but now it is not the case: [root@sol ~]# uptime 08:10:48 up 9 days, 15:48, 1 user, load average: 0.08, 0.05, 0.12 The "funny" is that the virtual machines already started on SOL are still running without any problems. I am not sure what logs to check. oVirt Error while executing Attach Storage Domain (glusterfs)

Hello, I have a glusterfs enabled cluster with replica-3 volume. When I try to add oVirt Glusterfs/Data storage I am getting this error. Error while executing Attach Storage Domain: Storage domain cannot be reached. Please ensure it is accessible from the host(s). iptables/firewalld are stopped. Anyone? K.

Live VM Backups

From what I can tell, you can only backup a VM to an export domain if the VM is shut down. Is a live VM backup not possible through oVirt? If not, why not? Most other virtualization tools can handle this. If it is possible, how do I do it through the backup API? api.vms.myvm.export requires it to be shutdown so what would the alternative be? Unable to shutdown, poweroff or delete a VM

We are running oVirt Version 3.5.0.1-1.el6. I have a VM on one of my hosts that appears to be stuck. The VM shows running, however I am unable to successfully shutdown, powerdown, or otherwise change the status of the VM. It is not pinging. The guest OS is Ubuntu 14.04 and the ovirt agent is installed. Cannot add host to cluster - install fails

Dear all, We are running the following setup: ovirt-engine host: - CentOS release 6.6 - ovirt-engine-3.5.3.1-1.el6.noarch node: - CentOS Linux release 7.1.1503 - vdsm-4.16.20-0.el7.centos.x86_64 While adding a new host to our cluster the package installations fail. I have attached a piece of engine.log and a full ovirt-host-deploy* log from the node. Why is is happening? Help would be very much appreciated. Dear Michael We actually created the ovirtmgmt and the bond manually upfront and then in the ³Setup Hosts Network² we basically did this again (including setting the IP address), regarding the bonding in the gluster network we did not have a problem, you just drag one interface onto the other and then select the bonding mode, where you can also go for bonding mode TLB or ALB if you choose ³custom² or just LACP if you have switches that support this. Step by Step: - set the engine to maintenance and shut it down - configure the bond on the 2 nics for the ovirtmgmt bridge ( em1+em2 -> bond0 -> ovirtmgmt ) - configure the IP on the bridge - reboot the server and see whethter it comes up correctly - remove maintenance and let engine start - Set up the ovirtmgmt in hosts networks but do not forget to set IP and Gateway as well. Though it should work without this hassle (if the bonding mode on the switch and server is compatible) but this way it is easy to get server and switch in the same mode and working without having to do anything in ovirt first. Metadata error on hosted engine (fresh install)

Hi all, I've activated oVirt 3.5 with the hosted engine setup using CentOS 7 as host and CentOS 6 as engine OS. The storage for the hosted engine is iSCSI. The setup went smooth, I've some vm running on top of it without many issues. Hello, I'm in the planning stage of setting up a new oVirt cluster, where I would prefer to use the local disks of the hypervisors for a GlusterFS storage domain. What is the current recommendation (for version 3.5.x)? I tried a different Aproach: One VLAN for each NIC I tried but not works.... I left the Virtual Machine pinging the Gateway after 10 minutes I left my Worstation alone and I went back to my home. Today i see the ping working (¿?) Maybe I rush too much...or maybe not. I reboot the Virtual Machine, same problem: after 15 minutes the Machine can't reach the Gateway, we need HA and 10+ minutes it's not considerated. After a I mess my oVirt LAB, after trying everything. Confused / Hosted-Engine won't start

I'm sure I have worked through this before, but I've been banging my head against this one for a while now, and I think I'm too close to the issue. Basically, my hosted-engine won't start anymore. I do recall attempting to migrate it to a new gluster-based NFS share recently, but I could have sworn that was successful and working. I _think_ I have some sort of id issue with storage/volume/whatever id's, but I need some help digging through it if someone would be so kind. My server has four NICs, tw= o connected to the LAN and two to an adjacent server to be used as a Gluste= r network between the two servers. My aim is to use NIC bonding for two NIC= s each. Via the engine, I would like to use Hosts -> Network Interfaces -> Setup Ho= st Networks. As I use hosted engine, I cannot set the only host to maintena= nce mode. At least during normal operations, however, I am neither able to = change the ovirt bridge from DHCP to static IP nor create a bond consisting= of the two LAN facing NICs. In each case I get, "Error while executing act= ion Setup Networks: Network is currently being used". Editing the network s= cripts manually is not an option either, as that does not survive a reboot.= Contrary to this real view, everything should be easily configurable accor= ding to section 6.6 of the oVirt administration guide. One workaround approach could be to temporarily move one NIC connection fro= m the adjacent server to the LAN or even temporarily swap both pairs of NIC= s and edit interfaces while they are not in use. Is this really the way for= ward? Should there not be a more elegant approach not requiring physically = plugging NIC connections just to work around such issue?
