Hi, We still have one open blocker for 3.5.2[1]: Bug ID Whiteboard Status Summary 1161012 infra POST task cleaning utility should erase commands that have running tasks We need to postpone the RC until this will be fixed. The patch is already under review and verification so it shouldn't take too much. There are still 48 bugs [2] targeted to 3.5.2. Excluding node and documentation bugs we still have 42 bugs [3] targeted to 3.5.2. Hi, here's an update on 3.6 status on integration / rel-eng side Schedule for 3.6.0 has been published[1] and external project schedules have been updated[2]. The tracker bug for 3.6.0 [3] currently shows no blockers. There are 561 bugs [4] targeted to 3.6.0. Excluding node and documentation bugs we have 514 bugs [5] targeted to 3.6.0. I am still a newbie and going through the ovirt "engine-setup" And I am getting an error ---> AIO: Validating CPU Compatibility... Revision: oVirt Engine Version: 3.5.1.1-1.= el6, recently upgraded to, to resolve a snapshot removal issue. I started seeing this after adding a new host to my oVirt C= luster. I have also recently had a problem had the root directory f= illing up, I have added space, but the disk was full a couple of days befor= e it was noticed. I have taken over management of this cluster, while I have = root to the host, vms, and engine - I don't have the admin password to oVir= t Engine, I would like to correct this as well. HA of VMs

I've been poking around for a better way to perform HA. With VM's like IPA or even HA web sites behind an HAProxy; how do I ensure that they are never on the same host? I've seen the options for watchdog and I can see where that may help a little, but not without the initial outage to trigger the alert. There are many ways to do this however I see few that scale. I'm sure I'm missing something and I really appreciate any guidance. Thanks all

oVirt Manager problem

I have a problem on my oVirt manager, the problem is that the directory /var/lib/pgsql/data/base fills. Initially thinking that my file system /var/log 2Gb was too small now have increased to 4Gb and is refilled, i have increased again to 5 Gb and is refilled again. Why ? I have implemented the backup of the manager with the script backup.sh, this could be the cause of the problem ? Sorry in the script backup.sh there is this #!/bin/bash /usr/bin/engine-backup --mode=backup --scope=all --file="/root/ovirt-engine-backups/$(hostname)-backup-$(date +%A).tar.bz2" --log=/var/log/ovirt-engine-backups.log

Ovirt 3.5.x Power failure recovery

Hi, Long time read-only user here :) Unfortunately I need some info which I can't seem to find in the archives and on Google. In the past 5 months we’ve had two very rare occasions of power failures in my hometown. First one was a ms during spike or drop, just enough to cause a reboot, the other was a 30min failure. Problem After the power failure my ovirt nodes boot into CentOS 6.6 and are running fine. In both cases my ovirt-engine-VM wouldn't "start" due to service Postgresql not starting. I tried some things before reverting back to an older DB snapshot that was on the VM disk, but still not working. Postgresql is not starting due to "Duplicate UUID" My solution Calm down girlfriend and don't sleep Reinstall 1 node, create new ovirt-engine, recreate VM's and copy VM disk data from old store to new store. Add second node Other solutions I can think of 1. Start cluster without reinstall ;) 2. Buy UPS (€150 one time, extra €60 yearly power usage = €450 in 5 years) At this moment I’m 1 click away from buying the UPS, but I prefer a more elegant solution. After the last power failure I did NOT reinstall my second ovirt node and the old engine is also on storage available. Is there someone that wants some data to troubleshoot/analyse? Or is this just one of those things? Buy the UPS and get on with your life? Short HW overview 2x ovirt 3.5.x (i3/32GB ram,1Gb eth VM network, dual x520 NFS eth) 1x NFS (i3/4GB ram, 5TB SAS and 6TB SATA on Dell PERC,1Gb eth mgmt, dual x520 10Gb) 1Gb is used for VM networking, the 10Gb is connected via DAC cables and runs NFS-storage. This works great! Whole cluster runs below 120w and VM disk performance is around 700MB/s :) I bought all the HW with power usage in mind, PicoPSU's and 35w CPU's in all nodes. So adding 30w "extra" just for the UPS feels a bit like killing an elephant with tissues... kind regards Raymond

el6 vs el7

Hi all, I'm planning to migrate my ovirt el6 hosts to el7. Excepting that el6 will not be supported in next release of ovirt, is there a difference of performance between el7 and el6? I mean, are qemu or libvirt for example at the same level of performance/capabilities in el6 than in el7 (knowing that qemu-kvm 0.12 is still backported on el6) ? I heard that el7.1 will support live merge, if true will el6.7 support it as well or the difference between them is there?

Local and remote storage?

Hello, I've run into an "odd" problem with oVirt 3.5.1. I've two sets of VMs: A) some fairly critical VMs which need HA and have access to shared storage B) some less important systems which can be reconstructed in the event of a disaster My plan was to use the slack disk on my oVirt nodes to host the 'B' systems while still allowing the 'A' systems to run there. This seems to not be allowed[1]. Is there a way I can utilize both the spare disk on my compute nodes and have HA configured for some VMs with shared storage?
